I don't think he played significantly better if you factor in that Burrow pretty much had to get rid of the ball within a couple seconds every time because of the o-line. Watch the amount of time each QB had to make a play.
It was a great performance given the circumstances by Mahomes though, so don't want to discredit it.

That Cheifs' O Line deserves more credit for the protection they gave Mahomes, as well as Andy Reid and Eric Bieniemy for the play calling, and that Cheifs' D Line for getting after Burrow. Mahomes executed his job well but so did others. If one of those other elements don't do well, the Chiefs lose this game...it was an all around effort
A rare realistic football comment. I think pundits are just lazy. The offenses weren’t spectacular last night. It’s almost as if Reid and Bieniemy found a way to make their immobile QB effective. This was a complete team win for the Chiefs.

Honestly that last run by Mahomes reminded me of Brett Favre in the Vikings Saints NFC Championship game. Dude was not 100%, but you could tell, he was going to do everything he could to get the win, and the only way he is leaving that game/field is if you kill the man, cause that is what it would take. When it mattered most Mahomes didn't care about his well being, he ran that ball to give his team the best chance he could (not knowing there would be a penalty), which would give them a long field goal chance. Mad respect. Don't have to be a Chiefs fan to love this guy.

Give Chris Jones and the O-line credit. The first half, the o-line was perfect and the Bengals did find ways to get to Mahomes here and there in the 2nd half but it was all with reasonable amount of time generated apart from the 2nd 3rd and 9 they got where Eli Apple got them a first down despite the defense just demolishing the o-line for once and getting to Mahomes instantly. And Chris Jones was the reason they won this game. Pressure after pressure along with the play of the game sacking Burrow in a critical 3rd down forcing them to punt
