Dr. Diane, I just listened back to back to five of Dr. Williams Glassars' teachings. So far, you have presented a very detailed complex lecture in such a excellent consise manner. I did regress to a 5th grader at 21:06 when you remarked, "Now you may want to read this next part very *carefully* ".

I'm over 2 years in Gestalt therapy and we made progress but was always something that seem like ellusive and are points in my hour whre i feel i just lost connection with my T. I'm now understanding more but i'm also afraid in knowing more from the process, the therapy will loose some intensity. Some say: let the therapy go natural(u are the patint and trust your T, while others say education is good for the process and will empower me to do my own work outside the therapy room(should be the goal). What's your take on this?

I just had my 1st interview/session with a gestalt, EMDR Therapist, we covered so much ground about my parents and the environment that formed me. I just read on line, she actually formed a frame work of what type of personality disturbance or disorder I might have by what I focused on and by what I left out. That creeps me out a little. I wasn't interested in her diplomas on the wall, her office furniture or how expensive it might be ( rule out narcissism), I didn't need to sit close to the door, feel in control and have an escape plan if I needed to bolt ( rule out schizoid). I didn't kick my shoes off and snuggle up under a throw and say she was loving like my granny ( possibly rule out borderline). Ha! That was the only 3 examples on Psychology Today. I wonder what it says about me I'm diving into Gestalt and how it works with great interest? I don't want to manipulate my treatment in any conscious way but I thought of gestalt as a little esoteric. The Esalen Retreat, Big Sur, Timothy Leery, LSD....etc. I'm excited for my next visit. I'm excited for EMDR when she thinks I'm ready. Good luck to you.
