For me, Nathanos has always been that guy who always tries to tell you how much better he is than you, despite not actually being the case. Based on how he interacts with you in quests he gives I half expect him to try to underplay everything you do.
"Oh, you helped to defeat Argus the manifestation of a Titan world-soul and vanquished the Burning Legion? Well I like, can do that with one hand tied behind my back."
"Oh, you were chosen as the Champion of Azeroth, and your armor is literally infused with the life-blood of Azeroth itself? Well, I am the Champion of the Banshee Queen and have a sick-ass coat. Take that."
To be fair though, it is a pretty cool coat.

Nah, we're champion now. Always champion. They note our accomplishments. For each of us, it wasn't some other group of adventurers, it was us. Our guild/raid group, that one time, was who it was. The other players' stories didn't happen, as far as we're concerned, and vise versa for them.

@justin perry Nathanos saved Lor'themar's life and helped Sylvanas fight off oraș when they attacked the elves. They beadically became a couple months later, they both matched perfectly, this is how he became ranger-lord. Its unfortunate I haven't played the horde side of quests to see the development of their relationship.

I've been watching lore videos to catch up and never could figure out where this dude came from. Now I'm recalling all of the quests into the EP to find this guy. Good trip down memory lane.

In the pre-Shadowlands event we killed him 1,000s of times. I saved screenshots of the masses of us in Icecrown killing ALL the world bosses.
It was the largest gathering of simultaneous players in an event since WotLK. I was so happy I almost man-cried (smiled).
Nathanos is just a way of introducing a (Dead) Human Allied Race for Horde, a bit like Calia Menethil introduces Undead to the Alliance. It would have been much simpler if they had just given Horde Ogres and Alliance High Elves rather than all the messy Allied Races. I know they didn't do this because of the "Orges are too big" and "Blood Elves are High Elves" arguments but IMO that would have been better. Tauren(ish) sized Ogres would have been fine and if there weren't enough High Elves than how can there be enough Void Elves?!?
Kul'Tiran Humans and Zandalari Troll's are alright the rest are meh reskins.

The voice actor of Nathanos Blightcaller was in a child's bike safety video in the 80s as a guy named Sam Sprocket who has teleportation powers and wears a pink shirt.
The voice actor has done other wow characters too like Darkmaster Gandling in Scholomance and Star Auger in Nighthold.
Now I’m imagining Nathanos wearing a pink shirt, and teleporting everywhere xD

I've lately noticed a lot of players calling Nathanos a "Simp" but i am confused, doesent he serve Sylvanas? Like hes her knight (Or champion)

What is you're opinion on this? Is he a "Simp" or just Loyal to a fault? (In any case he's one of the more interesting undead characters IMO)

Nathanos is nothing more than a mere "pet" a "toy" Sylvanas have been playing with for the longest of time. He still thinks he is "a champion" or "something" but the truth is that he will be discarded like a used tissue, At least this would be true if he wasnt a self inserted character into the Lore of Warcraft.
Wishful thinking; Forsaken heritage armour quest will unlock an option to reskin your toon to look more human-like, a la Nathanos

Cool really enjoyed it. My race that I care about the most is the forsaken and the dark lady. When I first saw them they blew my mind. I love fantasy and skeletons are really cool warriors. And the forsaken are really cool.

@nobbel87 so i got this theory.i think we are gonna see a agreement between the horde and alliance about war, something like the geneve conventions, an agreement that sets rules for the treatment of prisoners and use of certain means to fight, like the use of azerite.i dont think there will be everlasting peace between the factions, that doesnt really fit in the universe of warcraft.i think we are gonna find something in this expansion or the next that slaps all faction leaders awake and shows that azeroth is dying, with the whole sword sticking out of the planet and the old gods and people using her blood to make even greater weapons to fight wars that hurt her even more, she is in a pretty bad state.and this is what makes the faction leaders at that time agree that we have to reduce the damage we do and dont totally annihilate all live and undeath on azeroth.
and after that we will be tasked with finding a way to stop her from dying,i dont know how they will handle sylvanas and what her role is gonna be, i think its safe to say we arent gonna kill her, but we shall see.
but what do you think nobbel? do you think we are gonna have some council of people talk about war and what is and isnt something that should be allowed, or do you think we will see just another sudden halt in the conflict because some big bad guy shows up and distracts us for awhile untill we deal with that and go back to fighting?
PS: and as i am typing this i am reminded we still dont have much of the darker side of the alliance, or do we and i missed it?i could swear someone at blizzard said that both the horde and alliance were gonna have to deal with some things they were not proud of during the war.

Ah yes, the Windrunner sisters sure do love their human men! Honestly out of all of the guys they chose, Nathanos is the most interesting. Turalyon is just your typical do-gooder zealot paladin type and Rhonin (I believe he was a mage) didnt get much in the way of WoW screen time (I could be wrong) but he is just kinda a foot-note.
I mean its obvious Slyvanas and Nathanos had a thing and certainly in life were romantic/intimate (I believe this is spoken about in Before the Storm). So there is an interesting dynamic there, it's just a wonder on Nathanos' loyalty - does he doubt her? Does he want to speak up or overthrow her? Or is there alot more romantic vested interest and not just magical-Lich-Queen-esque/class loyalty there? I like to think so.. but Nathanos doesn't just love Slyvanas, he worships her.
This makes me think their relationship isn't quite equal, with Slyvanas being the obvious dominant one (even in life). Maybe Nathanos is just REALLY into femdom.. ? XD
blacksesamecandies rhonin is clearly the the most interesting of the bunch, doing such things like freeing Alexstraza, time travelling to the war of ancients with Broxigar (the only mortal to ever wound Sargeras) and teaching Illidan to use magic, and fighting Archimonde one on one for a time.
This is on top of being the acknowledged “leader” of the six, a group of people that at several points included a Red Dragon Consort, the aspect of magic, Kel’thezud, Kael’thas, Khadgar, and Jaina, despite being one of the youngest and shortest serving members of the Six

I wish all undead had the characterization to look like him because Lord knows I will pick an undead race if they look like him basically you know the human look. Or at least they can do the same concept with all the other races
For all those that say it would just be a human reskin well with that if you are human and you just died on the field I mean your body isn't going to automatically rot like you've been dead for months or something and if you just died and you get raised up in battle by sylvanas that you're going to look exactly the way you did.

i know that he's generally... disliked by the majority of the fanbase, but i happen to be one of the few who like him.
plus the wow lore experience i've had with my friends (and we're all 25-35 year old ladies) has been that nathanos x sylvanas has become somewhat of an otp. ^-^

I just realized that Arthas' father must of had him late, when he's ruled a kingdom for 70 years and his son is only in his mid 20s
It's not cannon but maybe with a little more traffic Blizzard would consider it. A little something I wrote:
"Nathanos was one of the only human rangers in the Farstriders at the time and most of my kind were a little disgusted with him but they couldn't deny his skill. Nathanos Marris had certain traits that I immediately found appealing and one of the most prominent was his penchant for taking risk and coming out on top. He wasn't a young upstart wanting to be guided into greatness but also wasn't a centuries old member fearing that everything they worked for could be gone in one second in a battle. He knew that he came from nothing and he would die with nothing, he told me that he was expendable and with that, I threw him at the most dangerous members of the Horde. When he would win I was drawn to him and I knew he was very attracted to me. It was even more strange because I was the Ranger General of Silvermoon. Most men were afraid of me, they knew at the most I could kill them easily or at the least strip them of rank and power." Sylvanas laughed, "That didn't stop him from making his affection to me very obvious."
"He brought me a flower and I threatened to kill him. Nathanos said, 'I could bring you gems if that's what you would like.' Right in front of everyone, in front of my people, but he only had to look at them for them to stand down. Even as a soldier in my command I could see he had power that had taken me decades to obtain and I told him I could strip him of rank and he just shrugged, smiled, and walked away. He had this playful attitude toward everything and he didn't just take risks with extremely dangerous enemies, he took a risk with an extremely dangerous… well, me."
"He made his way into my private tent with gems this time, I drew my arrow, and he placed them on the nightstand by my bed. He told me that he lived to serve me, if I wanted him to die he would die, but it would be such a waste of his talents that could be used elsewhere, in matters of war and love. During that time there was almost a week of downtime. No fighting, no battles, just patrols and training. He was bored, I suppose, and so was I. I looked away and told him there were plenty of elves that admired him, that he could easily take to bed. Nathanos said, 'There's only you. My life is yours. My sword is yours. My bow is yours…' he paused, '…my heart is yours. Send me to kill your enemies anywhere… and I'll go.' I smiled, and I told him to take off his clothes."
"Did you?" Perfectia hinted.
Sylvanas nodded, "Many times, yes. I was somewhat pleasantly surprised when I passed my blood those weeks because I found out my sister Alleria was carrying from just one night with Turalyon, but I never really saw a future with Nathanos. I was clearly attracted to him, but in the end, I had no problem leaving him. I said farewell to a man who loves me, a man I thought I cared for, and I felt nothing."
"Why?" Perfectia asked.
Sylvanas looked away as she thought back, "I don't know, he was missing something. He was simple, he only did what he wanted to do. He pursued me because he found me physically attractive, but I think that's all we cared about, the feelings on both sides were relatively shallow. I think he was genuinely impressed with my character by the end of our time together, but when I left, he seemed mostly disappointed that he would never have a conquest with the same status or title. I knew he would never forget me, I knew that he would most likely brag about me, and I knew there would be plenty more women after me. So, it wasn't incredibly heart-wrenching to leave him behind. In addition, he didn't really seem to care about anything more than his own personal pleasure and he stated that repeatedly. Nathanos wanted what he wanted, and he would go after that, and that confidence was what I found attractive, but it wasn't love."
"Do you love him now?" Perfectia asked.
Sylvanas shook her head, "No, even if we were both still alive. Even now he seems to have no vision or principles beyond his own self-interest and mine. You love people that have principles, have character, a purpose that is bigger than themselves, and you love people who inspire you to be more through their example and I think that's why you fell in love with Anduin…" She paused and looked Perfectia in the eyes, "…and he fell in love with you." Sylvanas looked away, "A very rare few amounts of people would even think of walking behind enemy lines in disguise and declaring their love to an enemy king." Sylvanas shook her head, "It was stupidly reckless, and seemingly impossible, but here you are."
Sylvanas thought back, " I didn't think of Nathanos once while I was fighting Arthas, I mean we had the numbers, we knew the areas, how could I have predicted a betrayal in my own people? When I was under his control and I couldn't make a single move without his permission I kept thinking maybe one of Nathanos's poisonous arrows would find its way into Arthas's neck and free me from that torment."
Sylvanas thought back disgusted, "Then that cursed mage. Jaundace, was somehow free from Frostmourne's control because of love? I had never been so disgusted and yet regretful, and angry that we couldn't love each other, and I tried to focus on the idea that, on what if things were just a little different." Sylvanas's half smiled, "It became harder for Arthas to control me after that, when I thought about being in his embrace again. Until I was in complete control again."
"Did you see him again?" Perfectia asked.
Sylvanas nodded, "After I killed Grand Marshal Garithos and I was surprised. He ran up to me while I was on my horse, killed a few of my Forsaken troops and declared his undying love for me. He got down on his hands and knees and begged me to forgive him for not being there, it was truly pathetic. Like I was some kind of injured puppy that needed to be nursed back to health. I was angry and disgusted, not only because he wasn't there when I needed him, but the memory of seeing him grovel after remembering him so handsome and confident was completely destroyed. I said I was surprised to see him, but before, being next to him would make my cheeks blush and my lips and loins burn. Maybe it was the curse of the undead, maybe it was the pathetic scene he made of me and himself, but what I think it was, was that, why didn't he do this before? It was like he knew that he wasn't good enough for me before and now that I was cursed, now all of a sudden, I was. So, when I passed my curse onto him, I felt no sympathy, he would be a tool in my disposal, and I kept him in the Plaguelands so I would never have to be reminded of what could have been."
Sylvanas half smiled, "I suppose over time I became less angry and after my sister Vereesa rejected my offer to kill Garrosh Hellscream in his cell, and I was declared Warchief of the Horde things were a lot lonelier from that point on, so which is why he hasn't left my side. I think he loves me still, but I don't think I can ever return it. We don't talk about times past, we were different people, and if he died tomorrow I would only be at a loss of losing a talented soldier. I suppose it would be a little lonelier."

Nathanos seems like a pretty badass character, though I think he is also a bit flat with all of the "my queen" stuff. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but I do wish he had a bit more of a character arc in the new expansion. For the expansion that was supposed to focus on characters more, bfa has really forgotten about some of the best.
I don't think he's 100% honest with the whole "my queen" stuff. I feel he is somewhat troubled by Sylvanas's actions but still has his sense of loyalty.

I see a neat parallel here between the story that Darth Sidious told to Anakin Skywalker about the Sith Lord that could raise the dead back to life, which led Anakin to the dark side.

Could you do a video on Halford Wyrmbane? I mean, it’s clear he is the mastermind behind the strike in Dazar’alor, which turns out to be a massive victory for the Alliance. Everyone knows and respects him, and most of all it’s just refreshing to have an alliance character who is actively taking the fight to the Horde rather than simply reacting to what the Horde do. He is also a paladin with a heavy sense of honor, yet he openly embraces SI7 and the void elves as comrades. That guy is such a badass but I can’t find much about his lore. Yet he has been throughout the game for as long as I can remember (the dark portal entrance in the burning crusade and dragonblight zone in Northrend are what I can think of off the top of my head.) Anything you can find would be great!

Nathanos is literally everywhere for Horde in BfA, listening to this clown who has done jack shit compared to the PC make some smartass comment every single time we see him gets old fast.
They take out thier anger for Sylvanas on him, since she's not exactly very active since pre patch. It's well known how much she triggers the incels online lately. Any character heavily associated to her will be hated. It's stupid as fuck but I personally find it hilarious.
Disctete Nah. Nathanos is just extremely boring. Gallywix is a scumbag too but at least he's enjoyable.
