TALTSON BAY Northwest Territories, located southeast of Great Slave Lake. Fished and guided for over 2 decades. You easily catch over 100 in the first day. And majority of the big fish 41" and up are all on small to medium lures. Johnsilver minnow (with grub tail, muskey Grinder along with a trailer hook (pink & purple) the Burbot walleye green by savage gear.
Alot of our guests love those Big dawgs, I dont fish with bull-dawgs that often but when I do its always on the troll.
Personal largest fish 50.5"
Heaviest fish at 49.5" and weighing in at close to 40pounds
I have managed to get two of my guests to land two 50"s while I was guiding and helped many many more catch their largest Northern Pike in their lives.
You fish at Taltson Bay you'll never experience the same kind of fishing for NorthernPike anywhere.
Being from northwestern Ontario, I was taught to hate pike, however I don't care what anybody says, catching big pike is a lot of fun. And yes they are slimy..LOL. Thanks for the video and keep them coming.

I did land one a couple of weeks ago while Crappie fishing. Light tackle and Pike..what a fight!
Thumbs up for cutting the hooks if need be. Hooks are cheap and trips to emergency rooms are expensive. Not to men the well-being of Trophy fish.
A good size side cutter is a must in my boat. 👍

Pike do some whacked out things sometimes. I've seen them jump right out of the water after a bait and run themselves head first into the side of the boat.

I love your videos! I notice that you don’t finish your retrieve with a figure 8, like musky fishing. We catch a lot of followers using it. Keep the videos coming.
Thanks for watching! Pike aren’t very likely to eat in the figure eight. More of a musky technique.

Missed a central Iowa muskie this past weekend about the same size as the big one. I just hate those momentary lapses in concentration right at the boat with a nice one inches behind the bait.

I have no faith in soft plastics. Yes they attract pike and muskie, yes they hit it.... but I lose so many fish on them! Their teeth stick into the rubber and I either dont get a good hook set or the lure gets slashed from the hook set. I stick to hard baits, better hook up % and I can catch dozens of fish without turning the $30 lure into trash.
You're probably doing something wrong. Just use a shallow screw and rig the hooks using linked swivels and split rings. Most times the bait won't get too slashed up as the hooks detach on the hook set. I hardly loose any on soft plastics and hook up rates are excellent, better than hard baits in fact, as the pike can't leverage themselves off if you rig the soft lure right. Not a fan of headbanger fire tails though. Much better lures than that you can use. I'm in Sweden.
