    Someone had said they watched the whole 9 min Wooly sitting video, apparently Wooly is just chilling and you can hear gun shots being fired-Also this is what a fandom page had said: It has been speculated by fans that the Demon possessing Amanda the adventurer is Balaam. During Rebecca’s interrogation, she names three demons and this one matches the characteristics of Amanda.(What that means is Amanda aka Rebecca was taken over by Balaam,also known as Wooly in the show.Wooly was trying to manipulate Amanda by appearing to be the innocent one when he was really taking her over.) Balaam in mythology was a demon who could manipulate pocket realms and used children as sacrifices.
    Before being adopted by Sam, who described Rebecca has having a rough life prior, Rebecca's previous mother is implied to have been a cannibal. This is hinted at in the Petting Zoo tape, where Amanda is observing the chickens. There, Amanda points out how "some mommies eat their babies", implying that Rebecca might have witnessed her mother eating one of her siblings. Further giving credence to this is how Amanda acts suspcious if the player chooses to call the rooster "Sam". Additionally, much of Amanda's triggers seem to revolve primarily around meat, as she is visibly distraut when she is forced to go to the butchershop in the altered version of episode 2.

    I just love this little detail: the company is called "Hameln" and their slogan is "Follow us to fun". That can't be a coincidence. Hameln is the German name of the town from the fairytale "The Pied Piper of Hamelin" (in German it's "Der Rattenfänger von Hameln"), which is double genius, because of the rat as the logo. In the fairytale a man successfully gets rid of the rats in town, but the town refuses to pay him as promised, so he kidnaps their children (Follow us to fun: the kids just followed him out of town and the kids in that universe seem to disappear as well). as far why wooly would let amanda "hurt" him its because of what he likes as a demon as BALAAM.
      he likes CUTE THINGS and CHILDRENS STORY BOOKS aka wooly wanted the show to actually be like a happy cute normal childrens show.
      just with himself and other actual children as the stars because that is what he as a demon likes.
      so he dosent punish amanda or fight back when she does creepy or dark things because he quite simply dosent like those things.

It also makes sense when she states that she can feel herself “rotting” and that it feels kinda far away, it makes me think that she died during these experiments and somehow her body was either buried somewhere remote or she was turned into the demon somewhere through these experiments.

    This story is so interesting, but I feel as though Wooly is the missing link.
    We know he's definitely self aware, capable of begging the viewer for help, telling them when he believes Amanda is confused. I know that part in particular, with the birthday card, could make him seem like a villain, but he seems very gentle in his approach, non-aggressively and kindly redirect her to the episode's intent. I can't fathom Wooly being the villain here, and if he is he'd be the most convoluted villain ever written.
    I think all and all the villain is Hameln. They bought the rights to Amanda the Adventurer, telling Sam they'd make a cartoon out of it. Hameln wanted money, and to make the show more captivating they chose to use the star of the show, Rebecca, to invoke a demon, hence her speaking the demon names and hearing "the man in the headphones" (presumably Balaam, the demon that responded). Sam attempted to stop this, but was killed for it, being presumed missing. Hameln then took Rebecca and fused Balaam with her. Balaam is likely angry to be trapped in the body of a little girl doing the bidding of a greedy company, which may contribute itself to Amanda's behaviours. Amanda seems to be a monster that's insanely naive, reflecting both Rebecca and Balaam. This still leaves out Wooly though. Where does he fit?
    I don't think he's Sam, I don't think Hameln would have a reason to embed him into the show. Wooly was an afterthought from Hameln, not present in the original, live action version of the show, so I think the most likely option is that Wooly is another soul or entity trapped within the show by Hameln, but rather than being aggressive like Amanda, for some reason he is docile, cowardly and fearful. He seems to know that Amanda has little control over her aggression, and knows that sometimes she can get lost or forget what she's doing/where the episode is leading. He seems much more likely to be someone implemented to keep Amanda relaxed/at ease, but instead he became the primary target of her aggression, being tortured, attacked, injured and completely ignored by her at times. So rather than putting a damper on Amanda/Balaam, they simply put a victim directly in her wake.
    That's just my conjecture though. I feel like calling Wooly the villain is too easy, especially since he hasn't expressed anything to make it seem that way, apart from the birthday tape (and even that's a stretch) It seems he's simply someone they tried to use to keep Amanda in check, and in turn put Wooly, or whoever he was before, directly into her crosshairs.

      I like this spin on the lore, and I'll add my own thoughts. Wooly is some kind of innocent soul, infused within the show like Rebecca. I feel like Baalamb was sort of infused with the show itself, not necessarily tied to one soul or the other. It's why the monster that comes to kill the player has a mixture of Amanda AND Wooly on its head/face. It's Baalamb, but it's been fused with two souls.
      It could also be a case where Amanda/Wooly aren't necessarily Rebecca and another person, but maybe newly-created souls using Amanda and another as the base, thus why they both are aware they're cartoons, aware they have a purpose, etc. Amanda is more susceptible to outbursts because Rebecca's soul was traumatized by the horrors she witnessed, while Wooly is more innocent and cannot be controlled by Baalamb.

    • @georgekey5198
      @georgekey5198 Před rokem +23

      Saying Sam couldn't be wooly because wooly wasnt present in the original, live action version of the show doesn't make sense. The original live action version was literally Sam's creation that he directed. It wasn't until after Hameln bought the show and turned it into a cartoon that wooly made an appearance. Which would garner more possibility that Sam was converted into wooly, simply because sam disappeared around the same time the show was turned into a cartoon and wooly made his first appearance. Although I don't believe wooly is Sam just based off wooly's behavior, its still a possibility.

      i agree with this too. they didn’t have anyone else present for the birthday to even be for, and amanda seemed really distressed about not knowing who’s birthday it was. wooly simply served as a person for amanda to give the gift to in that moment. non exactly evil or villainous. also with amanda attacking him, and winning, it really doesn’t make sense for him to be the villain at all to me. if anything, amanda is the most in control, despite her confusion and agressive outbursts.

      the Demon possessing Amanda the adventurer is Balaam.

    I think the lore here is that Sam adopted Rebecca and after watching her learn and play, created a live action Dora-esque show called Amanda the adventurer starring his daughter. At some point, possibly during the height of it's popularity, Hameln approached Sam and offered to convert the show into animation form. Sam said yes, unaware of their true motives. Hameln would then begin the process of turning Rebecca into the cartoon character Amanda. Sam got suspicious or maybe he even directly found out what they were doing. Either way he wanted out of this nonsense, he wanted to protect his daughter. Hameln didn't like that he was getting in the way of their plans, so they made him "disappear" and then they kept going. Possibly calling on the demons Bael, Paimon, and Balam to split Rebecca's soul in two, one half became the Amanda demon and the other half became Amanda the character. The character Amanda acts the most like Rebecca being angry, scared, sad, and confused on what's going on and why this happened. So they likely gave her Wooly to be a foil to her actions to keep her in line. Wooly could either be Balam or he could be his own character. But in the end, Hameln's goal was to create a show that would have character Amanda essentially hypnotise and lure children away from their families to either be kidnapped or killed by demon Amanda. Just like the Pied Piper from Hamelin. There's still a lot we don't yet know but I hope we get more content in the future and I hope my comment helped other people understand a little more.

    This is what me and probably many other people interpreted the secret tapes: Basically after adopting Rebecca, Sam is inspired to make a live-action show which would turn out to be Amanda the Adventurer with Rebecca as Amanda. The show, with Aunt Kate promoting it with every storytime, gained a massive following. At some point during the show’s fame, Hameln approached Sam with the interest of making Amanda the Adventurer into a cartoon (hence the tapes we see in the attic), to which Sam is very excited about. However, during the cartoon show’s production of it, Sam became more concerned and suspicious about Hameln’s true intentions with the show and Rebecca (hence his reaction to when Rebecca is trying to read out “Paimon”, “Baal”, etc., and her reaction to the “man in the headphones”). It may have come to the point where Hameln decided to remove Sam from the equation which leads to Sam’s disappearance and his daughter by herself with the Hameln company. Without Sam, Hameln basically own the rights to Rebecca which leads to her unknowingly sign her life away to become an experiment for the devil which I would call “The Pied Piper Experiment” since that’s the connection that almost everyone makes (as shown in one of the tapes where Rebecca signs the contract). Rebecca is now physically dead but her subconscious is now trapped within the tapes (hence when Amanda says she feels herself rotting and that she’s still out there somewhere). The more we learn about the story, the more we realized how sad Sam and Rebecca’s stories are. All Sam wanted is to share the light that Rebecca shared with him to the world only for that light to be corrupted by a company who takes advantage of it and use it as the opposite to gain children, possibly to add more to their Pied Piper experiment.
    Edit: This is actually a lot of fun seeing you guys add in some info and/or making your own theories about it! I enjoy having these conversations and theorizing back and forward!! Can’t wait for the devs to give us more lore whether it’s through a sequel game or something else entirely. :>

    I really am so confused about what/who Wooly is. When Sam talks about the show with Rebecca, I never hear Wooly mentioned once. Seems like Wooly only existed after Hamelin got rights to produce the animation. And he has control over the in-world universe of the tapes like Amanda, maybe not to the same extent?
    Whenever Wooly tries to talk to us one on one Amanda always intervenes, but if Amanda wills it she'll talk to us alone. If Wooly tries to speak up over Amanda, shes always quick to keep him quiet or remove him.
    Amanda does not consider Wooly her "best friend", like he asked for a special treat and Amanda just ignores him. In fact she ignores Wooly at times, or cuts him down. Hell, she goes as far as to hurting him and torturing him.
    Wooly always seems to want to keep the wholesomeness of what the show was meant to be, before Sam had disappeared.
    He wants to steer Amanda away from gruesome topics, telling her its gone too far.
    I can not tell if Wooly is a victim or somehow secretly a villain.

    These tapes give me the following theory: Amanda/Rebecca was a rescued victim of abuse. Adopted by Sam she tried to keep positive and eventually Sam created Amanda the Adventurer. Though as the show blew up in popularity the “director” offered on giving the show the proper budget it needed and turned the show from live acting to CGI animation. Though the director had much darker plans that Sam was constantly trying to intercept. Through the tape discussing Rebecca’s vocal training it appeared as if the director was developing an AI generated voice of Amanda, creepily enough by having Rebecca vaguely recite demon names. Some time after this Sam goes missing, presumably dead, and because of Amanda’s incapability of avoiding entering the butchery in one of the tapes, it’s to be assumed Rebecca had some form of exposure to her step-father’s murder. This is what broke Rebecca, and allowed the director to both perfect the AI Amanda for the show, but also give Rebecca a sense of having nobody to help her, and allow the director to brainwash her. Eventually the AI was complete and Rebecca was disposed of just like Sam. However being created directly by Rebecca the Amanda that had resulted and in conjunction the one we see in the tapes are a mix of the brainwashing of the director, and Rebecca’s trauma. This is why she will give messages such as “don’t listen to your parents” but still react to information about Rebecca. Wooly also is a key piece for Amanda’s character, as he is meant to be a personification of Sam in a similar sense Amanda is to Rebecca. This is why Wooly is someone Amanda will respect at one moment, being Rebecca’s love of her late father, but then abuse at another, being the brainwashing the director did. It is also why Wooly tried to convince Amanda out of bad behavior or deescalate the situation, as Wooly is taking a father role being a representation of Sam. But in the end Wooly is powerless against Amanda much like how the director disposed of Sam. Finally Amanda is fully aware of her real life counterpart, potentially even containing Rebecca’s spirit, as she both describes herself rotting, and her big secret being that she is out there it all becomes clear that Rebecca is dead and buried, and throughout it all Amanda’s goal in the whole situation is to fight against her very world to try to get the message out that Rebecca was murdered by her very creators.

    The story of the Pied Piper is set in the town of Hamelin, Germany (Hameln). The story is about a stranger who comes and helps the town of their rat infestation by playing his pipe and leading the rats into the river where they end up drowning. The townspeople ended up not wanting to pay the Pied Piper for relieving them of the infestation which ended up making him angry. In retaliation, he played his flute and the children of the townspeople followed the Pied Piper to a cave where he put all of the children in it and sealed them away except for two children; a boy and a girl. The boy injured his leg (much like Woolie) and the girl ran to town and told the townspeople what happened. The townspeople begged for forgiveness and promised him vast amounts of gold. The Pied Piper let the children go and then disappeared, and the townspeople of Hamelin learned to not be greedy and ungrateful.

    It's thought that the demon Balam (Balam had the ability of limited precognition, mortals would worship and entreat him for power or glimpses of the future. He was also capable of shapeshifting. He gives perfect answers on things past, present, and to come, and can also make men invisible and witty. He sees through the 4th dimension, and can view anyone's future past or fate, given the right price.) is residing inside of her. It is thought to be him because although Hamlen decided to call on 3 demons, in order to gain knowledge they seemed to have succeeded in summoning this one. The 4th wall break as well as taking people into his dimension are strong indicators. You call on a demon by saying their name 3 times, hence why the "Baah Lamb" and other phrases got repeated 3 times.
    They made Sam disappear because he was getting in their way ...obviously to protect his daughter. They succeeded in summoning Balam and as exchange for knowledge to Hamlen he took the children that then went missing.
    As for wooly I'm not sure if it's Sam himself and they tried to tie his soul to the TV show ro see if it would work well before going through with tying Rebecca to it. OR if it's an AI created to keep the entity Balam at bay by calming Rebecca. ...
    Rebecca herself seems to still be alive "I'm out there" indicating that she is still somewhere "we have to help her before it's too late". Or she is already dead "I can feel myself ...rotting", however that could also mean that she's rotting as in aging and her mind is getting more and more detached form her body. So it's more of a metaphorical rotting. Like when you have no work and just sit at home "rotting away". Hope to find out more about it in the future!!!

      @@Glaycier it's definitely Bael/Baal. The need for sacrifices probably come from Balaam as in the Bible he's a diviner and needed sacrifices to appease the Gods for the curses King Balak requested.
      What I like about this game is that all three of those names are used in some way. Bael's main contribution being the ability to turn men/things invisible and popularity (the show evil secrets literally hidden in the plain sight of parents and Sam seemingly vanishing).
      Paimon's contribution probably being his ability to create things and to reanimate the dead(Amanda being a reanimated version of Rebecca).
      Balaam is a little harder for me to pin point in terms of his use in the storyline but it makes sense that Wooly's also able to interact with the viewers as Balaam's gift is hearing and speaking God's word sort of like a prophet. However, though he's seen as evil in the Bible he's only ever been able to relay God's word. He can do nothing else so even his curses become blessings. If the story continues like I hope it continues Wooly will have a new "God" as Hameln is brought down somehow and goes into the ownership of a morally better company and he will have a redemption of sorts cause I love his character

Once the Pied Piper got rid of the rats with his magic flute he went to the king again for payment but then was betrayed by the king and wasn't paid. So Pied Piper played his flute and lured all the towns kids into a cave and sealed them up never to be heard from again. So, from what i've got:
    Sam isn't biologically Rebecca's dad. He adopted her, and before that she got through some kind of a bad experience. They were just normal family, and at some point Sam decided to start filming show "Amanda the adventurer" starring his daughter to remind her and other children with a traumatic experience that "world is a wonderful place", "adventures await" and teach them some useful skills in the process. The show was a huge success in the local neighborhood. (from "coffee break with Sadie", green tape)
    Then that "Hameln entertainment" took interest in it and decided to make something big - at least bigger than it was - out if it. As the setup (straightup "The Pied Piper of Hamelin" references - name, rat logo, "FOLLOW US to fun") suggests they had ulterior motives. They wanted to harvest/trap children souls or just children (as mentioning of the demon's names suggests + abduction, orange tape). And for that purpose they took someone both children and their parents adored - Rebecca as The Amanda the Adventurer - and placed demon inside her (bc according to some traditions chanting demon's names is the fast way to get possessed - purple tape).
    I didn't quite get what exactly happened to Rebecca. Either her body and soul got separated, which would explain how she can be on the tape (her trapped soul) and simultaneously in the attic biting head off protagonist (her body, possessed by demon and therefore deformed). Or she got merged with demon, which would explain her confused and/or panicked reactions to certain words one moment and violent and cruel behavior the other.
    The process of possession probably was gradual. I thought abt it, when I took a closer look at the end credits.
    At first it was:
    "cast
    Rebecca Colton
    as
    Amanda the Adventurer"
    but then:
    "cast
    Amanda
    Rebecca Colton"
    Also they cancelled all meetings with Rebecca claiming that she "needs time out of the spotlight" but at this point Rebecca herself was probably not alive/trapped on the recording/possesed (red tape).
    I believe that "Hameln entertainment" has something to do with Sam's disappearance too. He clearly was unhappy with what they was doing to his daughter (purple tape), so they could get rid of him for their convenience. He could be first/one of the first victims (considering how every episode there is entaerly different crew on the credits) of the cassets. He could be Wooly.
    Or Kate could be Wooly actually, considering that Amanda mentions that "today is her friend's birthday" and coincidently it's also Wooly's birthday today. It's probably easy to confirm - there are some birthday dates mentioned in the game, but i'm too lazy to do that at this point 🙃 Kate also personally knew Rebecca/Amanda through the library meetings and was actually her friend (green tape?)
    By the way, it took me some time to realize how's protagonist connected to all of it 🤪Kate is their aunt.

Here is what I thought: I think since Rebecca was adopted and has apparently been through a lot before, she enjoyed her new life as the star of the show so much that she signed away her soul to BE Amanda in the cartoon version. Because she couldn't cope with losing her new (good) life. Her body might still exist in some kind of coma, so it is said that she needs to "recover" somewhere. Maybe in a psych ward of she is conscious but possesed by the demons.

  • @tobias7877
    @tobias7877 Před rokem +622

    I'm really loving the lore in this game!
    What I theorize is that Hameln, being a reference to the town in the tale of the Pied Piper, are one of two evils going on here. They saw how popular the original Amanda the Adevnturer was and wanted to be a cartoon powerhouse out of greed, so they offered up the cartoon to get a hold of the creator and the talent (dad and daughter).
    They wanted a way to capture viewers, not necessarily harm them, but to entrance them and sought supernatural means of doing it. But they needed a host/sacrifice and seeing as Rebecca was THE voice of the show, they figured she would be perfect. They had her reading off names of demons to try and find any demon at all that would grant them this power and attach to Rebecca. Baalam was the one that responded, and possessed Rebecca.
    I think it would be about this time where Sam "disappeared", because he wanted to help his daughter with fight whatever the company did to her. They killed him and held onto their possessed "sacrifice" to integrate it into their AI program to get tons of viewers hooked on the show with Baalam's "help".
    But Baalam, "the man in the headphones" was tricked into possessing Rebecca, a child with no real autonomy, to do the bidding of Hameln, who only wanted a widely successful show due to greed (the same greed that the original villagers of Hamelin had when they wouldn't pay the Piper)
    Hameln experimented on Rebecca, successfully implanting both her voice and Baalam's influence into their AI to make the character Amanda. Rebecca died in the process, and was disposed of because the company had what they needed from both her and the demon.
    They realized after that Baalam was angry and unruly and had to add a being to try to keep both Rebecca from realizing what happened to her, and Baalam in check, which became Wooly. They even modeled him into a sheep that stands upright, like depictions of Baalam. But the demon himself was angry for being tricked, and angry that Hameln thought they could control him, and that's why he occasionally lashes out against Wooly. He also twisted his influence to not just entrance kids, but actually take them away, just like the pied Piper. He was wronged by Hameln and so their vision for greed was corrupted to so far more harm than intended.
    All of the disappeared children are anything with eyes in the show itself. Baalam would call them into the light like the escape ending, through doorways or something, and they would be transported into the show itself.
    I don't think that Wooly is Sam, but I do think he also is a soul trapped by Hameln to act as a sentient guard to Amanda, but he was unwilling and knew about the evils of the company, which is why he's scared of both the company (doesn't want Amanda to figure out what happened to the real her, Rebecca), and of the demonic entity that is attached to Amanda and seeks revenge and an escape.
    I guess the last thing is that although Baalam is trapped in the tapes as part of Amanda, he has influence over the body that Hameln attached him to, and that's why the corrupted body of Rebecca can find and kill you when you do enough wrong to suppress Rebecca and anger Amanda, it give Baalam more power when Rebecca is suppressed and he can command the body to find and kill you, thus finding the tapes (maybe to free himself?)
    Idk prob a bunch of gibberish but it made me think a lot and I wanted to get the words out. Sorry for the length and also love you Sean!

    I'm surprised that no one has mentioned this, but Rebecca was totally killed by the studio and dismembered and/or experimented on.
    This can be seen in how scared Amanda is when trying to get her to go to the butcher shop, and then further hinted at in the ending where the viewer is hanging from a meathook. At one point, when the tapes are starting to get corrupted and pieced together to give a clue, the subtitles specifically say "Amanda (chopped up):"
    Another thing that jumped out at me was in the live action tape of Rebecca being taken from the document signing into a separate, guarded room. From what we could see, there is a light inside the room that is reminiscent of surgey type lights (ie. Its height and strange shape), and she was most botably led into the room by what looked like a doctor.
    This possibility also relates to how the doctor's room looked in the second viewing of the Accident tape and how Amanda was talking about which tools to use on Woolly's head. Maybe this is what happened to Rebecca in real life, and explains why a neurosurgeon was credited in the shows ending scenes.
    The reason the company did this was to probably finish the "AI training" that Sam had put a stop to. With Sam gone, they didnt need to use the guise of training anymore and perhaps implemented Rebecca herself into the Amanda character
    (And yes I've commented this on another video)

    i see a lot of people speculating on wooly and the nature of his character as well as the demons and how they are posessing rebecca/amanda and whatnot but no one seems to be questioning the toys? like why are the doll and blabbot sentient and able to talk to us, and why does kate have them? both seem willing to help us so they dont seem evil or demonically possessed, but we still have to kill both of them to progress the story. we also know that Blabbot is a toy by Hameln so i think we can assume the doll is too. i wonder if they are actually possessed by other children like amanda is, and on top of that i wonder if they might be jordan and lauren (the missing boy from the letter and the birthday girl on the orange tape) but this may be a stretch, although we do see that lauren also had a doll in the video so maybe not. alternatively, they could be possessed by completely different children from before the show's creation, because if we assume Hameln is some demonic cult company trying to steal children, i can imagine they have tried other forms of luring/indoctrinating children before they decided to make an animated show.

  • @jaispark27
    @jaispark27 Před rokem +28

    Personally I think the theories calling Wooly the victim are completely off. I think Wooly is just there to keep Amanda/Rebecca in check and monitor her behavior so that no one who watches the tapes can discover the truth about what happened to her and her father. Every time Amanda/Rebecca begins to show signs of emotional instability or even just sadness, he tries to redirect her attention elsewhere (ex: he says, “Haha, I think Amanda is confused…” to the audience when Amanda is visibly upset, instead of showing concern for her.) And when Amanda/Rebecca wants to send a present/card to her “friend” Kate (Aunt Kate from the letters), Wooly keeps trying to redirect the attention back to it being his birthday instead, which felt slightly manipulative/passive aggressive to me. He clearly doesn’t want the person watching the tapes to know about Aunt Kate and learn about her connection to Sam and Rebecca. And during the “Everything Rots”tape, it’s clear that Amanda/Rebecca unconsciously knows that something is wrong. She knows Hamelin killed her, which is why she says “Sometimes I feel myself rotting, but it feels far away,” and Wooly is so upset by it because he doesn’t want her to talk about it and reveal the truth. I think the reason Amanda hates Wooly so much and mistreats him is because she knows he’s not really her friend, he’s just there to control her in very subtle ways that could be interpreted as innocent or harmless to outside viewers. I think all of Amanda’s/Rebecca’s attacks on Wooly are just her attempting to fight back, even if it’s futile because she knows there’s nothing else she can do. I’m sure the demon possession stuff plays a part as well, but if we’re following along with the basic idea that Rebecca’s soul is trapped in the Amanda tapes, how she acts towards Wooly makes a lot of sense.

    • @squirrelbugg99
      @squirrelbugg99 Před 11 měsíci +3

      She also tell him “it’s all just pretend, right Wooly?” in the “Accidents” tape when she gives him the drugged water. It seems like she’s trying to use his own tricks against him. Like when she doesn’t want to do something bad, he just tells her it’s just pretend to shut her up and make her do it.

    • @karleypayton8845
      @karleypayton8845 Před 11 měsíci

      Wow this is a very interesting take on this, because I felt the complete opposite. Like Wooly is Sam, he's her protector and is doing what he can to avoid the demon from taking over completely, as he knows when Rebecca gets upset, then that's when Amanda starts her stuff. It's almost like she isn't fully possessed yet, but that's it's enough of a possession that Hamelin was able to kill Rebecca (along with Sam) and continue whatever they are doing. Maybe Wooly is someone else who is innocent, who hasn't been taken over by a demon, and has just learned ways to help her calm down to avoid an overall possession.
