    The subsequent episode began at 09:19:10, but at 09:20:04, a new vent opened in the crater wall, and the lava fountains from the central vent then did not get significantly higher than the crater rim. So it seems that the new vent allows the pressure to be released continuously. Perhaps the violence of this event led to the formation of the new opening. It is really amazing to watch this evolution.

      @@The20027 This will likely form a shield volcano over the coming months/years.
      Which means its altitude will eventually be high enough for the lava streams to reach populated areas. So yes, it can definitely have an effect on people and animals.

      @@The20027 Nobody settled in this area because they knew perfectly well it was geologically active. Unlike the rest of the world where they settle every goddamned rift, vent, and volcano

      @@tsm688 They didn't settle there because there's no way to live there. Impossible to farm on and water is quite far. Didn't make sense to settle.

    Definitely the strongest and highest burst we have seen.
    And soon after that the pulsing stopped, only constant flowing now.

      Don't forget to mention that smoke came from BOB immediately afterwards and a little lava on top of that .
      Maybe some more changes will happen this WE.

    So amazing to be watching this go through all its phases (so far). Getting to see it start from just a fissure, and the watching how it keeps building up structures. Don't usually get to see these things in the making 😊❤

    I love how the darker cooling lava, combined with the blue of the sky, gives certain parts of the fountain a purple/pink tint.

    In 1783 another fissure volcano on Iceland called Laki erupted. It was shooting lava fountains as high as 1,400m. This eruption was so large that it altered weather pasterns all over the globe, causing famines in Europe, Northen Africa, and even India. The Mississippi river froze as far south as New Orleans, and many historians credit that volcano and the resultant famine as a key component to the start of the French Revolution.

      Well, not a very good thing! But, if it were me, I'd prefer it be a small volcano, and I'd have a large backyard, and the volcano erupted relatively gently.
