- A huge thank you to my good friend, Paul for sending in this Gandy Dancer by Bachmann. Also known as a pump truck or pump trolley, it basically depends on where you live as to what it's called. Basic but beautiful is how I'd describe it. Haha

PLEASE DON'T SEND ANYTHING IN TO THE CHANNEL, FOR THE TIME BEING AS I HAVE A LOT OF MAIL TO PROCESS. But rest assured, I'll be sure to announce when it's okay to send stuff in, once again. And I'll update all Mailbox Monday videos accordingly.
Thank you!

I've always referred to it as "that pump thing cowboys used".
A great review of what is either a really cool or really disappointing little toy. I'm still really glad you're back!
Bachmann got it a bit wrong. "Gandy Dancer" is a term American railroadmen once used to describe track maintenance crews. Most normal people here (in North America) just call it a handcar and always have.
hey, IC82 my name is Cody I have been watching your channel for a while and I live in Ohio,USA and I love your videos ... model train enthusiast's unite!

Another great video Will. In the area of the states where I live, we always called them "hand cars".
Bachmann over here in the US is actually on the lower end of pricing and detail. The steam locos don't get opening fireboxes and cab roof doors like Bachmann Branchline does. However, Bachmann USA does offer a lot more locos with DCC sound.
Great review Will, What a cute little pump truck
I want one of these! I was contemplating purchasing one just a few days. I am going to have to now!
1:08 I've been watching this channel since about 2015 and it has come to its peek and dropped to where it is no longer a Gandy Dancer, but a handcart. Also, Will's expression.XD
A cute little wagon/train. Great video!
Always loved this pump car, had a go with a real one in Germany once, fun times.
Here in NZ we call it Jiggers, but they are of different design, with one handle you push and pull with a few buds on each side, and they have seats
Great video there mate, this model looks nice indeed.
Love it! I got one of those myself, it’s the funniest thing I’ve ever seen on a model railway 😂😂😂
In Australia we actually have both the HO and OO scale trains from Bachmann from both America and Britain
Another great review, always liked something about those gandy dancers, think its the quirkiness. Also nice to see my s stock appear fro the third review running, its starting to become a celebrity guest by the looks of things, i shall have to get a display cabinet with a plaque ready for when she returns. Keep up the good work as always. Ash
These Bachmann HO hand cars can be found for sale on eBay where sellers often mistakenly call them N scale due to their small size. In scale, they are very much over-sized compared to their prototypes. Pump cars vanished from American railroads when when gasoline-powered "speeders" took their place. (Bachmann also made working HO American style speeders.) In turn, speeders were replaced by "hi-rail" vehicles which can operate on both road and rail.
Thomas Levy yeah they are unprototypical but they are fun.
This is the guy that got me from thomas and friends kid toys to model raildroading
Also i got that in a set that is not made any more
Love your videos!
Bachmann began making those in the 1980's, I believe. I have an old one and it suffers from two problems -- Overheating and the slightest bit of fluff or hair jams up the main gear. It's very fiddly to disassemble for service. But I love it, even with its flaws.
I think that the little gandy dancer thing is quite funny when it's goin fast. haha lol
A velocipede on a railway generally refers to something a little different. They are 3 wheeled hand pumped rail vehicles. Imagine a bike on one rail with an outrigger supporting it on the other rail. Unlike a bike, they're powered by pumping the handlebars front and back instead of pedals.
As for the term gandy dancer for a car, even in the US that is a bit of a misnomer. The term does actually mean a track worker, specifically the ones who would allign the track with bars. The team of guys would shove their bars in time to a song for coodination, hence the term dancer. I'm not quite sure why bachmann decided to call it that, but they've made those for decades and they've always used that odd name.
You said that you would like to work on one of these, I did it at the Strasburg Railroad in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and it is very hard to do. Me and my father were going up a grade though but it is a really interesting and fun experience. Anyway your review was great as always!
I have one of these and it is excellent, It does run very well at a slow speed and even over turnouts. The only issue I have found is that it can cut out on bends.
It's actually the equivalent to a 4 wheeled railroad bicycle, lol! A great addition to a railway layout!
Wow cool! Your are the best!
Me: "He's not going to give it a high rating, its too basic."
IC82: Overall 10/10

Great review it's amazing it Evan has a motor in it
This "joke" is quite old now; I remember I saw the 1st on a modell fair in the end of the 90's. My club has 2 (or maybe a 3rd in pieces) of these and those are a lot of pain to run. The axles needs to be well oiled, the wheels, and the track must be cleaned often, and the motor overheats fast, so about 1 hour running maximum allowed - than cleaning, and rest - and do to its size (and 1 axle driving) its very "layout sensitive". We usually run these on a small tram "demo" table where there are no points (or any other extras). Bachmann also has a small working rail-car (and a bus too) witch is very small too, but much more usable.
If u want to see something really small in loco look at the Busch H0f mining locos (like: item-code 12115) .
congratulations to your brother
Brilliant review, I'd love to see an N Gauge one :)
I've wanted one of these for years, great review! Wanted ever since saw one in Thomas the Tank Engine, series 5 Haunted Henry in 1998. Got Thomas diecast ERTL one
I know various names seem to survive for this little cart, but as far as I know the USA have always called the cart a Gandy-Dancer perhaps because of the name given to the 'navvies.'
its not good to do this but that little guy can push a few wagons or 1 coach so haha would love to see you test that the one i have can but it wears it out faster saddly just figured you would enjoy this little note haha stay awesome my friend love your videos and im glad your back!!!!
Hi mate, great video! Please can you do a windhoff mpv review (by bachmann)? 😃
So cute
You should take a look at some North American trains! I think it would be awesome since I live in America and I LOVE all the American trains. Also you did a great job on this video and I love all your videos so keep up the good work!
It seems like the EU and US are the only ones putting DCC sound into pretty mych every model. I wonder why it hasn't taken off as well in the UK.
Now that all 4 of the first batch are out, will there be a review of a Bachmann Baldwin in the not too distant future? I can tell you they are amazing!
awesome
Lots of people seem to like the name velopede I think it's a mixture of a velociraptor and a centipede
I got the same thing today!
gives me nostalgia of leokimvideo´s ´Mini me´´
As others have said it is known as a Hand Car or Truck, A velocipede was usually a 3 weel version. www.trha.ca/trha/velocipede/
could you do a video on survicing triang 4 - 6 - 2 locomotives as i have one which keeps on cutting out after a couple of minuts
Is IC82 so cool now that he is hovering?
heh Bachmann has made that handcar for 40+ years!
a velocipede is a THREE wheeled hand car
you work it like a rowing exercise machine
I want a real one someday
Here in the midwest they are/were called hand cars.
The hand cart is the past present and future.
Thanks for reviewing my train
I love it.....
Great video will how about a hornby Rocket
Pleaaaaaaaaaaaase continue on your old APT-P project 🚄
What gauge is your track/ railway
We In 'MERICA!!! Call 'Em Handcars, But I Have Always Preferred British Terms For Anything About Trains!
Hoover you got it right
well if you want to review some more american locos I think that can happen. But the size of curves you run might be small for a UP challenger #3977.
Wow
When are you going to do the inglenook project
It would be so funny with the hornby turbo controller
Bruce: pump it mate
Garry: mate *puff puff*
Bruce: mate did you see two Sheila pumping a railcar?
I got to opperate one once, but i lost controll of it and smashed it into a loco by accident.
Lol the fact they even made it tho xd
What cheap, train set would you reccomend for a 10 year old
So Smol
You should download this for train simulator. It's free from steam :)
A D A D A D A D A D A D A D A D AAAAAAA keyboard got stuck
I call it a hand cart
In french, we say draisine (the second pronunciation was the good one), but for this exemple you must add "à main" (with hands) because the draisine is actuated by the feets like a bicycle. like this one : www.molignee.be/draisines/draisines.htm
Oops, i forgot to sa that you have a very nice channel, thank you, i learn a lot
Oups, j'ai oublié de dire que vous avez une très belle chaîne, merci, j'apprends beaucoup
Oops, mi forgesis diri, ke vi havas tre belan kanalon, dankon, mi lernas tre
I've never seen a hand car outside of North America! Do any British examples survive? There are some small rail museums in North America (mostly within an old depot) in which the hand car is their biggest piece of equipment!
I'm surpised that Bachmann UK imports Bachmann USA items, but not the other way around! There's quite a few British moddelers in North America, but At least hornby sells some of theri British trains in north America!
Try ModelRailwayImports in Ontario a mail order place with a website and phone number you can place a order. They will ship to America through Canada Post and US Mail. While their inventory isn't large, they will attempt to get an item when possible...
You can go to www.models11.com where you can find Bachmann Branchline models. For those wanting European models, you can go to www.reynaulds.com
I have this
Yeet
There would be a problem with self service underground pump trucks... There'd be too many strikes...
But at least the underground users couldn't moan if the trains weren't to time as it would literally be on their shoulders!
Clowns go around on 1 wheel and hamsters
Repair that crack on the corner of the skirting board with plastic padding - that's what I did. That's the only thing that will actually repair it!
Not one for dcc layouts. The chip is as big.
Will you be willing to review a union pacific 4-8-8-4 big boy. I can send you as much info you would like. Go to my channel and see what it is like I can't upload for a while though. I can give you my Facebook and gmail.
8:20 Mind the gap.
Won't get your Legomanbiffo boombox in that 🌈😷🇬🇧

Yay i suck and hate my self

This is what a typical UK locomotive will look like post Brexit.
Wow
