  • On today's episode of the Model Train Novice we unbox and set-up the Bachmann point-to-point reversing track set as well as a Philadelphia Transit Company PCC Streetcar !
This videos provides you a great overview on what one of these tracks can do for your layout as we also put the streetcar to the test.

I have a 16 ft shelf in my home office. I was thinking about something like this that would run behind me during zoom meetings for interesting conversation starter. O scale would be a bit better for the camera. Do you know of any options?

MTH has put out some really nice O Scale Bump N Go Trolleys. We picked one up off of trainworld.com and it works great. It would certainly make for quite the conversation starter. You can also get the O Scale trolley track from Lionel that makes announcements for boarding to go with it !

I like that! I have bought some HO trains and track for the first time since I was about 8 or 9 for my grand daughter, she loves trains so I of course encourage her :) I bought used stuff so of course repairs were necessary, but at least they are pretty simplistic. I want to build a simple track layout for her, nothing fancy so we dont have to sit on the floor anymore lol. That self reversing trolley certainly adds an interesting feature though, I may have to consider that one day!

It’s a nice little add on to a setup. Def gives some character to a simple loop on a table which we currently have. Welcome aboard !!

I have a question about the track configuration. After much confusion, I find that the only pieces of track that have the reversing capabilities is the A-B track pieces. If you put one of the A-B pieces at the ends of the line, and A-A pieces connected in the center, it works. The set also came with B-B pieces, 2 of them and no matter where I place them they don't work. Is there a configuration that works with all the pieces?

Why would you reverse a single ended PCC car? I can understand a double ended Kawasaki or older Red Arrow cars.

I bought the same track. Yes it does what it says. But switches too quickly..

will a Bachmann DCC controller work with this set so that the trolly has sound?

The trolley track actually comes with its own controller that provides sound to the DCC trolley

L can not understand the instruction sheet on how to connect the tracks for it to operate. I don't understand the connection sequence.

Hey George, are you following the A/B track set-up and connecting the corresponding letters to each other? It is a little tricky.

Can I set the delay time at the station? Seems to depart way too fast.

I don’t believe you can with a basic controller. I am not sure though if any of the more advanced DCC controllers may give that option. I would say it stops for maybe 2 seconds before taking off again. So, yes, if looking for a more realistic minute+ stop there may be that option with a different control

@@TheHobbyistNovice thanks. Can I add additional stops. Maybe one in the middle as well as the ends?
