In antiquity, much of the Tiber trade took place here, and the remains of broken clay vessels (amphorae) were stacked creating the artificial Testaccio hill, which today is a source of much archaeological evidence as to the history of ancient everyday Roman life. The portion of the rione, inside the Aurelian Walls, is born as a residential extension of the productive area, housing the laborers of the several industries that arose at the end of 19th century by the side of Via Ostiense.

Beatiful tranquility. Looking at the ruins of the ancient Roman Empire and the World War l war memorial, among the chirping of birds in the peaceful groves, one only hopes that a new war or, ultimately, a Third World War will not come.
Also very symbolic is the ancient sarcophagus converted into a fountain and the monument dedicated to the amphorae of Testaccio and the ancient Roman Empire, in general.
The ancient population of Rome woul be almost half of what it has today.

Io sono napoletano e mio padre é di Testaccio. Quando ha sposato mia madre per venire a vivere a Napoli ha dato in affitto la sua casa natale. Praticamente non l'ho mai vista e la cosa mi fa rabbia. Se un giorno lasceranno quella casa ci andrò a vivere.

J'ai bien aimé cette nouvelle vidéo qui m'a permis de découvrir un autre quartier de Rome...
S'il s'agit d'un secteur résidentiel, j'ai quand même l'impression qu'il reste populaire. Ces grands ensembles d'immeubles avec leurs cours intérieures sont très bien construits avec style.
Comme je suis fan de cinéma italien, j'y fais souvent référence: ce type d'habitat me fait penser au décor du film "Una giornata particolare" avec Sofia Loren et Marcello Mastroianni mais en mieux. Ce grand immeuble et cette cour dans laquelle les habitants se retrouvent et partent voir et entendre leur leader Mussolini. Très beau film 😗...
Je n'ai pas été surpris de découvrir cette "Place des amphores" située dans cet endroit. Sans doute un hommage rendu aux millions d'amphores brisées et jetées pèle-mêle sur ce qui finira par former ce"Monte del Testaccio" découvert dans une de vos précédentes vidéos...
J'espère qu'il ne fait pas trop chaud à Rome, en France c'est horrible ☀️🌡️😡!... encore merci et à bientôt...
Excellent observateur Pierre, en effet ces édifices vont de la fin du XIXe siècle à l'après-guerre et beaucoup se souviennent de ces films d'époque italiens. En effet, le charme du quartier réside aussi dans cette ambiance populaire d'antan. 🙂 Quant aux températures ici à Rome c'est terrible, en quelques jours nous avons touché les 40 degrés.. 🥴 on espère que ça va baisser. @@RomanoImperoTv le periferie romane sono spettacolari per il verde ,mancanza di buche,edifici dipinti.piste ciclabili. Comunque è vero che odiano la raggi e i 5 stelle chi ha il potere e quindi l informazione, città migliorata
