    Please do something to the horns on the goat, if you can. How would you feel if you had a growth that bothers you?

    Yes!! Dad uses them to clear land for planting grapes. The dont like milk weed but the do strip the bark from even the big trees. We have a bigger trip, though, but they eventually get the big ones too. We do cut the big ones they kill for fire wood.....its all good.

    Hello .
    goats love to climb on and over things and this can also keep them busy.
    with a few simple free pallets you can make a climbing / play device for them very cheaply and well.
    if there are really trees you want to protect against the goats you can also put a basket around them of the same mesh as their fence.
    with kind regards Hollandduck from the Netherlands

    You are exactly right. I saw Merle, one of our big boys, climb a small pine then bend it over while Willie came over and grabbed the fresh pine needles and help the tree down. They happily ate the pine, needles. bark and all.

    His horns are bothering him a lot PL. cut them off. I know you don't agree with de horning but his are all ready messed up and clearly causing him discomfort. At 1240 you can see him trying to scratch an itch that will not stop. Is cruel to let him go like this.

    Have you thought about trimming Adam's horns so they don't bother him so much? If you put a pole barn behind the house won't it ruin your view out of your back windows?

  • @largefamilyruralliving7434

    Our large goats stripped stripes of bark off a whole acre of trees and 5-7 years later a lot have died. This year we made our new smaller goats a winter tree-free area till spring. We take the wasted goat hay and give to our chickens for greens and it helps make the yolks yellow and busy activity. Your goats seem happy in there. Wooded acres are so hard to grow crops nearby, but great for the animals you have planned.

    Hi. If you have any fence wire left, consider making a small circle n pile the hay in that. You might have to attach it to a tree so they can't turn it over n roll it about. Peace to you and yours

    We are trying to get new property, and would like to get goats, plenty of junk for them to eat over there.

  • @Acaidia
    @Acaidia Před rokem

    After having our goats for around 3-4 years they successfully killed the three fairly established trees in their pen. When we got the goats I assumed that the trees were large enough to survive the goats nibbling and rubbing but I was wrong. I severely underestimated just how much the goats would love the trees to death. They probably would have been fine if there were a dozen or so more trees but with just the 3 they simply stood no chance. It sucks because 2 of the trees were Crepe Myrtles we planted over 15 years ago and they were very pretty (and expensive lol). Also there won't be as much shade for the animals to escape the hot sun in the summer. Our land is entirely fenced in right to the property lines and the pen is in a corner of the yard so there's no way to plant trees on the other side of the fence where they couldn't be touched by the goats as the other side of the fence isn't our property. As for planting new trees I'm definitely going to install some sort of fence/barrier around them for protection. I just wish there was a specific type of tree that goats took zero interest in.

    So..when you had the goats behind you with Adam going nuts on the trees I noticed the roof like of the furthest back 'wing'...the one with the large brick chimney. Does that roof also slope down from left to right, along the ridge line, or was that an optical illusion? And...it does look like Adam would be happier without those horns...

  • @TheUserid82
    @TheUserid82 Před 3 lety +1

    If you really want to clear some trees the answer is pigs when mixed with mushrooms. Search for growing mushrooms (tree type) to get the right type of inoculation pegs and simply drill and peg the still standing tree for the pigs to start ripping the trees apart to get the fungi as it grows. Avoid doing to trees near the fence as you have next to no control on the direction the tree will fall and avoid larger trees as they can injure the pigs when they come down.
    Inoculating the trees will help to break down the stumps faster on their own and will break them down insanely fast when mixed with pigs

    Goats will eat heavy brush and undercover and will give their range a parklike appearance. They are very fond of smilax briars and poison ivy. They will manicure the larger trees as high as they can stand on their hind legs. You can minimize their impact by keeping their population down or by supplementing the food with tree trimmings brought in from other areas and hay.

Can you share your experience with predators/concerns at your new home? What do you do to protect the goats? Thank you! You guys are awesome. ❤️

  • @bridgetmorford7243

    The goat with the biggest horn growth could actually be in pain. Your lack of empathy for your animals is appalling to me. His horns look to be heading straight for his neck on the one side. And the other side is affecting his ear. This is truly on the verge of animal abuse. The worst part is it seems funny to you. I truly hope if you ever need care your caregiver has more compassion for you.

      Your family makes a point to watch our videos, and then comment the meanest things, why? We absolutely love our animals and are doing everything we can to take care of him. His horns are not touching his head, but we are watching them and will remove them. He gets very excited when we are in the pasture with him, and does not act this way all the time. We’ve asked your family this many times before, please be kind. We welcome your comments even when they disapprove of things we do, we are all here to learn from one another, but please be uplifting and nice.
