    Outstanding job, young man. I don't know if someone showed you this or you figured it out for yourself, regardless, it gives me hope for the younger generations (Because, you know, Tide pods and stuff). Congratulations on a job well done. Depending on how hard it is to remove the Pitman arm later, I may not be *as* impressed, LOL.

    Wow.. i have to commend you on the AMAZING VISUALS HERE. I've never done ANYTHING with ANY power steering b4. So I didn't even have any idea what I was working with. This was what I needed. 9nly way it could have been any better.... (which I've said to almost every mechanics video) is if a "SIMPLE" SCHEMATIC was drawn showing how the part sits in the truck & where you want to go in when you attack the job.
    Thank You! 👍💯

    I was concerned about the ball bearings falling out because I wanted to do this without removing the unit from the truck. thanks for showing me that this would not happen.

    I was going to swap the whole unit but will definitely be doing this instead! Especially because I have to replace my idler arm (already bought it just been putting off doing it!) which is causing truck to squirrel around on the interstate.
    Thank you for taking the time to post this.
    Have a blessed day sir!

    How did you get the pitman arm off in such a tight space since a pitman arm puller doesn’t fit? How did you get it back on?

    • @GammaZed.
      @GammaZed. Před 5 měsíci +2

      2:04 he says he used a hammer and just hammered it down. I hope it’s as easy as it sounds.
      Edit: It was not :( . But I did figure out a few tricks. Getting the pitman arm off you have two options. 1: Loosen the gearbox enough for the pitman arm tool to clear the lower control arm mount. 2: Cut a small notch out of the control arm mount (about the size of a coin) and the pitman arm tool should fit. I did the 2nd option.

      Pretty sure it's right.... the inside seal faces in to keep fluid in. Outside faces out to keep dirt and water etc out.

    I just did this and it still leaks when I turn the steering wheel and max it out to either side

    • @Joshyodenn
      @Joshyodenn  Před 2 lety +3

      It sounds like the bearings are bad inside your steering box ,so when you max it out to one side the shaft can move to one side breaking the seal.
      Also make sure the seal is installed properly.

    The nut on the pitman arm, on the box side is a 36mm right?!? Can’t find a damn wrench big enough.

    • @Joshyodenn
      @Joshyodenn  Před 3 lety +4

      I believe it is 1 5/16 nut size.
      You can use a big adjustable wrench, or rent a socket set from a local auto parts store.
      Last resort you can accurately measure the nut width with a tape measure and then buy a socket that has the same inside measurement.
      Measure socket with tape measure at store.
      When you are done with it you could probably return it.
