Many happy returns, Brit in Poland 💯I like the way you say We have cold winters here, rather than They have... Keep up the good work, well done for all the videos.

Thank you 😊 it’s a pleasure being a part of this country, every new place I explore feels like a badge of honour and I really want to be a citizen one day, I feel at home here!

@@britinpoland2392 Good to hear that, good luck. Poland's no Italy or France, few foreign visitors ever go to those little backwater parts here like Sochaczew or Tomaszów, unless their wife's family happens to live there. Still, you go and seem to like those places. really heartwarming for any Pole🙂

@@piotrzawada7502 I like to think every place has its charm, not every city can be a Krakow or Warsaw, but they all have a history and a story to tell somewhere and I have a whole lot of places I still need to get to 😊

Traditionally, as a birthday boy/birthday girl, we HAVE TO provide food and alcohol in abundance, whether the party is thrown at home or at the bar. It's not very customary for guests to pay for themselves. I know that it happens among younger people from bigger cities and I know some of the guests might want to pay for their drinks or food but normally we just bring presents and wait to be flooded with food, alcohol and entertainment. Only once in life I attended a birthday party at the bar when I was supposed to bring a present (and there was even a list to choose from) but nothing was provided. Many people badmouth those who invite but not pay. Every celebration held in Poland is at organiser's expense. It's even something that we take pride in. (And I'm not telling you off, just giving wider context to viewers) It's great that you mentioned name days, they are like the institution here, mainly for elderly people but not only. Everyobody knows when their name day is and accept name day wishes. Some throw parties, especially at work or home (they are smaller but still, there must be a cake and coffee/vodka).

I like this comment and it is what I have seen when I’ve been invited to friends flats/houses for celebrations, my first birthday celebration I paid for a lot of food/vodka for people to enjoy…and subsequently got too drunk to enjoy it myself😅
I’ll have this thought in mind when organising something next year, a smaller gathering when I can be more generous rather than a large gathering where I can’t afford to be so generous 😂

It might be worth pointing out that the song goes 'sto lat! Sto lat! Niech zyje, zyje nam...' i tak dalej. Nie is the polish word for 'no' or 'not' but niech is 'let.'

Hahaha, thank you 😅 I have never seen it written, I just emulated what I heard when others were singing 😛
