Okay well I just checked on dictionary ,com and most of the pronunciation says "nich", but the scientific definition has both 'nich' and 'neesh' ... so that's a thing.

@StaggersTheDog Honestly if enough people say a word in a different way than it was intended, then that pronunciation also becomes legitimate. That is how languages evolve and why we have different languages/dialects. Look at how many borrowed words there are in Japanese that sound hardly anything like their English counterparts.

@joe80dmanizanerd Not everyone is capable of regularly reading the BBC, The Economist, various science journals, ect. Phil takes interesting and important stories from around the world and makes them accesible to essentially everyone. Not only that, he provides a link to each story he covers for further reading if one so desires. Anybody making current events accessible to the masses is good in my books - keep using cynicism as your primary world view.

I agree that that is a legitimate point. However I've only ever heard Americans pronounce the word that way, and I don't believe it's significant enough to be considered part of a regional dialect or the evolution of language. It's not even like it's being anglicized. Frankly that pronunciation sounds bad and distracts from the actual content of the speech.

@joe80dmanizanerd i mean that phil is my only news source figuratively speaking. I know some other events just from word of mouth and ill see the front page when the newspaper is on the counter, but i dont go out of my way or read papers for news other than phil more often than not. I'm only 15, thats no excuse, but I simply dont have a passion to always know what is going on in the world, stupid is as stupid does is the phrase that works all too much.
