    Very helpful tear down and rebuild for both ends of that awesome machine. Fun stuff! I give that pvc spacer about another year before you get an unexpected low rider experience. As they deteriorate and the micro plastics clog up your new valves you’ll feel your dampening get wonky. Good luck and I truly wish you safe travels. Thanks for sharing your “non-adventure” experience!

    Hey buddy, I have the same problem with my honda ADV scooter. I just got it serviced a month ago, got the fork oil replaced but after riding it for 2k km, I noticed the sag got worse like when i sit on my bike, more than half of the fork travel is used already. I’m thinking it’s probably because of the springs which have gotten soft now. Thanks for the idea. I’m planning to get my springs replaced soon. Ride safe! 😊

    • @os1350
      @os1350 Před 3 měsíci +1

      Same with me.
      I have already 55000km on the bike. Have to check if the springs still have the original length.
      Did you find your reason?

    • @japhdanaoofficial2205
      @japhdanaoofficial2205 Před 3 měsíci

      @@os1350 When you pull the springs out of the forks, for sure the height stays the same just like the brand new ones but the thing is, the springs actually get soft over time and no longer have the same resistance as it once were. I suggest you get new springs and I guarantee you, you would feel like riding a brand new bike/scooter suspension wise. Hope this helps 😊

    • @os1350
      @os1350 Před 3 měsíci

      @@japhdanaoofficial2205 thanks or your comment. In the meantime I checked the length and is has the original length of 395mm. The spring should be changed when it is shorter than 387mm (-8mm), according the Honda manual.
      If the spring gets weak with original length, how soft it must be when ist is already 8mm shorter?
      I have to dismantle, clean it and check if everything is ok. The exchange of the spring itself is done in a short time.
      Best regards

    instead of steel, PVC pipe? would plastic be able take the weight an repeated pressure of impact ? I am not sure if plastic is a good substitute to stee!

    • @AfricaTwin-Stuff
      @AfricaTwin-Stuff  Před 4 měsíci

      PVC? Not sure it would be strong enough. There is a fair bit of sideways bend pressure when lifting.
      Anyway the weight saving just on those three lengths of pipe would be minimal.
      Most of the weight is in the ratchet itself.

    • @AfricaTwin-Stuff

  • @MsDenver2
    @MsDenver2 Před rokem +1

    Watching your fork upgrades and found it interesting that you used pvc for the new longer spacers. So I was wondering is there any danger that the pvc being not as strong as metal could they break or crack over time or is there no load on the spacers at all?👍🏍

    • @AfricaTwin-Stuff
      @AfricaTwin-Stuff  Před rokem +1

      As the springs compress, load is put on the spacers. However, the PVC is very strong under compression along it’s length.
      If I had aluminium tube to hand I may have used that. But the PVC is holding up just fine.

    • @AfricaTwin-Stuff
      @AfricaTwin-Stuff  Před 2 lety +1

      It might be possible but not recommended.

    You're videos have saved me a fortune by giving me the confidence to do these jobs myself - thanks for your time! When you were drilling the holes for the PD valves how did you know where to place the holes? Is there a website that shows accurate instructions for installation as the YSS instructions don't mention anything about drilling? Much appreciated! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

    • @AfricaTwin-Stuff
      @AfricaTwin-Stuff  Před 3 lety

      YSS now say it’s not required to drill these holes for the NC. But I can’t understand that, as drilling the holes allows the PD valves to work.
      Anyway, it’s not critical where the extra holes are. Thule just need to be above and close to the existing holes.
