Gotta love Doug's variety
Doug is weird like that
I think it's no secret that Doug can't stand " normal " cars, and his " normal " car videos have become more sarcastic
I think after COVID itll be time for a euro trip though. I wanna see some peugeots and citroens
And this will probably get more views than the F50
@@natehardy3849 I think Doug loves "normal" cars just as much as weird cars, because "normal" cars have a lot of weird stuff still and they're what the average person buys and drives.
6:13 Those are not the cup holders, you're supposed to use those lids as the second bottom for the actual cup holders so it fits for the short drinks
@@shanejoseph8132 im starting to think he s doing some of this on purpose. I mean top gear used to do it all the time when they "misinterpreted" a car feature like complaining ab the m4 gt3 can't go over road bumps :))
I was laughing when he was talking about that
thats even dumber than before lmao
@@gabrieldenouden7301 makes me wonder how many other things we learned wrong :))
Ye, he basically done the same thing with the heated lights, if it were to be blue and red it would have a higher 'effect' on the eyes at night as compared to orange and green.
Also at the beginning of the video he starts ragging the venza for not being enthusiastic with 'only' a 2.5l hybrid engine and 220hp, ffs Doug it's a family SUV from toyota, not a Porsche cayenne turbo...
He does this all the time, comparing fuel friendly vehicles to enthusiastic vehicles...
I'm a Toyota salesman and I am 100% serious when I say I watch Doug's videos to learn the ins and outs of our inventory lol
Wanna explain why they built a "hybrid" that can go only 5 miles on a charge?
@@stevethomas2285 lol
More reliable, too, than a Ford or Jeep. I’m in my empty nest and I like that it’s a much bigger Prius replacement when my 2011 approaches 200K miles.
Then you’re not very good.
@@racebannon2332 Or maybe they don't provide adequate training for their salespeople.
The cup holder things are for the normal cup holders so you can feasibly reach smaller drinks. Like a booster seat for cups.
Exactly. And im pretty sure doug talked about a similar feature in a different car. I was so confused.
No. The cup holders are Toyota stupidity. As stupid as you are.
Doug: I want 26 cup holders in my Ferrari

Silverado and Sierra Hybrid: *am I a joke to you?*
Yes, yes you are.
I'm not a Toyota enthusiast but this video absolutely feels like an anti-Toyota presentation. For me the exterior design looks pretty sharp and stylish. And several other features like the Frost sunroof, 220hp with 40mpg are very attractive and appealing.
He hates it because it’s a Toyota. That’s why.
Don't fully trust Doug
It does look exactly like my 2005 rx330 though
@@justanotheraviator2357 Exactly is a very strong choice of word. It looks nothing like a 2nd gen RX.

USA: Venza, a midsize SUV....
Meanwhile in EU:
*WHAT IS THAT TANK, IT'S HUGE.*
Exactly 😂. India too.
Ye lmao I saw some sort of muscle car from the 1980-2000s, (no clue which year) and it was gigantic... DOWN THE MOTORWAY 😂

Because Suburban.
@@jamesengland7461 even bigger than the suburban, there's an 'XL' that just makes it more of a bus. i live in texas and i still think those are huge
7:05 those plastic discs are meant to be placed in the standard cup holders to change the depth height for shorter drinks so they do not get lost in the cupholder. What you saw is just a place to store them when not being used.
Good pickup. Doug really misses a lot of basic stuff, doesn't he?
@@andoletube He always use bigger one, like most of US people does.

Fun fact, I just got a venza xle and mine has a safe optioned in the center console. Because of the option, you do not get the tray with the two cup holder fillers

RIP LOL
My wife films my videos for my channel. I go into the mountains with trucks and bag on em. I really want people to laugh.

Only idles for an hour so that you don’t asphyxiate your self after falling asleep in it while in your garage. Actually a very good idea.
Correct. And other uses too
Not sure about that. I have a Toyota hybrid and sometimes it does not turn off if you put it in park and press the "start" button too quickly. Same with starting it. If you push the "start" button and then put it in drive too quickly, it thinks start wasn't ever pressed.
It must be some sort of software "issue" in the hybrid drivetrain that is there for a reason and they don't want to take out.
And when I say quickly, not young Clint Eastwood quickly. Just average quickly, like somebody not 70 or 80 years old.
@Nick S. It’s called Toyota Automatic Engine Shut Off. It’s been used since 2003. It was designed to prevent a tragedy from someone falling asleep in their garage. For 2020 , they added a chime to the smart key to try to alert the driver that it will turn off. I only know this because Google sends you to the Toyota Newsroom page when you look it up. Something must have happened in the past for Toyota to include this. I remember reading that the exhaust from the hybrid on the original Prius was so low in carbon monoxide, that nothing would happen to you if you left it running in an enclosed space. I would not want to test it out.
@@nathanielross8232 Why doesn't every Toyota (or other manufacturers) have this feature then? It's very easy to shut off a modern vehicle even if it's not a hybrid.
“Nothing about this car will thrill you or make you happy”, as he gushes about the sunroof for 3 minutes haha
I love when “normal cars” get reviewed. The exotics are cool of course but this is real world vehicles. More of these vids Doug.

I bought this vehicle had it for a week now. Getting about 45MPG right now. Love it, comfortable, has a lot of tech, and safety features. Seems to have to get up but I am not pushing it yet since it is still breaking it in right now. From reviews, the Drive mode helps out if you need some kick. I am 45, not an empty nester or baby boomer. I wanted something not large, but not small, and an SUV. Hate the CRV for long trips for my commute. Love this.

@@ixcutamp8059 not sure if thats true anymore will all the "tech" in that car 15:33 impossible for maintenance
420apache657 So just because a car is more technologically advanced it’s automatically less reliable? That’s horrible logic, the same could’ve been said for abs brakes, direct injection, AC, and all wheel drive. Hope I proved my point because I’m sure in the 60’s there were skeptics just like you whining and bitching about anything and everything new and innovative.
I feel like this car is cooler and nicer than Doug was giving it credit for. I’ve never driven one and I’m not a car enthusiast at all just a fan but jeez it seemed like he was pretty hard on this thing. It’s pretty damn big and roomy and gets 40mpg? All wheel drive. And the infotainment system seems great. It’s a Toyota so you know it’s gonna be reliable and have a good warranty etc. I have a BMW X1 that I’m getting ready to trade in and I’m gonna go drive one of these now that I know they’re out there. I don’t need something fast and exciting. With the seats down you get a ton of room, it’s comfortable, cool glass roof. If you can lease one of these and pay a little less than buying one then why not? I would imagine these are gonna be popular. I think they’re way better looking exterior style and feature wise than a lot of crossovers.
Youve probably chosen another vehicle by now, but If you're looking to save money over BMWs and you'd like something cute, unexciting, and reliable, this may be for you.
Since saving money is a priority and size is of interest to you, check out the RAV-4 as well. It's actually got MORE cargo space and a lower starting price....
@@jbmoore4436 I actually ended up getting something that wasn’t even on my radar. There’s a new car shortage throughout the US which is apparently well known but I didn’t realize until I started looking for cars and the dealers I went to had literally like 5 cars on the whole lot. Anyway, I drove a bunch of different cars and fell in love with a new Subaru Impreza hatchback. I got a good deal on a low mileage lease (I work from home now because of Covid and don’t drive nearly as much as I used to). It’s one trim down from the top (top of the line had leather interior and a few minor things that didn’t seem to be worth the extra money). My trim comes with the upgraded sound system, heated seats, sun roof etc. it’s not huge obviously but since it’s a hatchback I can put the seats down and have plenty of room. I’m 6’1” and usually cramped in small cars but this has a ton of head and leg room. It drives so comfortably and it’s AWD which is nice because we get nasty weather in the winter. I’ve had it about 4 months and love it so far. I certainly did not see myself becoming a Subaru person but I definitely understand now why they’re so popular. I don’t think I’ll ever go back to “luxury” cars. I had a few beemers and of course they were nice but pretty much all new cars come with everything you need nowadays.
@@steelyd2 I've always been a fan of Subaru. They always seem to have a 5 star crash rating and the AWD is always a huge draw (great for the weather around here aswell) some people have to get use to the sound of the boxer engine, but I think it's sounds good. Congrats on the new car. I'm glad to hear about the leg room. I'm 6' aswell and it's important; especially on a long ride.
With the Pandemic, it's a wonder you found anything you really liked that wasn't beaten to death or way over priced. Congrats again.
@@jbmoore4436 yeah I really like it. No complaints so far. It’s extremely comfortable and it’s a good looking car style wise as well. You’ll have to excuse my ignorance because im not a car guy at all but what is the boxer engine? I don’t notice that it sounds any different from a normal car.
@@steelyd2 There's so many things I don't know, but I do know it shows character to actually ask when I don't know. It's a good question. So, not to bore you, I'll try to make the answer brief. The cylinders in most engines move up and down or at an angle to each other ( V6- the pistons angle to the shaft almost like a V). In a boxer engine the piston are horzontal (flat - parallel to the ground); with Two pistons moving in as two move out from the crankshaft. I think it gets its name from looking at the engine from the top (If you could actually see the engine operating in while the block is open); it would look like two people boxing. It's also called a flat 4 or a horizontally opposed 4 cylinders engine. The boxer engine seems to lack the need for counterbalance, so it's been said that it is smoother and a bit more durable than other engine types. The boxer engine has been known to have a unique sound. It sounds a bit like a first generation VW beetle ( Obviously technology has evolved since the old VW engine was created). Times have definitely changed, but the Subaru boxer engine still has a unique sound. It's a great engine.
Ps, It's probably a bit harder to distinguish the different sounding engine from inside the vehicle while you're driving.

JUST PURCHASED 2021 Venza Ltd and I LOVE it!!! Learning how to drive it efficiently, I have been getting over 60mpg!!!!! And driving on Sport mode on freeway and city! That's! over a 1000 miles on a tank of gas!! This car is Great. It's fun to drive and has no blind spots. The air and volume controls mentioned in video do NOT have to be punched over and over, you just keep button pressed down and it very quickly adjusts temperature or volume. Also the little tray in console is not to hold drinks... thats to store the cup holder accessories. If you have a short cup, you would insert round piece into cup holder so that it is easier to lift in and out. The new sound system in this car is very nice also.. very crisp and clear. And compared to toyota's other cars, it is very quiet inside. The new Venza is really nice.
I’m red-green color blind and I literally couldn’t tell that the colors for the heated and cooled seats were changing from orange to green they both looked like the same color to me.
Red green colorblind too, could only tell by the lesser refraction of the green light against the black plastic. So annoying
It's actually so silly, I am red green colour deficient and an Ophthalmologist. I am sick an tired of manufacturer's doing this even outside the car industry. In this case, it almost feels like Toyota went out of their way to be annoying.

Doug calling the Highlander a “Mid size” is the most American thing I’ve ever heard

The center console, with those cup holder disks, are in their holding spot. You use the disks in the actual cup holders to raise the height of shorter cups. It will help so you can actually grip it instead to having to grasp it by the top/ lid area.

Doug is complaining about the interior in a Toyota when I could say that it matches up to about the level I see every day in my Lexus and Audi.
I’m talking about materials and build quality you numbskull. The materials in this car literally match up to some luxury cars in the market right now. But idiots like you who are badge elitists want to make fun of Lexus/Toyota because “tHey haVe sHitTy iNfoTaiNmEnt” when you damn well know those cars will outlast every last one of their European rivals.
Ewwww, don't agree. The interior resembles my RAV wayyyy more than my wife's Lexus in terms of appearance and quality.
Bobby Woods I have a 2017 RX and I would say this interior is quite sleek for a Toyota. Does it look identical to a Lexus interior? No. It’s not supposed to. But for a Toyota this is quite upscale and that’s the point I’m trying to get across. You want expensive materials? Pay for them. Don’t expect luxury car quality in a Toyota and then complain when you don’t get it.
This car interior isn’t impressive I love Toyota and I’ve bought one as they don’t breakdown and when they do they are easy to fix. The Benz e350 2007 beats this car in interior design and engine performance. I love the styling of the Venza it’s very popular here in Nigeria

What's more distracting than the big 12.3-inch screen?
As a color blind dude, the orange and green lights look identical. Red lights are often used to preserve night vision while providing illumination, but blue lights do have a detrimental affect. I'd rather have a low-intensity blue light then a green one I can't distinguish from orange.
My car has pretty much blue&red everything and it is no problem, frankly. Today, most VW/Audi and Ford are blue, red & white. Orange and green are just old Toyota dashboard colors, so they likely just used the bits and pieces they still have a tons laying around.
But Doug does not seem to know, that you can tap and hold those climate controls, no need to tap 20 times.
gallonoffuel same, I’m red-green color blind and both the orange and green looked indistinguishable to me. I believe him that they were changing from orange to green but they both looked like the exact same color to me.
gallonoffuel Exactly, I thought that red light caused less eye strain compared to most colors. I also would imagine that you wouldn’t have the cooled seats on during the night in most places very often since it gets cooler outside when it gets dark anyways.

“I know some biddies in Cali, they all be calling me daddy”
5:56: Japan has a slightly different cultural perception of which colors constitute which colors. Some Japanese paintings and even stoplights use a blue-ish green rather than the particular green we might use in America. Green and Blue are next to each other on the color scale, and in their culture, the two colors can be used interchangeably sometimes. In many east Asian countries for instance, pink is more like a pastel red, while in America, we wouldn't do that. In Russia, light blue and regular blue are given different names, and treated differently. At the top of my head, I'm not aware of how orange and red works in Japan, but I wouldn't be surprised if a similar situation is happening with those two colors. It's really more of a case of Toyota not localizing that color scheme before releasing it in the U.S.

Plz study more before you make the video presentations, go check what this cupholder plate is for.
"It's Toyota's seventh SUV or crossover, if you include the CH-R."
Trust me Doug, we don't 😂
This is super confusing to me: Why do I have TWO amazingly attractive girlfriends even though I am the unprettiest CZcamsr EVER? Good night dear david
The C-HR is a Crossover SUV directly rivaling the HR-V. Why not?
@@thecriticalthinkeroutsidet4947 cause it aint AWD
@@Alecks418 Just because it lacks AWD doesn't mean it is not exactly a Crossover SUV. Especially when it does have the option overseas.
It still is a sport utility vehicle on a unibody platform.
DeeBeez Nissan Kicks doesn’t have AWD either, but I agree w u they shouldn’t be called SUV’s without AWD.
Doug: before I get started...

but you miss the teasers of what cars are coming up in reviews
@@mychemicalbromance97 Personally, I don't care, he's going to upload the videos of those cars to the channel here anyway and I'm going to watch them at that time.
I'm coming from a 2012 Rav4 Sport 4 cyl to a 2021 Venza XLE. Bought it in Feb 2024 at 20 000km. Now in July 2024 at 31 000km. It's the best car I've ever had!!!
Doug, this car is very cool inside and out. You're just not into normal car anymore.
The noise he hears that sounds like a window is down is the cooling fan (located the second row) for the battery pack It occasionally comes on and you may notice it but most of the time you don't once you know what it is.
I first heard it when I was on holidays. It was a very hot week and I would leave my car under direct sunlight for hours on end and then the fans would turn on for a while until I got up to speed. The fact that you can hear the fan shows how quiet these cars are.
Only doug will give us a supercar on Tuesday a tiny crossover on Wednesday and a slightly larger crossover on Thursday
You mean a building on wheels on Thursday
Amazing, that the Toyota was able to make such a slick design on their Toyota lineup, versus the usual cars. The practicality aspects, the styling aspect versus the more boxy look of RAV4 is truly and all without the fuel savings penalty is amazing as well.
No fuel penalty on vehicle astetics... I guess it's cute and it's got a hybrid engine.. who needs excitement...
As a first generation Venza owner, this product is an underwhelming replacement, but for some, a prettier, more expensive RAV-4, with less cargo space, is fine. For others, it's disappointing for sure. I might actually have to take a look at a Murrano...I can't believe I just said that....
Doug: "These are the shallowest cup holders" W123 Mercedes glove box cup holders: "you sure about that"
In Europe W123 has no cup holders
@@edwardvalivonis23 same for america but if you look in the glove box there is a cup holder tray that is unbelievably small its not meant for while your driving its just always a funny thing to point out for people who dont know its there

A lot of more expensive car brands have that "cheap plastic" ie. Audi A3, Mercedes A Class, BMW X1
Those are all base models, also, Toyota’s plastic is far cheaper
Ummm. Thoes are basic poo poo models. Midsize and full size are the real deal. Unless of course it's an m3, s3 etc....
Don't matter what car it is, plastic is always bad
@@samlung2724 I mean if you're comparing cars at that price point to an affordable midsize SUV, that's a whole other problem
Those “cup holders” in the center console storage is for the pucks you can interchange for the actual cup holders to make them normal sized or deeper
it's like we still don't have enough TOYOTA SUVs
Well, people keep buying them. No point in having less choice when SUVs and crossovers are driving themselves off the lot.

I noticed at the end of your video you mentioned you were selling trains on Cars & Bids while featuring a Siemens Charger, I would like to inquire about that since it isn’t listed on your site. I am genuinely interested.
Email him or take contact to Cars&Bids
Thank you guys, wish me luck! Wait, what’s his email?
Doug: „If you’re looking for ...“
Me: „I’d look for dials and proper rear turn signals“ other than that nice car 👍🏻
Yep. I like dials, lights that work, and engines I can at least change the fluids in without a Ph.D.
So, yeaaah... Hard pass.
I actually like the volume button design, it tells the passenger not to mess with my freaking volume lol
"Usually I don't go off the rails so early in a video..." Uh, yeah you do, Doug! :D
There's a different type of fun of driving a hybrid, and learning it's quirks as you try to maximize fuel efficiency.
Exactly. I absolutely love my Yaris hybrid. It's very easy to drive and helps me focus on the road on those tedious commutes and school runs. It's also very reliable, very comfortable and very, very economical.
@@theodorev666 I didn't know they offered the Yaris as a Hybrid? What kinda mileage can you get with that?
I've got a 2001 Honda Insight that I've been able to get 2.8l/100km out of (or roughly 84mpg)
@@negil Wow! Is that 2.8 on average??? I live in Athens, Greece and the Yaris hybrid is everywhere. I usually average between 4 and 5 lt/100 km depending on where I've been. The best figure I got for a round trip to the countryside and back is 3.2 lt/100 km.
@@theodorev666 Yeah 2.8 on average, but that was during a time with a lot of driving between towns, when I'm just driving in town, I average around 3.2l/100km.
Yep....thats a different type of fun alright...nothing like maximizing fuel efficiency. All of a sudden, I see that old Prius at my job in a whole new light...
Anyway, this SUV should be called a RAV-4.5...
The first generation Venza was definitely a, "different type of fun" than you get in a hybrid RAV-4 or a Prius.
In Asian countries we call the "Toyota Venza" as the "Toyota Harrier". Both of them have the same Exterior, interior, technology and the same engine. At the end of the day they are the same same vehicle, but with different name!
I hate the disconnected from taillight rear turn signals on the bumper. It was actually a big purchasing decision for me especially since cars are getting taller and taller and it becomes less convenient to see them. I think these turn signals will cause more accidents
This ... is the quickest I have ever clicked on a video
Why
For a toyota venza? Not the F50?
That “A” on the Venza is actually the same font as the “A” on the Camry😂
Harriers are super popular in Japan. I wonder if the Venza will sell well in the US. They seem like a good choice of family vehicle.
I haven’t seen too many out here, at least in Chicago. Doesn’t seem to have the best market appeal
@@Fifthcell I think in Japan they're kinda seen as the more affordable RX. They're seperate models now but historically they were basically the same car. I see them everywhere here
For how many times he pointed out that this "isn't a fun vehicle" and basically shat on it, plus did such a short review, I was surprised at his daily score for this. I thought he hated it.
The "A" in Venza is the exact same font that was used in the Pontiac Aztek! Oh dear.....
venzaztek!
“... an “A” made from a triangle in Venzaaaaa.” Has anyone made so much of so little?
