    Hey Kyle if you have enough space to do so, when putting the pin back into the peg, take a screw driver and push it in from the bottom to hold the peg in place against the spring wanting to push it out. Then, just pull it out while pushing the pin down and it will keep everything in place. Let the pin chase the screw driver. Love your videos man.

    Nice tip for making the job a little easier is to cable tie the spring in the compressed position before removing it, that way reassembly takes a fraction of the time.
    Let us know how well those warp 9's last.

      shabsZA and the cable tie doesn't break? Cool trick if I can make that work!

    Thank you for your how to video. I have never installed a foot peg before and your video helped me install mine on my new Beta yesterday. I do hate that spring...and since I'm not muscular like you, I just used a couple of allen wrenches. I used one smaller allen wrench and inserted through the opening where the pin would enter...the smaller sized wrench would give me leverage to align the holes. Then I would insert a larger allen wrench on the opposite side as I guided the smaller wrench out at the same time. I then inserted the pin in the proper side as I guided the larger allen wrench out...and boom...done.

    I've never broken a foot Peg and I've been riding for 23 years off and on. I've also never had aluminum footpegs and that's probably why.

      I've been riding since 1983 with some gaps in there as well and I've never broke a foot peg but I ride more motocross style than enduro. Enduro riders put themselves in a lot more situations where breaking a peg might occur. But I bought a used bike with Tusk pegs on them and while I love Tusk products these pegs are so dam sharp. One of the 1st times I kick started my bike my boot hit the peg and ripped like an inch of the sole of my boot. Putting a pair of stock pegs on my bike today. I don't race so I don't need all that boot grip.

    Hey Bud, I am trying to install the ACERBIS foot pegs on a CRF70 for my son. What a pain in the ass with the springs. Watching you, I noticed the small end off the spring goes inside the peg which I though was the way also, but the guy I bought it from said it sits on top. I tried both way and still having issues. I will try again when I get home, but gave up a few times. I can build a whole Bike, but can't figure these Pegs out. LOL...Thanks

  • @mhgregor
    @mhgregor Před 8 lety +5

    If you install the pin the wrong way around (like you accidentally did at the beginning) with the cotter pin at the top and front of the peg, it's less likely to get damaged by rocks etc and the cotter pin is also easier to remove in the future...and a touch of grease never hurts ;)

    Another thing you could do is use a screwdriver to line the footpeg up and pin it in and then as you slide the pin in slide the screwdriver out.. Imo just a friendly tip if you struggle with the footpeg :)

    very nice video, one thing I recommend to all viewers is to stay AWAY from tusk perches. they're super cheap. I cracked one when tightening the lever down once. around 8 foot pounds cracked it.

    If you replace the cotter pin every time you could cut the bent parts off. It would save some time getting them out.

    • @DirtBikeChannel
      @DirtBikeChannel  Před 9 lety +1

      Tory Wilson Not a bad idea. The only issue is that the cotter pins tend to like to bend right by the pin they are going through, so they need to be straightened there to be pulled out of the hole they are in. Either way, new cotter pins each time save you from a lot of headache, you know?

    So I've have been looking all over on how to send you a message, but I cant find out how, so I'll just post a comment and see if you get it. I just bought a KTM 300 XCW six days edition 2014, its a sweet bike but I'm still getting used to it and learning it. I used to ride CRF 450's. I actually went with this bike due to your videos about them, and other research and studying. I wanted to tell you that I live pretty close to you, well used to i just moved from Saratoga down to Mona Utah, I work for Saratoga Springs Fire Dept part time though so I'm there quite a bit. I actually can tell where you live about just from your videos. I wanted to write you and possibly go riding with you guys, I'm always looking for more people to ride with, when your older with kids and families not all your buddies have bikes anymore. Hopefully this doesn't sound crazy. Either write me back by replying or I guess I could put my email that wold better than my phone number on a public site, its elderlargo@hotmail.com, my name is Spencer Long. By the way great channel and great videos I've watched them all, learned a lot.

    Is it bad if you put a little engine oil to lubricate the pin so it goes in a bit easier?

    • @DirtBikeChannel
      @DirtBikeChannel  Před 8 lety

      +shogrran No, that would be fine. It would attract dirt, but nothing a pressure washer wouldn't wash off.
