Ellie Kildunne's first try was something special. It's great to see the Red Roses playing again and it's just a shame the match wasn't shown on terrestrial television.
"It's only women playing a man's sport, no-one wants to watch that." - TV Bosses, apparently.
It's thanks mainly to the BBC that I've been able to watch all of the matches involving the Red Roses for the past five years, that is up until this warm-up game against Canada, and what with ITV televising last year's women's World Cup I think we can safely say that the former idiotic attitude of TV bosses towards women's rugby and women's sport in general is thankfully a thing of the past.
Well done, Red Roses! Darn sight more entertaining than the men.

Ellie Kildunne and Helena Rowland were both amazing yesterday. Hopefully this is a sign the new management are going to allow the players to do what they do best out on the pitch.
John Mitchell has a reputation as a coach who runs his regime like a dictatorship. He does not have a good name in NZ rugby.
That sounds ominous. I was concerned that he didn't seem to stay anywhere very long, perhaps that is why.
@@coredump27 John Mitchell is despised for, among other things, tinkering with unnecessary selections like playing the best fullback of all time in the centres suddenly at the Rugby World Cup. He was also extremely arrogant and petulant with media, and saw himself as a bit of a guru. Quite an unpleasant demeanor. He has got to have a friend in high places in England rugby to get this job. He hasn't even coached women before. When I heard this announcement I smiled. The talent at his disposal may be enough to continue winning most games, but his man management skills are nothing to Simon Middletons. He doesn't know the players or the nuances of coaching woman players. And his men's coaching record ain't the best. He didn't last long with the All Blacks. Of all the coaches England could have chosen, they choose fkn up himself, kicked out of New Zealand rugby, prickly John Mitchell. Good luck with this guy geezer. You're gonna need it.
Oh great! He did seem a strange choice at the time, given the other options. Doubtless, as you say, he has got connections in high places.

The title "Highlights: Red Roses v Canada" is misleading; it should be "Tries: Red Roses v Canada"
@@coredump27 Typical of "highlights" reels - obviously put together by people who don't understand what rugby fans want to see. Often it's just "here's somebody crossing the try line" and "here's somebody else". Also, here's a penalty kick, without any understanding of why it was given or how we got there. Even a missed kick can be exciting if the context is right.
