Outstanding job, young man. I don't know if someone showed you this or you figured it out for yourself, regardless, it gives me hope for the younger generations (Because, you know, Tide pods and stuff). Congratulations on a job well done. Depending on how hard it is to remove the Pitman arm later, I may not be *as* impressed, LOL.
Thank you one extra tip for all those guys doing it that last seal comes out if you just start the truck for a second
Start it exactly when?
Good job, lots of tips, good editing, nice and loud on the audio. Thank you.
Wow.. i have to commend you on the AMAZING VISUALS HERE. I've never done ANYTHING with ANY power steering b4. So I didn't even have any idea what I was working with. This was what I needed. 9nly way it could have been any better.... (which I've said to almost every mechanics video) is if a "SIMPLE" SCHEMATIC was drawn showing how the part sits in the truck & where you want to go in when you attack the job.
Thank You! 👍💯
I was concerned about the ball bearings falling out because I wanted to do this without removing the unit from the truck. thanks for showing me that this would not happen.
Man this just saved me like 4 hours 👍
Thanks brother!
I was going to swap the whole unit but will definitely be doing this instead! Especially because I have to replace my idler arm (already bought it just been putting off doing it!) which is causing truck to squirrel around on the interstate.
Thank you for taking the time to post this.
Have a blessed day sir!
How did you get the pitman arm off in such a tight space since a pitman arm puller doesn’t fit? How did you get it back on?
2:04 he says he used a hammer and just hammered it down. I hope it’s as easy as it sounds.
Edit: It was not :( . But I did figure out a few tricks. Getting the pitman arm off you have two options. 1: Loosen the gearbox enough for the pitman arm tool to clear the lower control arm mount. 2: Cut a small notch out of the control arm mount (about the size of a coin) and the pitman arm tool should fit. I did the 2nd option.
@@GammaZed.Wasnt as easy for me either 😂
last seal is backwards, but a good and helpful video
Pretty sure it's right.... the inside seal faces in to keep fluid in. Outside faces out to keep dirt and water etc out.
The last seal is definitely backwards. But it should still hold up for a little while.
@joshyoden. I cant get the pitman arm off. Iam in the middle if this. I need some help from someone. Thanks....
Gracias. Muy útil esta información. Lo intentaré. 😊
Nice vid, but from what Ive seen others do, you installed the last seal, or dust protector the wrong way, ive always seen it installed groove facing sector shaft.
Where did you by this seal kit? Model #? url? thanks.
Very helpful thank you for posting this
Thanks for sharing 👍
Awesome video! Thanks!
Great job!!!👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Thank you!!
Hi I want a link to buy the part
thats amazing
I just did this and it still leaks when I turn the steering wheel and max it out to either side
It sounds like the bearings are bad inside your steering box ,so when you max it out to one side the shaft can move to one side breaking the seal.
Also make sure the seal is installed properly.
Good vid. Cool beans.
Thanks for the tips.
Thanks for the video sir
great stuff
Been looking for a video showing me how to remove a seal like you are done while in the car on a 1961 Ford Thunderbird, and wondering if the procedure would be the same? Thanks for your input.
Very good!
one seal is in backwards
What’s with all the fake comments?
Questions, I heard that you have to mark before you removed it, so the steering wheel is not sideways or its only when you change the gear box?
thats only important if your changing the gearbox
wow super
Great job!
Ty gotta do this
So what is this kit for? It wasn’t for the pump but for the??? Mine I think is leaking same area on my 98
It's for the steering gear box
Can you please move to Minnesota
super nice
hmm ok I liked it
Will this also apply for an 04 chevy avalanche?
good job
good stuff
The nut on the pitman arm, on the box side is a 36mm right?!? Can’t find a damn wrench big enough.
I believe it is 1 5/16 nut size.
You can use a big adjustable wrench, or rent a socket set from a local auto parts store.
Last resort you can accurately measure the nut width with a tape measure and then buy a socket that has the same inside measurement.
Measure socket with tape measure at store.
When you are done with it you could probably return it.
@@Joshyodenn a 34mm ended up working out. I try to avoid breaking stuff loose with an adjustable wrench if I can. Lol this damn thing was getting on my nerves so I appreciate the video and replying to my comment.
@@EphiliatesUSMC1775 Awesome to hear! Thanks for the info also!
And yes an adjustable wrench is not the best aption.
Do you have room to fit a socket and a breakers bar? On my 2004 Chevy Silverado 2500hd the nut is right above the a crossmember.
keep going
That is nice

For Republicans if come from the other side is always wrong.
USA can not afford to give Israel every thing they want while they are a lot of Americans south of the border needing help.
What does that have to do with changing seals.......
