We have Gambel's quail here in Arizona. Such cool birds to watch. You always see a male and female pair crossing the road together. The male has the dark red to brown markings on its head while the female has a dark grey and black speckled pattern to her feathers. The sounds they make are funny to listen to. Get a bunch together and it sounds like total mayhem.

I like quails. Always have i think their very pretty birds. They can be a lil annoying for farmers but. There quite beautiful lil birds. I can call these birds over to me. I use to spend a lot of time outside amoung them n learned their diffrent cues to each other through hawk eye watching them
You can train them but people rarely try as bird poop doesn't smell and is usually pretty easy to clean up. I know someone with a pet pigeon that he trained to poop over the edge of the toilet seat, mostly for the entertainment value
