In retrospect this was poor behavior on my part and should have not been in the video in the first place. But I want to let everyone who watch's this know but the video is slightly different than the original post.

Dragons Dogma is a game you need to experience, not watch on youtube. At its core, it's a game with shit story and chaotic but easy combat. But, most of all, it's a player driven exploration simulator.
It ain't perfect, but it's a good experience imo.

Since a lot of people don’t actually go into detail about the micro transactions I’m gonna.
TLDR: Like a lot of others have said they are not bad and will not affect your gameplay, no pop ups or anything just a bunch of borderline worthless items available to purchase.
You can get 5 wakestones total. You use these to revive dead npcs, you get these like candy in the normal game and I cannot ponder why they’re even in the store. Only 5 when you can find a limitless number in game.
Art of metamorphosis, gaol key, rift incense, are items you can buy 1 of. 1st is an appearance changer (they’re cheap as shit in the game and you can get 99 from each vendor who sells them) 2nd is a jail key (you can get a limitless version a few hours into the game and you hardly get arrested) 3rd changes what your follower does, (again buy them in game for cheap)
1 portcrystal to set a fast travel place, you find maybe 7 in the game on a run and can only place 10 so I guess this one almost makes sense, still need an item you can only get in game to use.
Harpy snare… lures harpies… why would you pay to lure them there is almost always a group in sight.
Pendant and camp kit are visually appealing versions of things you can get easily (bundle of flowers, and any other camping kit)
And rift crystals, the most egregious of the bunch. You use them to hire followers of a higher level than you to make the game easier, you get thousands of these in game and can continue to grind them out. You also use them to buy many of the other dlc items in game. Also funny glasses. Rift crystals were in the first game to a lot of peoples displeasure but did not come anywhere near to ruining the game much like this.
In the end I guess do what you will. There are far worse games with even more predatory practices that just get pushed to the side like CoD which ships at the same price with waaaaay worse monetization or gatcha games which use the guise of “free” to get away with charging hundreds to get game changing characters and gear. This game is amazing and worth playing even if you wait for a sale or denuvo being removed or whatever issue vexes you personally.

Totally agree! "Buyer beware" not only means be careful of what you're buying but be careful of putting up with shoddy goods and bad service as that will become The New Normal. A little jank is fine (hey, I still love Skyrim). Paying cash for a fancy hat is acceptable (I play -Fashion Wars 2-, er, I mean Guild Wars 2). But paying AAA price for anti-cheat in a single player game with a cash shop selling fast travel? Absolutely not. As a great man once said (again and again), "Hey. You're finally awake..."

In gw2 you can buy gold to get the legendary item requirements as well as for ascended gear. Hell, you can get some legendaries off the market. So....yea. Just saying ;P
They also don't sell fast travel. They sell fast travel destinations. Anyone who has played the game for more than a few hours will tell you how useless it is to have one more port location. There is plenty of fast travel in the game with oxcarts and like 7 port locations in total in the base game without buying the ONE extra you can get by spending 2$.

You're missing out my friend. I would even pay $100.00 for a videogame that provides 100 hours+ of awesome gaming experience. Thats a dollar an hour of fun!
Who cares sbout the microtransactions!? Capcom always does it. Monster Hunter did it. Resident evil did it. Hell even street fighter did it! Nobody was bitching then. Now that the bandwagon has been so popular lately, everyone wants to take the "moral high ground" and boycott this amazing gem of a game...
I personally refuse to let trivial matters ruin my gaming experience. There arent many good games these days that provide the dopamine hit I get from exploring in dragons dogma 2. Not since witcher 3, breath of the wild, skyrim, or elden ring. That says alot to me.
It's absolutely absurd to miss out on one of the best games to date simply because of microtransactions. Its sitting at an 87% on metacritic! Thats higher than some of the most beloved games in the industry.
Don't let the review bombs fool you. And don't let these justice warriors convince you to miss out on this fantastic adventure!!!
And just an FYI, the microtransactions do not impact the game. You can purchase ferrystones but so what? You cant use them unless you have a port crystal! Thats like selling the keys without the car that goes with them.

Even Capcom themselves put them into their games since at least RE2 Remake.

I DID like oblivion, that's my whole point, I still have fond memories of it now. But with the benefit of hindsight I can see how clearly the decisions that were tolerated in oblivion directly led to the fucking travesty that was Starfield.
Even in the days of oblivion Bethseda decided to focus more on ugly high fidelity graphics, motion capture, copy paste content, and ridiculous NPC control systems that basically have the same gameplay as a scripted NPC, just worse and more annoying. They also added level scaling and gear scaling, two systems which to this day are about the worst thing you can add to any game. And then they decided a final battle where you stand 100ft away and watch the character you stopped giving a fuck about as soon as you left the tutorial become a kaiju and do a power rangers fight scene.
There is a lot of fun to be had with oblivion, provided you work around the games obvious and glaring flaws, and what that basically led to is Bethseda doubling down on all those flaws. @@DanielAPSama

In regards to your other question, I have not played DD 1 or 2, I heard good things about 1, never got around to it. Was somewhat interested in 2 until I saw the system requirements (not a total deal breaker but I don't like games that demand really high end machines), performance issues (I have tolerated games that have them before, but I am picky and expect fairly quick fixes, I will also not typically buy on launch if there's any news of this kind of thing), then I saw the price point (around $120 for me) which would normally mean I pick it up on sale if it seemed good enough, but add in MTX in a non online, non multiplayer game and I'm basically out for good. Add to that it's asking real money for consumables to boot, and it's an absolute noob trap as well and I probably wouldn't play the game if it was gifted to me tbh.
I can understand that people would think I'm missing out, or being too picky or whatever, but from my perspective there are so many amazing games on offer that don't require massive moral compromise or mental gymnastics to justify that even if this game is a literal blowjob machine I just don't think I want much to do with it.
I don't agree with people just jumping on the hate train because it's the in thing to do so, but I do think the game does deserve a lot of the criticism it's gotten, even in spite of it's high quality immersive gameplay for pretty much the exact reasons I went over in my oblivion comments.

So I'm not understanding why you're upset with the game at all anymore. The micro transactions shouldn't be an issue because the currency is earned completely free and the items have no impact on the game at all. Personally i think it's dumb, but it's not enough to sway someone from buying the game. Just say the game is too expensive and stop using micro transactions as a scapegoat. For 16 whole minutes you complained about micro transactions and even justified it to some degree with f2p games when they're way more predatory about the transactions. Why is it wrong for dragons dogma 2 to have Micro transactions, but it's ok for f2p games that prey off peoples addictions with flashy cosmetics and rng chest for potentially top tier characters or loot. Also this video really showed that you haven't played any type of capcom game because they always have some form of micro transactions in their game and it has literally no affect on the overall experience of any game they produce. I could understand your plea if you said the optimization was the main issue alone, but in all honesty the game is fine besides the poor performance. If its too expensive then do either 2 things

My "highest price" that I would pay for a game is 2$/hour of fun, this game is was worth the money weeks ago already and I can see miself playing it for the next couple of years in between other games.

The game is absolutely solid. Those micro transactions aren't anything new btw. Original game had the same. But they're not p2w at all. Not even close. And at no point I felt like they were forcing me to buy them. In the meantime we have ubishaft, a studio that shoves the store in your face on start up..
These Capcom mtx are a publisher thing.

This is a video I felt I should make myself, glad to see someone is already doing it.
I came out of a 5 year live service hiatus to support helldivers 2 because I saw that it was doing something unique, and daring, in a way that I found fair and reasonable, I'm enjoying it immensely and would probably love a continuation of the franchise. But, the same second I see dogma 2 shit hit anything I love, Dark souls, Elden ring, helldivers, Valhiem, Hollow Knight, I resolve to be out, and to ward off as many people as I can on my way. We've already seen what letting the line slip does. We have no choice but to be firm, patient, and exacting customers with strong principles if we ever want things to improve.

All these self righteous idiots crying about capcom and all of this stuff without even playing the game...
I can run it at 50+ FPS with an RTX 2060 and i7 on high settings
All of the microtransactions are stuff you can get in-game already, very easily, too. People are so stupid.

this is why you only have 10 thousand subscribers. dragons dogma is not a true single player game. your pawn gets stored on a capcom server and people can play with your pawn and send you items. capcom has been doing this in every game for over a decade and you just now decide to get upset. the first dragons dogma which came out 12 years ago also has micro transactions. you have no clue what youre talking about and you dont know anything about the game. your life must be exhausting.

lol. You are so far off the mark. Your whataboutism is pathetic. Dragon's Dogma 2 is way out of line. It's wrong. It's a test to see what they can get away with. And any gamer who buys into Dragon's Dogma 2 is the kind of human trash that enables crooked corporations to get away with far too much. The same kind of people who allow corruption to fester and take over.
