    Wow!!! These two things should be simple and accessible from a Service Door on the back. Having to fiddle with a mobo to upgrade RAM is a shambles on HP's part. Just another means to attempt to pinch pennies from the pockets of the consumer! For-shame HP!

      I might still forgive HP for the complicated wiring, but not for the pathetic customer service ethics they have.
      I have the same model, little over 2 years and it's already unusable ... HP has the worst customer service in India.
      I am never buying anything HP ever.

    Helpful and I appreciate the video. The camera keeps rotating to get a better view which can be disorienting. The part about RAM... suddenly it's a new take and you're holding a stick of RAM. That was a crucial step and viewers will want to see the whole thing - how you take out current RAM and put in new. So the mobo cannot be lifted entirely out of the way? However on behalf of those willing to open up their x360 - thank you.

    • @MeatPopsycle
      @MeatPopsycle Před 7 lety

      Yea, I am also using it basically for school or any time I won't be around my desktop. I asked about the gaming because I have read that you can essentially double the frame rate in many titles by adding a second memory stick. I assume you already have 2 sticks if you upgraded to 16GB. I picked up a 32GB USB 3.1 stick. I am surprised at how fast it transfers I was thinking of maybe picking up one of those Samsung T1 external SSDs so I could go back and forth between the laptop and desktop. I agree that the audio is good, but I have an issue whenever plugging in external headphones or a line out to my stereo. For some reason, the sound gets very thin, cutting off all of the low frequencies. It it like a software high pass crossover implements. My subwoofers on my home setup don't even turn on because they are not receiving a signal (no low frequencies being output). I found threads online about the same issue, but no solution. I then have to go change formats between 44khz and 48khz to get the sound working correctly. It is a pain in the ass.

    • @MeatPopsycle
      @MeatPopsycle Před 7 lety

      I am also a bit worried about the disassembly. I wish they would have gone with an easier solution. I guess that's the price of thin and light.

      You're welcome. I did the upgrade today....I thought I screwed it up at one point - would not boot or spin up. I had a loose cable. But let me tell you I was really upset thinking I had just screwed up a 600.00 laptop - as well as the cost of RAM and HDD. But it's very peppy with 16 G RAM and the Samsung 500 G M.2 SSD. But I hope I never ever have to work on such a machine dismantling again. If I screw all those screws in one more time, I will scream. ;=) I have built a lot of computers, but these newer laptops are not a pleasant experience.
      I miss the easy access of RAM doors on the base of older units.
      Too much can go wrong with these types of upgrades. Unless you are used to doing things like this, hit the Geek Squad or equivalent ...just my opinion. Thank goodness for videos like this. HP is useless.

      @undagroundrican Před 7 lety +1

      Dorothy Pollock I hear you, I work on fixing, building, and upgrading PC's and laptops and boy does this look a bit challenging. Easy access doors should have been considered for this model especially being that the ssd is only a 128gb. I bought the laptop and returned it. While it was an awesome machine, didn't feel like dealing with the hassle of cracking it open like that. I ended up going with Acer F series 15.6 inch. Pretty much same specs except it has a DVD drive 256gb ssd USB type c easy access door to ram and hard drive and even had a slot for an additional 2.5 hard drive so I just dropped a 7200rpm 1tb in it and and I am golden. Take care and good luck.

    I have this notebook model (1 of 3) as my go to for mobility and ease of use (can easily convert to tablet depending on what task you are doing). Problem is, it's painfully underpowered. Slow to boot and slow to execute anything. With windows 10 as the operating system, it's a shame that HP only put 4 gb of RAM into it. I am also a certified PC technician (as a hobby) and know that if I upgrade the HD to SSD and add more RAM, performance will likely double. I mean pentium processors were the thing then and it's quite capable. Just don't play games with high graphics demand as it may not even install on this unit. The difficulty in accessing the RAM is a freaking design blunder for HP. They should throw whoever designed this laptop/notebook to a cliff, as clearly this is a flaw.

      @@adaboy4z It doesn't take a M.2 2280. It take a M.2 Sata. It's confusing. Basically the same thing but the 2280 has one notch on the pins and this laptop requires a M.2 Sata that needs two pins.

    Really painful to watch....who buys these things from hp? The last elitebook I had was wonderful, you could take out the base cover just with a slider, no screw driver needed....now this!! Shame on you hp!!

    Good work, but it is quite useless. Look just how long it takes to take all the screws out and then you still to mess with the keyboard. This is a recipe for disaster. My old HP laptop was a simple step to open up. Why make it so complicated.
