- After facing countless hardships in her life, from losing her family at an early age to raising her daughter alone, Mehak Mirza Prabhu found her calling as a storyteller at the age of thirty-three, and has never looked back since. At TEDxSomaiyaVidyavihar 2018, she recounts her tale, and how she rose to meet each challenge head-on. This is followed by a riveting storytelling performance, named “Shaan”.
Mehak Mirza Prabhu is a storyteller, writer, blogger, performer, and former entrepreneur from Maharashtra. She is also the founder of 'Jhumritalaiya', an online school dedicated towards merging classic storytelling forms with original stories that reflect recent times.
Storyteller, writer, blogger, performer and former entrepreneur Mehak Mirza Prabhu’s life is a perfect example of the saying ‘when life gives you lemons, make lemonade’. With life taking twists at the most unexpected times, she rediscovered herself through various mediums, most importantly - writing. Her online storytelling school, 'Jhumritaliaya', is dedicated towards merging classic storytelling form with original stories that reflect recent times. A social reform enthusiast, she has featured in the campaign The Bridge Talks, an initiative by Caravan Magazine that lays emphasis on gender empowerment. In addition to this, she has also collaborated with Alif’s Mohammad Muneem for a duet storytelling act on child abuse that was recently performed at IIT Bombay. Her story ‘Phir Mohobbat Karni Hai’ has gained over 3M views across various digital platforms. The way she used the chair symbolically as Zero and everytime stood up to convey her upward journey....was outstanding. It appeared so spontaneous.

you are actually my inspiration.... for the first time when i listened your poetry ...you were in hijab and potraying story of a daughter talking to her mom who is in icu ...i was melted ..i too usedto write stories and poems but from thatday i started feeling my poetry and i try giving my poetry some life...and from then whenever i say !y poetry everyone listens it which full concetration and give me loads of compliments ..even that made me more popular in whole school ..especially for me in every event of our school function a category of poem was included and i was the gem for it....no roleplay went comoplete without my poetry..speciall thanks to you mam! hope we meet sometimeon stage....
