- The easiest and coolest way to get rid of your Explorer's hood pop rod.
Ford should have absolutely done this for us!!!
Anyway, after checking out several other hood strut assemblies, I chose this one because it doesn't require ANY cutting or drilling to your car's panels.
Best of all it's incredible reasonably priced!!!

Thanks for posting. I purchased the same struts and will test it out this weekend. I will use some thread locker just in case. Hopefully the brackets don't bend too much.

Just an FYI that to date, my struts are working perfectly and no bent brackets .

This should of been standard on all 2021 Explorers! Who wants to mess with the "Mickey Mouse" rod, especially if your 'short' and have to use a step stool just to get to the dipstick. I don't have any Texaco guys rushing out to check my oil!

Absolutely!! Along with a few other things like when you turn off the auto start-stop it should remain off!! But still, the Explorer is pretty cool..
Ford shouldn’t be pinching pennies on a 60K vehicle. There’s a lot of this cost cutting on their vehicles lately.

What size is the bolt used for the bracket on the car side?

The head size is 13mm. I'm not sure about the thread size though. The Limited comes with the cross bar. @ecobooster8298 just realized my 2021 Ford Explorer does not have the threaded holes. Do you have a solution?
@@xraydesigns3880 you mean to install the cross bar? Get the bar then place it on the two shock housings and mark the holes to drill. Tap the holes. Remember when tapping, always drill rhe holes small so the tap can create the threads.
Or, if the intent is to mount the hood struts, I do believe there are other type with different mounting style. If I find the videos I'll shoot them out to you!

This is the other style. But you'll need to drill too.
What’s the secret to getting the hood studs to grab the nut?? That’s all I have left to do
Hi IOF-dy8om, not sure I clearly understand your question. Did you mean how to insert the nut into the hood then screw in the post onto the nut?
You have to remove the two pins securing the sound proof liner. Then, insert the nut on the provided stick and align it to the hole on the hood. Then screw on the post with the washer. It's a bit tricky , you just need to bend and position the stick.
@@ecobooster8298 exactly what I meant :-). Can’t get the post to grab the nut under the hood. It’s been frustrating (add in its 97 degrees lol). Any tips / tricks for aligning and getting that post to grab the nut threads?
@@IOF-dy8om Absolutely! Yes it is tricky.
Try aligning the nut to the hole from the square hole insertion hole. But align from the outside. This way you can see exactly how far you need to insert the stick and you can make the necessary bends on the stick.
Then insert the stick and you should be able to guide it easily.

You'll have to replace those every couple years. Cheap chinese junk will leak out the nitrogen charge eventually. Prop rods always work.
To easily acess this unreliable engine and transmission ?
Why does Ford even use these cheap prop rods pieces of junk!!!
