  • Goats are Browsers or foragers by nature. They like to eat with their head up and move around the field. They typically love broad leaf plants including weeds. They can and will eat grass but that is not their first choice. When they are in tall grass they love to eat the seed off the top of a stem. This is different from cows and sheep that are grazers and will eat grass all the way to the ground. Goats contrary to popular belief do not eat everything and anything. They eat only plant sources. The belief that they eat anything comes from the fact that they explore and sense things through their mouth. They will put a lot of things in their mouth they do not intend to eat. Goats are a ruminant. They eat leaves regurgitate it and eat it again to get it completely digested. A goat has four stomachs.
