My husband was prescribed Gabapentin when he developed Guillian Barre Syndrome. He was paralyzed below the neck for a year. He was one of the 20-30% left with permanent nerve damage so he still takes Gabapentin. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 1989. Lyrica didn't help at all but Gabapentin does. Ok, I had to comment...I've seen so much crap on here from doctors, pharmacists, etc..You are one of the first who are completely honest, and totally correct about this medication, in which I can comment on because I've been on it for quite a few years now along with other medications you have mentioned..Its good to see the right information given out for once..everyone should always discuss their medication interactions with their provider and see videos like this so if you brought up something a patient isnt aware of or questions they can discuss it with their doctor on the next visit! You speak calmly and are clear on what you say, instead of dancing around an issue...thanx for this!

I did a very heavy lifting job for 40 years, and the last 5 year of it I began to experience occasional numbness in my left hand, found myself dropping things without even knowing, had about 4 short bouts of Vertigo, eyes were jerking left and right, like my brain was doing cartwheels, pain and swelling in my back and Shoulder, and these things slowly crept up on me till I retired at 55, the pain in by back and shoulder got worse, so bad it would wake me up at night, thought maybe I had pulled muscles or torn tendons at work, my left tricep, fore arm back of hand and thumb felt like they were on fire, went to the Doc, she notice my back and shoulder were swelled way out, got X-rays that showed I had Arthritis in my neck, which was putting pressure on my spinal chord, she prescribed Gabapentin, 300mg three times a day and on the second day all the symptoms were gone, been on the drug now for 9 years without experiencing any of these crippling symptoms, have slight dizziness now and again but otherwise living a painless active life :)

man, I want to thank you for this. I'm new to this old man thing and have a lot to learn. I was diagnosed with pancreatitis. It sometimes bothers me when I eat something I'm not supposed to. Like anything fried. or pretty much everything I enjoy. When the pain hit I tried most all OTC I could think of to little to Zero avail. Anytime (I fell anyway) I mention excruciating pain to my PCP I suspect they may be thinking I'm fishing. No, I'm Not! My GI lady prescribed gabapentin 300mg at bedtime. This seems to have very little to no effect. I do have a referral to see a pain management guru in a couple of weeks so I will see how this works out. I've never used drugs in my life other than an occasional anti-acid. I'm taking my second Gabapentin 300 tonight.

I am a 68 year old male and have had migraines for 47 years. For the last few years, I've had major, severe migraine pain on the order of 20+ migraines per month. One Neurologist told me that my trigeminal nerve had simply become too sensitive to stimuli (bright lights, strong smells, eye strain, and sinus issues), but she stopped short of offering me anything that would/could help. Note: my wife uses Gabapentin (2400 mg) for nerve issues following her two knee replacements. My wife suggested to my PCP that I try Gabapentin. We started at a lower dosage but found that 2400 mg was very successful at controlling my migraines. For example, for the month of January 2021, I've only had 4 migraines instead of the normal 20+. I really think other migraine sufferers might benefit from Gabapentin.

Prescribed 300mg 3xday for post-herpetic neuropathy. (Herpes Zoster in upper left quadrant of my face, centered in my left eye, which is now partially paralyzed for last 12 years. My eye stays shut unless I consciously open it. As soon as I forget to use my muscles to keep the eye open, it falls shut.) Also pain and itching in left eye, and this symptom is greatly improved by the Gabapentin. Otherwise it's maddening! When I went off the medicine, the pain and itching in my eye returned with a vengeance. When I resumed the Gabapentin, the level of pain/itchiness fell off again. Very useful medication. My other brother (who can walk with a walker) did real bad on Gabs, he took 1200 mg (2 in the AM and 2 at night). He fell 4 times in a span of 2 days due to being unsteady and clumsy while taking Gabs. It makes you lose your balance, especially if you are weak to begin with. @@SuperGuanine Lions Mane is probably the best supplement to take in the long term for memory, cognitive performance and to prevent age-related brain diseases like Alzheimer's, dementia, etc. Its also the only thing that has a NGF (Nerve Growth Factor). It's also great for anxiety and gut health! I take 1gr daily with my mushroom coffee. So does my father

Gabapentin has been great as part of my on going treatment and care for the carpal tunnel and nerve pain in my hands from working as a chef. I experienced a lot of chronic pain and sleepless nights before this medicine came into my life. My alcohol consumption has decreased as well as my craving for alcohol. Goes great with my weed though

I take Gabapentin. Doc gave it to me for sciatica. I can only take it at night though because I lose a good bit of fine motor control and feel like I'm drunk. Can't drive on it at all.
