    Awesome! This is exactly the kind of thing I envisioned when I first heard about the EyeX. It's not meant to replace existing input methods, only to augment them.
    What you're looking at can tell the computer a lot about what your intentions are, and software which takes advantage in intelligent ways can really enhance the user experience.

    This is one of the best technologies currently, and has developed a lot in the past few years. I believe it's ready to be brought into the consumer market now. I hope more operating systems and devices, like monitors, all-in-ones, laptops and TVs come with it built in, maybe even one of the gesture input devices can come with it inbuilt, making things even easier.
    But nonetheless, the best place for this maybe VR if it can be implemented as well inside a VR or AR goggle as it is currently for this reality...

Tobii eye tracking is meant to be a complement to our "normal" way of of using a computer. and that's the features described here. Have a great day! :)

    Do not buy tobii products.
    I am an alienware 17r4 user. This laptop has tobii tracking device built-in, and it was one of the main reasons why I got this laptop. Approximately two months ago, the head tracking stopped working. When I contacted the support they said they received the same complaint from multiple users and that they did inform the R&D team about it and will talk to me when they have information from R&D team. I was like, cool okay. Since then, headtracking does not work and no news from the support team.
    Yesterday I saw an article on the tobii website saying that “Unfortunately head tracking is no longer functioning in Alienware 17 R4, Acer V Nitro and Predator monitors therefore no longer have functional head tracking”. I mean what? What What kind of a conpany do that? Is it even legal? You sell your product and then you make them stop working and say sorry. It is like you buy a car and after 2-3 year they say sorry we made your engine stopped working and you won’t have a functional engine no longer.
    I was planning to buy Tobii 5 before this happened, but how can I know that they will or not take headtracking out of it after 1-2 years. Just like they did with these products.
    After I first used tobii I said I will never buy a laptop without built-in tobii. Now I say i will never buy any Tobii because I do not know if they will kill it or not after some time.
    I do not see any reason to trust to Tobii now. Stay away from it.
    Link to the article: help.tobii.com/hc/en-us/articles/4408130344337-Head-tracking-is-no-longer-working-for-those-using-Tobii-Core

  • @arsukfjorden
    @arsukfjorden Před 7 lety

    Having to not move the courser across the screen, but still have to "fine tune" the clicking point with the trackpad is not enough of an advantage for me to consider buying an eye tracker.
    However know this Tobii: When the eye tracking becomes precise enough to replace(and not just assist) the mouse/trackpad I will completely ditch my mouse and trackpad forever and commit to eye tracking completely. Having to not move my hand from the keyboard to the mouse/trackpad and back again would HUGELY increase potential productivity speed!
    PS. The style of many layers of video in the video above is awful as it is very difficult to figure out what to focus on and seeing the pretty girl moving her eyes really does not contribute at all anyway. The Gaze Traze feature does that more than well enough.

    • @TobiiGaming
      @TobiiGaming  Před 7 lety

      Hi E!
      Good points there.
      Our eye tracking is mainly for gaming integration though.
