  • So, we were unable to get the old girl started last week. But it's now a new week, so lets try this again. Got an early start to the day, Breakfast and coffee in our bellies, some needed parts, and most of all a better plan. Can we get this old Ford 801 Powermaster started after sitting over 20 years this time? Well your going to have to watch and see for yourself. Part 2 is here, so lets dive right in and get our hands dirty (and covered in gas!), and try to get an old workhorse brought back to life. Thanks to all of you for your support, and I'm really glad you stopped back by to see what we were up to today. And for all you newcomers, WELCOME and I'm glad your here. As we all know its time to put your feet up, find your favorite drink, and dive into another episode of the Crafty Crow Show.

    Some of my fondest memories was riding with my Dad as he plowed or planted on his brothers tractor...first moving vehicle I ever drove!! It is not JUST a JOB its an adventure!! The RESTORIAN strikes again!! ...hands of a working man!!

      I have still never drove a tractor, but hopefully I will get to drive this one soon. More parts on the way, more fun to have. Glad it triggered that memory for you. I always enjoy your stories bud

    Where is the other videos on the power master? I have a 39 ford 9n tractor that I’ve been fixing up and a tip electronic ignition and rebuild carburetor quit worrying about the Chinese points they don’t last. Looking forward to hearing that ford puur

      Unfortunately both me and my son in law haven’t been able to get our schedules lined up to go back and try again after this video was made. Hopefully one day we can get things lined out and get back out there to it. It’s over an hour drive for both of us to get to the farm

    That might have been 2 stroke gas in the tank. Someone might have been trying to get it going before yall did especially since the distributor cap was off in the first video. Some people use a little 2 stroke gas on the first start of an old engine that has sit just to add a little extra lube to the top of cylinders since they ain't moved in years. Love that tractor though I got a 55 600 and an 801 like that one only its diesel.

    After seeing how the fuel system was so gunked up, it makes me happy that my old Ford is powered off 'sweet lady propane' as Hank Hill might say.

      @TheCraftyCrowShow  Před 2 lety

      Lol, it sure does. We have ordered a complete rebuild for the distributor, new wires, and new plugs. But I guarantee we are going to have to pull that carb in the next video and clean it out. As bad as that fuel system was, I’d say it worked it’s way in there too. Just hope we can find gaskets for it.

    I’ve enjoyed your videos in getting the tractor to start. We use to have a Ford 620 and an 840. When will you get back to continue working on it? I’m too invested with your adventure now. I’ve got to see it run.. LOL…😂

      I’m starting to think it may never get started…lol. This was a project my son-in-law wanted to get going, then he had a job change and works a lot now. We have been having trouble trying to get our schedules aligned to get back over there, as the tractor is an hour drive for each of us. Hopefully we can get the time and get that thing started though. I want to see it as bad as you do

    Great video looking forward to seeing this ol girl run. Did you confirm your having spark? I'd so you can literally take the carb off and spray carb cleaner in while cranking it should pop off then. This will eliminate fuel delivery issues. If it does start from there you can go backwards. Through the carb fix/ rebuild replace the fairly simple carb. ( looking how gummed up the fuel was in sure the carb id's just as clogged) if it doesn't fire up recheck spark then onto compression....stuck valve??? Stuck rings????

      We still haven’t been back to work on this thing any more. I figured that the carb was gunked up too, but he said he already removed it and cleaned it. I know the points and condenser needed replaced though. We have both been so busy though we haven’t been able to get back down there to give it another try. Hopefully soon though hate leaving you all hanging on it

      I was giving my best guess on the year, so thanks for the correction. Do you know about what year it is? And yes, a ways to go and the cold weather and schedule conflicts have halted the repair for now. But I’m sure we can get it going and have an old family tractor get back to work eventually. Thanks for watching, and feel free to comment anytime to help us along

    • @TheCraftyCrowShow
      @TheCraftyCrowShow  Před 2 lety +2

      Not yet. It got cold on us and we decided to hit it again as soon as the weather started getting better. I believe we will have to pull and clean the carb before we get it running. Judging by the fuel line condition anyway

    Guys, I don't see how you could possibly get ANYTHING to run. You never once pulled the choke out, you didn't crack the throttle, you should have checked to ensure you had spark to the plugs, you should have taken the top off of the carb to clean it out, maybe you should leave the old stuff to us old guys. To make you feel better though, it was quite entertaining......

    • @TheCraftyCrowShow
      @TheCraftyCrowShow  Před rokem +1

      Honestly I can’t argue with you at all….lol. He did say he had already taken the carb off and cleaned it before we decided to shoot the videos on it. I did test to see if there was spark on the plugs, but didn’t get that filmed. Also wanted to try some ether after we changed the points, but he had just lost one of their small barns to a fire a few months before and was a little scared to try it in that barn. We are definitely not the guys to come work on your tractor for sure….lol. But we had a good time just seeing how the old girl was put together. And I’m glad you at least got entertained watching

    Was you sure the plug wires from the engine to the distributer is in the correct firing order?

    • @TheCraftyCrowShow
      @TheCraftyCrowShow  Před 2 lety +1

      I honestly did not check, but I will. We have ordered a complete kit to do points, condenser, cap, button, plugs, and wires. So hopefully the next video will show a complete overhaul of that. Then it will be time to check the carb 😳

    • @jeffjackson5331
      @jeffjackson5331 Před 2 lety +1

      @@TheCraftyCrowShow that instant fouling could be from not firing right due to two wires being in the wrong spots. That could also explain why it's having a hard time starting. If memory serves. It's been decades since i work on old engines(as a hobby lol)

    • @TheCraftyCrowShow
      @TheCraftyCrowShow  Před 2 lety +1
