I've used the old Beam type, click types and digital. I favour the digital one I must admit. Beam types are great for starting out with and getting used to holding the handle correctly and feeling the torque as it's slowly applied.

There are 3 actually. A deflection beam. Never needs any calibration. And it measures rolling drag .Can be used to check the rolling resistance of any mechanical assembly. I always keep one handy. Awesome inexpensive practical tool. Happy Summer.

John, you didn't mention the fact that the torque range may vary from one wrench to another and between digital and analoque. I have a number of analoque torque wrenches covering overlapping torques. Also, try not to use the wrench at bottom or top of range.

What torque ranges do you need to rebuild a yfz? How low/high ft-lbs do you need to go?

    Hello,
How is possible to block the torque wrench at 25 Nm in order not to be changed by anybody?
    There is anything additional?

For the click type, should you get it re-calibrated or checked for calibration ever so often?

Every six months to a year or so depending on use. The point is, you don't need to be re-calibrating your wrench all the time, but you don't want to go so long that it gets out of whack.
