Cover your ears when it's windy. Noise is tiring. There are infinium hats that go under a helmet. If you're out all day take a spare pair of gloves (maybe socks too). It's better to pick a damp day that is warmer than a sunny day that is cold in the dark when doing really long rides.
I don't know about the UK, but I think the hardest is like around 10c and Sunny. So you burn up and sweat in your gabba, then freeze when you ride in shady areas.

I live in the center of the USA Our winters are in the -20 From 32 F - 29C to 0 C With a snow accumulation of 26 inches 0.66 meters with winds from 10 mph 16 k to 40 mph 64 kph. No green grass or green leaves on the trees, instead white ground and dried grass. My suggestion when giving needed kit for riding instead of giving the season give the temperature range and weather conditions instead. English winter riding conditions may be Spring riding clothing needed in another part of the world.
Also, given poor drivers, a MAJOR consideration is color: My Castelli kit always goes for the brightest colors, such as yellow and red, no matter the weather.
Agree, so black or grey like in the video is the worst you can actually do ... already bad in summer but in dark season it should be avoided at all costs. The reflective parts only helps when cars have headlights on (e.g. at night) but is not adding to the safety on grey rainy or winter days. Rear lights and bright colorful jersey/jacket is a must for me all year around.
I have a mix of Decathlon and Castelli kit. Most days I'm reaching for the Decathlon stuff, it's brilliant for the price. But I do have an older Castelli Gabba jacket which is just perfect.
Castelli make clothing for every condition, just make sure you know their range well! If you don't know their range well, it's easy to purchase a different piece that basically does the same thing! Don't forget Sportful own Castelli, and do 'shadow' kit to Castelli, and tend to be discounted considerably more. Some of the Sportful kit I own is better quality than Castelli! Nano Flex is pretty useless after about 10 minutes of light rain. I end up using something like Altura over shorts for added protection. For UK cold weather, Sopasso bibs are the Dog's nuts, with Polare being the ultimate for very low single and sub zero conditions! For cold dry conditions, Velocissimo jacket constructed with Infinium 203 is king, warmer than my Alpha 2, although not as water resistant.
Castelli might be good, but try getting something to _actually_ fit when you become a toby jug!! come on guys... how about decent winter kit for the fat lads at the back??
Castelli disappointed me anytime, but they do great marketing on CZcams. When Castelli teils you it‘s useful down to -5 degrees, you can hope that it doesn’t freezes you even at 8 or 10 degrees plus. Castelli, similar to Assos, has no idea how to create really good winter gear which Matches with their pricing.
The scenery in the video looks like a early autumn to me, pretty far from an actual winter. Then again, where I live, I don't ride a road bike in winter - too much of a chance of getting stuck in snow or falling over on ice.

Castelli gear is absolutely the best, but can be a challenge getting the fit right if you're a bit bigger and muscular.
Assos is on the same level, they have their own materials and the Mille GT line is more forgiving

C'mon now... Castelli paid handsomely for its staggeringly skinny and expensive stuff to be showcased without comparison...
I have the Perfetto jacket, and vest. Jacket pockets get soaking wet from sweat during ride, not sure why.

Merrino Wool socks thick ones with picture sheep on .... Water resistance so no need for silly overshoes!
Put the ******!# mud guards on ! Kind to you and other riders .... It's a no brainer!

never put your phone in kit. arm warmers and good wind vest when cool, GABBA when cold with propper base.
