So crazy to think how well SOI has done these past few years. I remember going to Ben’s apartment and hearing hollow prophet before it was released, being at the first SOI show in hartford, his previous band In Depths And Tides playing at a venue I used to run and talking about his sick halo tat. Dude worked his ass off and it payed off.

@@allhailthecore3136 look, I was not trying to slam dunk on the guy. I am a native russian speaker myself, so when I listen to him talk I can hear him literally translating russian sentences into english words, thus making his use of english phrasing/grammar come off as an afterthought. I just think it'd be a dull and awkward video at best. Props to him for getting better over last year though.
You should invite Travis Ryan, Will Ramos, Austin Dickey, Guillaume Villeneuve, Alex Terrible, Dane Evans, Josh Davies and a whole lot more insane vocalists next time! Really love this kind of reaction, we learn a lot from other vocalists' perspective and lifestyle. Can't wait!

Pretty wild that Ben isn't very happy with his Reclaimer performance. I will say that he sounds way more clean, especially in his lows, on Melancholy and onward, much more clear and refined, but Reclaimer is still one of my favorite albums ever and it cemented Ben as my favorite extreme metal vocalist.
His best work.... My God his best work..
I would tend to agree with him that the tones of his vocals have gotten better over the years, which is pretty usually for extreme metal vocalists, but to hear him pulling stunts like he did on Reclaimer (even just a little bit) with his new tone and confidence would be so fucking sick
I adore reclaimer, but I immediately noticed how much more clear his voice was on Melancholy. He's so good I didn't realized he was being hindered at all. Amazing.
he's said that about Primordial too which is mind-boggling, personally Primordial and Reclaimer are my favorite albums by them and both perfect in their own right. His vocals were also much more diverse then.

Ben seems so humble and down to earth! Not that I ever thought he wouldn’t be, but it’s just refreshing to see how real and sort of awkward (not that it’s a bad thing) he is. I’m the same way! It’s nice to know how much of a history buff he is and I’m super excited to delve into this record.
I’m actually surprised that with this explanation video I really enjoyed the song more than the first time I listened. It’s like I didn’t really catch all the nuance and things going on and now that I’ve watched this it’s easier to take it all in and appreciate what’s going on. So fucking cool. Ben is amazing at what he does! He was a child hoof friend and I remember when he first started going towards metal and how he use to practice through school! His journey has been incredible and I’m amazed that I know him!

Thanks for this video. I'm from Ukraine and I was very happy to hear that this song has something to do with my story. This is one of my favorite songs. And now I realize that the lyrics in this song are kind of prophetic when I hear the words "When will these fucking wars end?". Because it's happening again in my country. The day this song came out, I asked for you to do a reaction to it. To have Ben on..is the only time I've ever watched something that is an hour long on CZcams. I'm so excited to see them next month, and again in February...truly they are the best band out right now, and Ben is a different league than most other vocalists. @@KardavoxAcademy just throwing it out there. I think you should check out the newest Signs of the Swarm video, Hymns Ov Invocation. I know you're not necessarily a fan of what they used to be, neither was I, but their new album is quite phenomenal. They broke away from that slam crap they were doing and went more melodic. Also David Simonich is quite a stellar vocalist...much better than CJ...

im a deathcore listener main, but i do vocals for other genres of music nowhere near what i listen to, but ive been able to distort my vocals and layer them in ways that makes me sound unlike myself, all thanks to you mark.
