- It's more than 7 years since I last visited Glencoe. I compare my new images to this last visit to see how I have evolved as a photographer. PLUS, a little competition...!

We have a winner! No multiple exposure, no Photoshop trickery (I think you all overestimate me! 😆). No, it was much easier. The third horse head was a scale model statue they have in front of the visitors centre. Some very interesting answers though and thanks to everyone who made a guess!
Perhaps I lack imagination, but I don't see how you worked that out with the three horse heads. Perhaps it's because I've never been there.
That boat lift for the canal is a clever bit of engineering, the way they counter balanced that, and the displacement of the boat drains enough water out that they are always closely balanced.
There must have been some insider information there. I'm not sure that I would have ever come up with that answer without knowing the area.
Thank you for sharing. I definitely notice that my style has changed over the years. Whereas earlier I was more tempted to produce photos "to taste", these days I am more into pictures that reproduce my current understanding / mood / reflection, and while they certainly lack a "mass appeal" and are not as spectacular, I feel more at home with them, more at ease. I like to come back to places I visited before - not only because the places and conditions may have changed compared to the visits before, but also my point of view.
Really enjoyed this one. My style has definitely changed over the years, going for the more natural look and, as you say ‘getting it right in-camera’ but my compositions.
Possibly not to such as good effect as I want, but I’m enjoying the journey.

We need to start a group just to discuss the vinyl record covers Craig displays in his background. I have a feeling there's another side to him that could be explored.

This was a bit different. Interesting comments and reflections on your practice as a photographer. It made me wonder, if I looked back through my own amateur photos, what I would see. What I have noticed is that I think a bit more about what I’m trying to achieve before I take the photo rather than wondering later what I thought I was trying to achieve. Thanks for sharing.

Tremendously interesting Craig. I'm aware my own photography has changed significantly over the years but I've never considered such a direct comparison. Great food for thought. Now, I'd love an e6 subscription but have no idea how you caught three horse heads in the one photo... double exposure? Smoke and mirrors? However you did it, thanks for another top video. Interesting and makes a good point regarding hot spots. I will only ever remember the Cottage as belonging to Hamish, a great man, an amazing Mountaineer and a legend with the MRT.

I can see what you mean about your changing style. However, IMO the older shots are not necessarily inferior to the more recent. For instance, in your first example, the presence of a rainbow (a completely unpredictable occurrence) guarantees a different shot. Likewise the shipwreck, where the water level dictates and restricts POV. The only shot I think is a huge improvement on the earlier one is of Glencoe Lochan. 2014 - a snap. 2023 - a masterful composition. That's my two bob's worth, any road.
PS - Never realised your wife was such a hottie!

Not 100 percent certain but maybe you used this new fangled A i ? TBH I really don't like fake photos always prefer to capture natural images and feel like that is usually what you also prefer to do ? Good video showing your change in style . I think it is always possible to capture unique images of popular places , I am always guided by the light on the day and capture what looks interesting in that moment. I do not just capture a scene because others have taken it . That alternative image you captured at the lochan I captured a very similar one several years ago but it was in the spring not autumn : ) Thanks for sharing always enjoy your videos Teddy
Thank you for these videos. They make me look into how I myself change over the years. Especially how I shoot with my Lubitel-166 - that's how I've found your channel, via your video about it.
Many years before, I did everything to exclude foreground to my photos. Since I changed for more foreground and depth, my photos changed dramatically for the better.
got closer to the one on the right and shot it alone to photoshop in as one closer on the left side.
The only downside to your videos is that they are too short😊 loved it as usual!

I craig, was the third horse done in post processing. Great idea having a video as well as a photo of the Steam Train. Loved Glencoe Lochan with that smooth water. Great Metallica Album. Thanks for sharing this video. 😃
only the left one is the real-life sculpture, the other two are the maquettes in front of the cafe/visitor centre

You are mastering composition like very few others but in a unique style. The development towards more consideration, more purpose behind the image“ is a great lesson. Looking forward to 2030 👍

Fantastic video, probably one of your best. I think everyone’s photography changes over time. I’ve tried most types of photography, and at the ripe old age of 66 I’m more into more observational type of shots. Whether it’s urban or country side. Much more relaxed, and it means I don’t have to carry to much equipment. Are the three horses a composite?
There are little sculpute models of the Kelpies. I think you used these and positioned yourself at the right angle to make it look like there are 3 large sculptures.

I'm guessing that you visited on a day when there happened to be a very, very tall person riding around the park on a super-sized horse. Either that or you've had fun playing around using perspective to create an optical illusion with a smaller model?!

Nice! Very! Finally people seem to understand that photographing rocks as "foreground" and reducing gorgeous mountains to molehills in the background is not such a great idea?

You would have to crank the saturation up to the max setting and paste in some AI generated sunset to make it into a calendar in 2023. I went to buy one for 2024 the other day and the photos were so fake it was disgusting. I passed. Probably just print out blank calendar pages in Office...
If it wasn't an obvious photoshop, double exposure then somehow? Panorama in iPhone doesn't work going to the left.. I'm intrigued.
