    I have a cub, it's a life saver for people who cannot afford a car, or a scooter, and it even allows me to do kinda long distance trips

    In Greece these bikes were the first entry level to a motorcycle we call them papakia for every teenager until today. I had the yamaha mate 50cc in 1991 was 5 horse power with a top speed of 60 kms , my first motorcycle at the age 19 a and i still love them ..few years later i got a 250 Honda nsr 250 2 stroke.
    So they are affordable motorcycle to move around even today for everyone. And i want to add in the 80s and 90s they were only Japanese : Honda , yamaha , kawasaki susuki , and later the market open up for Taiwan and China.
    The ones from Taiwan are very good the sym vf 125 and the sym vf 185 with a clutch.

      I like the SYM VF but I think this is more innkeeping with the philosophy of a cub because it's just so cheap. The VF feels a lot more premium and expensive compared to this.

      The Sym vf 185 its beautiful and very fast motorcycle , with 18 horse power , 185 cc its a giant on its category and with a top speed over 150 kms, its really good for all age of riders.The price in Greece is 3.075 euro and the symvf 125 costs 2.075 euro and 10 horsepower. The quality of sym is really brilliant and those motorcycles are not cheap, they are affordable.
      Also these bikes have very good fuel efficiency, with the gasoline now past over 2 euro in Greece, they are so economical.But also all scooters are so good , you saw them in Athens ,so don't get me wrong.

    Look...In Greece we love them since I remember myself,late 70's.Usually we have a motorcycle AND a cub or a scooter.
    In fact,there are many cubs with enough storage space either big or acceptable...
    Try Keeway Target 125 for example,TCB Wind 125 , Yamaha Crypton S 110(try to find info) and many others.
    All these are best sellers.
    Daytona is actually Dayang with more "catchy" brand name...They are cheap to maintain,have reliable engine(100k km or even more),good fuel efficiency and easy to manoeuvre in the city traffic.We can go everywhere with them,that's why we love them.

    Scooters are undeniably more comfortable. More space for luggage etc. But personally I don't prefer the driving position with the scooters. In scooters the legs are further forward than the axis of the body, so the legs do not participate in bearing the weight of the body while driving, and in general they do not participate in the driving, unlike cubs in which the legs are on the same axis of the body , left and right on the steps.

    My ant thought that I knew how to ride a cub when he gave me her keys.I was in highschool and I had not even touched a cub before. After 100 meters I had figured out by myself how to change gears. My bicycle had also gears ... Easy and light as a bicycle. A honda C50.

    • @RideWithAlex
      @RideWithAlex  Před 2 lety +1

      If you are used to motorcycles it's a bit strange the cub at the beginning because your brain us used to 1-down 2-up and you find yourself back in neutral :))) and you think you didn't go into second and pull again up harder to go for second but on a cub you find yourself in 4th at that point :))). It's easier for people who haven't ridden motorcycles, but people who are used to motorcycles they have a habit of how to change gears.

    Salut! Dupa teste nenumarate cu un super cub din 2019 in uk/londra, cel nou, am renuntat la el pentru ca nu avea kick starter. Mi-am luat recent un honda wave de 110 din 2013. Sunt in Londra si planuiesc sa ma indrept spre Romania, cu pasager si ceva bagaje de camping. Mi-a placut foarte mult tripul in ucraina/moldova cu Marius. La intoarcerea in ro chiar as vrea sa ne intalnim la o tura, caci mi-a placut mult plimbarea voastra si decenta personala, in special: ''ma fac nu am auzit gluma''..Mariuss!! In rest, apreciez mult voiosenia si abordarea directa a subiectelor. In ro am avut un dnepr k750 cu atas, motor care se poate vedea la muzeul militar, caci l-am donat unui nene, care in perioada aia, acu 12 ani, avea mai mult timp si resurse financiare sa-l intretina. Sper sa ne vedem cu bine. Mult spor si la cat mai multi km de povesti. Salut!

    Good discussion. A cub was the best solution for beginners, women, inside a city budget transport before the development of new scooters. 40 years ago when I was in the high school the only alternative to a motorcycle was a Honda cub or a Vespa. Vespas' had small wheels and they were heavy. So a cub was a gift from the heaven. Its not so much these days, but still the simplicity of operation and maintenance is the reasin for their wide usage in south east asia where they use it as a taxi or pick up truck!!
    You are a SYM guy and I'm sure you know about the SYM VF3i. Its a powerful underbone (or cub style) bike. Here in Iran is getting popular due to its speed and low weight. Young guys call it SYM missile!!
    Love your work. Keep up the good work.

    • @RideWithAlex
      @RideWithAlex  Před 2 lety +2

      I have a video in the VF3i (or as we call it here the VF185) but that has a normal transmission with a manual clutch. I think the true cub is the semi-automatic transmission. Although at first it seams idiotic the way it works after you learn how to use it it's actually quite fun to click through the gears and blip the throttle on downshifts.

    Caracteristici dinamice excelente, chiar uimitoare, costuri de întreținere și rulaj mici, preț (cel mai) mic... și există și soluții de stocare, se pot monta coburi, top-case etc., am văzut chiar long distance trips cu cub-uri, cu rucsaci verticali uriași legați bine între rider și top-case, foarte comozi ca spătar, hahaha! Astea-s avantaje considerabile, de aceea e atât de iubită categoria asta de vehicule. Probabil că sunt cele mai practice și... pragmatice. Nu trebuie să fii un paki, ca să-ți iei așa ceva, cub-urile acum au devenit și ele o modă și un trend. Iar chestia cu vitezele se rezolvă așa: e ca la throtle-ul de avion, înainte accelerezi, înapoi decelerezi... doar că e vorba de cutia de viteze, și o manevrezi cu piciorul stâng. :))) Cum să nu iubești un cub?! :) :) :) Pentru conformitate: oscilez puternic între Cruisym 300 și Maxsym 400... :P

    Kick start saves wear on the starting ring, plus also you to pump oil around the engine. skinny tyres, look at 60s racers, I would prefer fully enclosed chain..

      Se aduc pe comanda, de aceea nu sunt pe site. Doar ca vezi ca e o mare diferență între ele. Cel de 125 e cub standard cu cutie semi automata (fără maneta de ambreiaj) dar cel de 185 are motor și transmisie normale de motocicleta, cu ambreiaj manual și 6 trepte. Cel de 185 e practic o motocicleta normala cu o forma de cub.

    Hi, is it possible for non citizens of Romania to buy a new scooter in 🇷🇴 get a number plate and a tour in Europe?

    • @RideWithAlex
      @RideWithAlex  Před 2 lety +1

      It's a bit complicated but not impossible. Buying is not a problem, but without registration all you can do in Romania is get "transit registration" issued. The transit registration takes up to 20 days to be issued and is valid for 30 days beginning the date it is issued. From what country are you?
