    My dad started his residential cleaning business in 1985 period hes had the same customers ever since. He refused to open his list because he wanted to stay loyal which I think is great. Once you get a set of loyal customers and create a constant stream of income then you're set. I'm the eldest of 8. My dad raised us as a single parent and was able to take care of us and then some more. I have been with him on a couple of jobs years ago and he always goes the extra mile. He does not cut corners whatsoever at all and he always makes sure to make them feel comfortable and they become like family ! I guess it depends what kind of business model you have And if you're open to anyone anytime kind of thing or if you're looking for a more steady customer base. Either way there are tons and tons and tons of people looking for house cleaning and they are willing to pay for somebody who does a great job! Don't get discouraged you got this! Last thing, make sure to know your worth period not all house cleaners are alike. When you know that you do a dangerous job you go the extra mile, you're trustworthy you show app early you have good pricis and you're all around Offering amazing service then make sure to not cut yourself short!

      Well said - creating strong, long lasting relationships with your customers is important. We agree that once you've built out the customer list you want it's all about maintaining that. It then gives you the ability to be more selective about the new business you take on. Thanks for sharing your story. Sounds like you had an awesome father!

      @@matthew-krystinmannucci3231 that’s because if they told you the number then you would be able to either match it or charge more and they clearly want to get a lower price. This happened to me as well I told the guy what they lay the current cleaners he said I can’t say I’m like why? That’s not private info I can cal that company and get a quote.

    I'm happy your channel popped up. I haven't seen all your videos, but I'm going to binge watch them this weekend. I just recently became licensed and insured. I haven't made a free Google ad yet, as that is next. My business will be a small office cleaning business. I do have a few random questions. How many sq. ft. should 1 worker be able to clean in one hour, when its just basic cleaning? Is there a simple easy to use program for payroll, contracts, legal forms etc., just for small cleaning businesses that might stand out as better than the rest? I'm here in Southern Oregon. The closest businesses that would give me info on an hourly wage to pay my contractors were 100 to 200 miles away ( their hourly wage ranged from 35 to 50 an hour per worker }, as the local businesses considered me competition and wouldn't reveal. I haven't checked indeed yet, but I will. Thank you in advance!!

    • @OctoCleanMedia
      @OctoCleanMedia  Před rokem +3

      We're happy you found us too! One worker should be able to clean around 2,000 sq. ft. in one hour. That all depends of course on the type of account and how efficient the person is. For payroll, we've had a good experience using ADP. We've also had a good experience using HubSpot for quotes, deals, marketing, and customer support ticketing. They have free versions, but once you get into the subscriptions it can get pricey. We are filming our first podcast episode this week on bidding and prospecting. Our next episode will be on employee management and wages. We will let you know when those are live! Thanks for leaving a comment.

    • @OctoCleanMedia
      @OctoCleanMedia  Před 4 měsíci +2

      It can be for sure. One strategy around this is to make sure you have great marketing materials that their gatekeeper can pass on to them. Same goes for the bid presentation. Make sure it is branded, organized, and includes all of the basics. If you are area prospecting, the goal is to get the decision makers business card when you drop in, so you can ideally work directly with them, but that can be a challenge. Hope this helps!

  • @justhumblemeclarke7292
    @justhumblemeclarke7292 Před rokem +2

    I know how to bid my issue is now a lot of customers don't want everyday cleaning. Say a bldg is open 6 days a week and they only want service 4. Well they are still open therefore there is more trash, stocking etc but they want a reduced price. How should we approach that issue. With a lot of people working from home it makes sense for the reduction but say a dental office the reduction has to be beneficial for all parties

    • @OctoCleanMedia
      @OctoCleanMedia  Před rokem +4

      In situations like these, it is crucial for the customer to recognize that reducing the number of service days will probably require more hours to compensate for the workload. It is equally important to maintain a firm stance on pricing, as long as it remains reasonable. Many cleaners tend to underbid jobs, leading to financial losses in the long term. This practice also creates the perception that the work can be done at a low cost. In reality, businesses often seek new cleaners because the previous ones were unable to generate profits as a result of poor bidding practices.

      You'll know that your price is too low if you are barely making a profit or customers are surprised by your low price. It really isn't that important to know what your competition is charging. If you are offering great value, they will pay it. Each building is different and you want to account for all the variables and effort you will need to put in. It needs to be worth it for you and your business! But if you must know, you can ask prospects/customers what they were paying with their previous providers to get an idea for the going rates in your area.

    Minimum wage in our province is $14/hour. If I want to set a higher price, I can calculate the HOURLY RATE as $14 x 1.5, which equals $21/hour. Is that correct?

      We apply the cost of materials and wear on equipment to our hourly rate, so it is built into the price. If we are ordering paper product for a customer, then we will charge them separately for those things. Thanks for your question!

      @@audriannalewis537 Calculating a suitable hourly rate for your business requires a thorough understanding of your expenses and profit margins. Knowing your operating costs per hour is essential to determine the minimum price point at which you can achieve profitability. Therefore, it's crucial to carefully analyze your financial records and accurately estimate your expenses, including labor, materials, and overhead costs, to ensure that your hourly rate covers all necessary expenses and yields a reasonable profit margin.

    What brand of laser do you like to use?

    • @OctoCleanMedia
      @OctoCleanMedia  Před 6 měsíci

      There isn't one specific brand we recommend, however, we do recommend that you use a laser that adds your measurements for you. If you are measuring large spaces, a hack that Greg uses is a golf range finder. It goes really far, but you will need to convert the yards to feet to get a square footage.

  • @christopherjoseph3237

    I was asked price a 13,000 square-foot facility that's used for 3 car rental businesses and they want it done daily and I have no idea what number I could come up with

    • @OctoCleanMedia
      @OctoCleanMedia  Před rokem

      Do you know your production times? If you know how long it takes for you to clean a standard office plus what you charge, you can use that number and price as a guide. Take a full building inventory, count the different floor types how many restrooms and stalls. Determine how much of the space is actually cleanable. You can adjust what you normally charge to reflect these factors plus the size of the car rental to get your hourly rate. Once you have your hourly rate, you can then plug it into the formula at 06:03. Hope this helps!

    • @christopherjoseph3237
      @christopherjoseph3237 Před rokem

      @OctoClean there is 3 offices, 2 bathrooms, and a breakroom. I'm solo so initial cleaning will take about 5 hours but maintenance cleaning..I can't imagine car rental buildings needing 5 hours of daily cleaning. Note* this is a new construction. So there isnt really a way to see just how long it'll take just yet. The 5 hour time is a number I got off google stating that it takes ONE person ONE hour to clean 2000-2500 sqft.

    • @christopherjoseph3237
      @christopherjoseph3237 Před 10 měsíci

      @MayaP-jk3dy to answer your question in short.. no. youtube never has the answer you're looking for in situations like mine. How I figured it out was bidding (the amount of work I thought they wanted) for $117K/year. The winning bid was $15K. Lmao! I was waaaay off. But it turns out, regardless of any BS you come across on CZcams or the internet. a safe rule of thumb is $.80- $2.00 per sqft annually. The bigger the building, the more you charge... and basically trial & error with the frequency of cleaning.
