- Veracity is about a popular African American girl named Olivia, who is inadvertently outed by her friends after she develops feelings for the new girl at her high school. Written by Greene as a senior in the South Side of Chicago, Illinois, Veracity explores the tensions and stigma of being gay in the Black community. Written by Janaya Greene, and directed by Seith Mann.

For 15 years, Scenarios has asked teens to share their realities, and they have responded with a raw and revealing constellation of voices of what it means to be a teenager today. Scenarios uses the incredible power of storytelling and filmmaking to create curricula the gives students the chance to speak out, be heard and lead on the issues that really matter to not only themselves but their communities. We start by bringing our REAL DEAL curriculum and films into middle school and high school classrooms. The curriculum engages students to think critically and creatively about the issues they face. I loved this short film. I've been following Scenarios USA for ten years now. The films get better and better each time. This film forces people in the African American community to deal with these issues head on. Suicide, depression, and sexual orientation are very real in our community, and none of these issues are easy to talk about. Thanks Scenarios USA for starting the conversation!

After watching the whole film I must say this was touching especially the age group used, the ethnicity and it focusing on so many areas like coming out, rejection, social approval, and embracing one's truth. Great Work! The chemistry between the actresses is great and the story seems so raw and real.

Olivia is so sweet! It's very comforting and special when someone welcomes you and makes you feel comfortable when you're new.
Also no one has mentioned this is KIKI LAYNE who is now in If Beale Street Could Talk! I saw this short film maybe a year ago and was so excited to see her in the trailer for Beale.
Great job with writing this and the acting. So emotionally driven but a good ending.

No disrespect intended towards guys, but this is a PERFECT example of what I've previously argued is the difference between Lesbian entertainment written and produced by Lesbians vs Lesbian entertainment written and produced by Men (to make money off lesbians).
Male writers seem to think we're boneheaded dudes with breasts and that all we do is run around, squaring up in hyper-masculine face-offs, then have lots of random sex. It's dumb.
Males don't understand how complex our minds and emotions are. We're Lesbians yet very much still FEMALES no matter if your "label" is Femme, Stud or in between.
Sorry, but I think males write crappy Lesbian stories.

Yes!!! Often men depict lesbians in their own stories as objects of entertainment. We had a big discussion about the kissing scene (the Director was a straight male, the writer was not) - Do you think it goes on to long? Does it feel natural or does it seem like they are "performing" for the audience?
@@scenariosusa My issue is the same one I have with every show or movie that shows "that kiss".
It's too sudden. One minute something unrelated is happening, then the next their all over each other.
I never understand that.
Maybe it's just me but I've never personally experienced or heard locker room talk of the first kiss just happening out of nowhere like that.
For me it's usually shared secrets and vulnerabilities exposed that leads to TRUST as the tension builds, which then leads to the first kiss.
I hope that was clear, sorry. Lol.

Outstanding short film. I was pleasantly immersed in the quality of the production and simply blown away by the incredible acting. I could have watched two hours more. Film it, franchise it, and give the clever people in and behind this movie every award and opportunity possible. Cinema at its absolute finest and an achievement for the creators that stands out miles ahead of the common lesbian short film.
