I agree with the Men of Iron and even Ben and Toms idea, make them like Knights on steroids, fucking huge model (each one is Stompa Sized), you can get like maybe 3 per 2000 points and make them fully wacky shit (guns that fire miniature black holes etc.). These were one of the things that led to the Dark Age of Technology Human empires downfall. It also goes to display just how fucking absurd the DAoT Humans were, it took Fighting the Men of Iron, The birth of Slaanesh AND the psychic Awakening all happening at roughly the same time to cause the Empire to collapse...and they still beat the Men of Iron whilst everything was falling apart.
These were AI machines that had creations which could literally *eat suns*, So these would be the lesser 'remnants' of those original war machines, ones the DAoT would consider 'basic troops' but to the Imperium are pretty much knights with the killing power of a much larger Titan.
Though I do disagree with Tom on the design, that's too much of a T-800 ripoff design for me, I want the fucking weird ones like the Kaban Machine design in the Horus Heresy collected visions book.

I feel like Men of Iron shouldn't be humanoid despite the name. Partly because they'd just look like weird Necrons but mainly because they're AI rebelling against humans, they should have no reason nor need to stick to humanoid shapes. Like, they should have almost no individual parts we can recognise, just a metal amalgam of death.

@@BenersantheBread Exactly, I don't want T-800 ripoffs, I want fucking *weird* machines because these were things created by other machines like you said.

@@luketfer I was kinda embarrassed that THIS was what came to mind but the scorpion thing in one of the Bay Transformers movies was sorta what I was imagining.
      That thing was scary.

Ambulls are just Umber Hulks from D&D. Not even changed a little bit

I imagine the Men of Iron would just look like legions of Boston dynamics robots.

The Men of iron just look like Flayer Necrons, I also want a titanic flayed one to be playable.

Personally I don't like the Men of Iron, they look like off-brand Necrons. In the lore the Men of Iron should be much weaker and less advanced than the Necrons, pumping them up so much is a bit of a fanboy power-trip. They're a weird attempt to retcon the reason for the galactic humanity's fall. Psycho AI isn't original and just lifted from the Dune series. I think they could only work if they were the victims, that humans turned on them even though they were friendly and destroyed them.

If you're concerned that 40k is stealing ideas from other franchises, this might not be the setting for you, there's not a whole lot of 40k that's even remotely original 😂

I know, but Men of Iron are just a bit too on the nose, even more than other things. They're boring too.@@baalrog887
