Slafkovsky's the MOTM, love what he did on the Ice tonight. Shootouts will be a massive confidence booster for him. Points weren't following up, but who cares he did what he had to do. Nashville tomorrow at the Bell Centre. Kudos to Jayden Struble scoring his first in the NHL.
The progression from Juraj Slafkovsky has been absolutely fascinating to watch. Tonight, was a VINTAGE performance. This guy is now all over the ice dominating and being outright the Habs best player in recent weeks. Points will inevitably come. Suzuki, Caufield and him are playing so well, that line could be a dominant force for years to come for this team.
I really hope Slafkovsky continues this upward trend he's on, proving all the haters calling him a bust wrong
hes a bust relative to the hype surrounding him but yeah he will be good future depth
@@ezra_8813 Thing is he was never super hyped, he was a non consensus pick, you only say that cuz he got picked over Wright, who then fell to 4th causing all the commotion as he was projected first. He took his time but he is proving the Habs decision right so far.

Caufield looked happier than Struble on that goal! lol. I love his attitude. Hope his talent doesnt go to waste in Montreal, hopefully they add some offense to help these guys, Suzuki too, he's be a 90-100 point guy, (If not more) on the right line with the right players.

It is reasonable to think that this match will be a turning point in the young career of our friend Slaf. A fight, some nice confident plays and a shootout goal. Nothing better for confidence. As for the toughness of our team, let's just say that they were shook around all over the place by the young Sabres. It makes you wonder where our Sheriff is when we need him. Oh wait... He's in Laval with our American League club. Guess he's not good enough for us... What a senseless, stupid and castrating decision by Management. They don't make many mistakes but this one is worth several.

Canadiens should have won the game in regulation with the perfect pass Suzuki gave to Caufield @ 10:35 in the 3rd. Get that puck off the ice into the net, young fella. He's certainly capable. Good that he made up for it in the shootout.
The pass was a second late for a good shot, he did not need to lift the puck just direct to the near post instead of far post.
Caufield with a huge shootout goal but looked tired. Normally he buries one of the shots he had

Look at the 'reverse' angle (the last replay of the sequence of the save at exactly the 6:00 mark of the video). The net is WIDE open and the puck, which you can't see because it's on Cole's blade already, is about to be deflected by a not very strong shot by Caulfield. Given his position to the goal and that he's moving past it, I think he may have tried to go through the one slot as the goalie is sliding hard along the ice to get his left pad in position, at the very least, to block the shot.
Otherwise he would have tried to get the puck in the air with a stronger deflection. The goalie still could have made a glove save, but that would have been harder given the target area. Cole was close enough to the net to have a higher deflection still have a better chance than along the ice, with the chance of going over the crossbar fairly close to nil.
