Do not, I repeat, DO NOT just take a spoonful of Horseradish and eat it đđ
I was thinking that's probably not a good idea. lol
@@reactingtomyroots If you taste horseradish on it's own, you'll probably wonder why anyone would put it it on their food. But as a compliment to roast beef, it's great. Just don't use too much! It won't be a taste you'll be used to. You'll need to acquire it.
@@reactingtomyroots The same goes for the English mustard - it is very strong. Don't put as much on as your bland USA stuff.
Aww yous ruined it. Was hoping they would just dive in đ
Go easy on the Colman's mustard. It's not the mustard you're used to at all!! lol It will blow your nostrils! Lovely on a ham sandwich though...very thinly spread for me! So many generous people out there! I'm a Brit living in Michigan and it pleases my heart to see so many of my fellow country people being so generous and entertaining. (and it makes me somewhat homesick :( )
Beat me to it lol, or we could of not told them and laughed when they tried it!
I concur, definitely go easy on the English Mustard! Lol.
There is an American lady on TikTok and FB I follow that makes food. She was sent a jar of Colman's English Mustard and was told in her comments by her British friends to go easy with it.
When it came time to try it a few days later, she commented that she'd been warned by her friend from the UK, but she "LOVES" yellow mustard, and she'll be fine!
She took a slice of white US bread, which is smaller and sweeter than ours in the UK. She did not butter it as we would normally do, she just put two large teaspoons of EM on one slice of bread, then two small slices of turkey on it, and went for it!
To say that EVERY person that's ever eaten it, or knows about it, were already invested from the moment she poohoo'd it, and put the Mustard on the bread. By the time she went for a bite, and with her having already warned, we were alternatively cringing and gleefully laughing at what we knew was about to happen! And Fate didn't disappoint us at all!
To say that the mustard did its job, is an understatement!
You'll be pleased to know that her nasal sinuses and tear ducts are in FULL working order, and have been effectively washed through! And her ability to contort her facial muscles into a variety of different expressions!
But, I'll give her her due, despite this rooky mistake, she did go back again and finish the half sandwich. đ
Afterwards, bless her, she commented that she should have listened to her friends and that she mistakenly thought EM was like your yellow burger mustard out there. Which she now clearly knows it's clearly not!
And yet, despite this, she said it has a nice flavour, and her husband was going to LOVE this!
My brother and I could only wonder if that was what she was like with the jarred version. What would she be like with the Colman's English Mustard powder? Especially the stuff our uncle would make up for us at Xmas! He said that all he used was the powder and malt vinegar, but it would blow even our sinuses out! đ And my brothers would happily be able to eat CEM from the jar! We've all tried to make it like he did, but to no avail. Sadly, I guess it's something he took with him.
So be careful with it! đ
@@timberwolf5211 Would love to of watched that!
Thanks for the tip! Hope you're able to make it back across the pond for at least a visit in the near future--I know it's hard being away from your homeland.
@timberwolf5211
Using vinegar will actually kill a lot of the heat. Simply use just enough water(or beer also worksđ) to form a paste and then let it mature in the fridge for at least a couple of hours. That ought to clear out your sinuses and make the backs of your eyeballs sweat!!
If you've never read Terry Pratchett you have just opened up a world of joy!
Definitely!!
Iâm glad someone sent some Pratchett
Sir Terry Pratchett was one of the greatest literary treasures who gave us some amazing tales.
Iâll be mogadored if more doesnât turn up.
Iâm in my 40s and still relish his Discworld stories.
His outlook and characters are fantastic
Def a writer who left us too early
I`m just about to read `Nation` again ,Terry said he felt this was his best novel
I was gonna send Steve some Whole Earth crunchy peanut
It really is the best.
Iâm weird though, I enjoy it on bread with a strong cheddar
Although possibly Iâve invested a new combo flavour
First I came across Terry Prachett was discworld games on sega Saturn in mid 90s. It was funny and made me appreciate good reading and comedy
@@AzuraeLyonheart I forgot about the games. Discworld and Discworld Noir. I think I remember Eric Idolâs voice in the first game. Had them for the PlayStation bone
Cried my eyes out the day they announced Sir Terry had died, it felt like I lost my favourite uncle.
Flakes are top-tier chocolate. Crumb alert: Do not eat in your car whilst wearing a white shirt, just prior to going into a meeting! Ask me how I know.

Ohh - the Jamaica Ginger Cake is AWESOME - hot custard!!!
Over it with custard also just some butter spread on. It never lasts long in our house
Or alternatively, zap the Ginger Cake in the microwave and have it hot with vanilla ice cream. I prefer it like this in the summertime, hot custard is better when it's colder weather.
@@obijon7441 I've got ice cream :)
Terry Pratchett ( RIP ) is in my opinion one of the greatest Authors of our time. I have every book and have had the privilege to meet him several times.
Truckers , Diggers and Wings ( the book you have been gifted in its three separate books ) is a great start for kids to be introduced to Pratchett's works.
Id add that anyone who loves good writing , good humour will find Pratchett's books to be worthy of your bookshelves. I defy anyone to just read one and not read all of the others, its just not possible.
Yep all of the books and companions. I have some of Paul Kidby's brilliant Discworld Art.
You should set the big Ben clock to Londons time đ
Great idea. I think we'll do that.
Only use a bit of English mustard is a lot hotter than American mustard
I usually put it in Mashed Potatoes for Bangers and Mash. no more than a table spoon between four people, otherwise it knocks your socks off
Good to know! Probably would have made a mistake on that one đ

Colmans mustard is like American mustard on steroids! And Horseradish is used as the basis for mass produced Wasabi. Forewarned is forearmed. đ
The three books in the trilogy are Truckers, Diggers and Wings. They are hilarious
Good Omans is drop down funny.
I also love the Truckers, Diggers and Wings books. I bought the all separately in paperback with the wonderful artwork of Josh Kirby. Sir Terry also wrote many books for young children (of all ages) and books for teens. I started with Wyrd Sisters from the Discworld series around the age of 12, I was hooked.

That is Children in needs bear called Pudsey bear. It is a charity fundraiser held every year in the U.K. on the BBC. to raise money for children.
The English mustard is extremely hot. Great used sparingly in a ham or cheese sandwich, especially a toastie. It goes well in a cheese sauce(about 1/4-1/2 a teaspoon) in a pint of béchamel based cheese sauce with strong cheddar.
Welcome to the fantastic world of Terry Pratchett.
The Discworld series is the best only 41 Books, starting with The Colour of Magic followed by The Light Fantastic. They are all a Tongue in Cheek look at the Sword & Sorcery genre. I've been a TP fan for many years.
The younger readers series is a great introduction to TP for all ages.
Enjoy. đ§đŒââïž
I canât remember, does that include the science of discworld books?
Terry is a fantasy writer, who was an amazing wordsmith with a plethora of characters including the likes of Cohen the Barbarian (OAP) who needs din-chewers (false teeth) and often puts his back out. Nanny Ogg (one of a trio of witches) who has a cat which likes to play with & terrify bulls, she also has issues spelling Banana (she keeps forgetting where to stop the ana).
Tuc biscuits are addictive. Love them but can't have them in the house đ
Terry Pratchett rules. I love the city watch books (and all the ones with death in).
Steve go easy with the Colemans Mustard, it is stronger than American Mustard and will make your nose run if you put to much on. Horseradish is also something to use sparingly.
I was just about to say the exact same thing đ Our palates are not as bland as people think đ They are both quite hot!
Liver Bird is pronounce Lie-Ver Bird. it is the emblem of Liverpool. there are statues of the birds on top of the Liver building there. it is also on the crest of the Liverpool football club.
The two Liver birds are meant to be a male and female pair, with local legend stating that the female bird looks out at sea, making sure the seamen return to the city safely, while the male guards the city to watch over the seamen's families.
Legend says that if they flew away the city would cease to exsist.
And you can do a Liverbird Safari in town too. It's probably the most anarchic family walking tour of the city going!
I was going to write that but i said I'd look in the comments first to see if anyone else had done it.
You're such a great family and so easy to watch. I love the way Linsey reads the labels on everything.

Terry Pratchett's books are amazing, 3 books 3 days easy , enjoy
Pratchett is amazing, it`s fantasy, with humour.
When you live on a Cold, Wet and Windy Island, Hot Chocolate is an essential after Tea of course.
Just the tip of the mustard on a knife, less is more,
Jamaican Ginger pudding is best served in an ocean of hot vanilla custard. Microwave the cake for 2 mins.

The Whole Earth Peanut Butter is my favourite - I've always got a jar in my cupboard.
If you can try the KP peanut butter, itâs one of the best Iâve ever had.
@@jessieb7290 Both the Whole Earth and the KP peanut butters contain sea salt... and the Whole Earth one also contains palm oil (not good for the environment due to land being cleared to grow the palms). The Lidls do tubs for a fiver!
Beware the English mustard. Our friends from Washington DC put it on a hot dog like French's and it blew their heads off. The Horseradish sauce is slightly hot, great on a beef sandwich or steak, a little kick to it.
Yeah American mustard is sweet and English mustard is more like the spice itself, so it could improve a cold if your sick probably. Itâs so strong.
This trilogy I read years ago itâs brilliant honestly, I hope it will catch little ones imagination. He wrote a complete world of books, which are very funny which is called the Disk World. There are witches, incompetent police, a street food seller called âcut me own throat Diblaâ, baby dragons and one big one plus a character called Death with a scythe and a flying white horse called âBinkyâ . Usually eaten as a compliment to roast beef, go easy on the horseradish until you become used to it, as it's quite strong.

@@jessieb7290 Just try a little, it's really nice once you get used to it. I don't think it's as strong as English Mustard đđ

The Isle of Wight is roughly rhomboid shaped, standing on a corner. North of the island is the port of Southampton. Geographically the island splits the tides in Southampton, instead of two tides a day the island gives Southampton four tides making the port a historic port. These days apart from commercial traffic itâs the cruise hub of the UK. Traditionally the home port of the great transatlantic liners. The Solent is one of the straits between the island and the mainland, the other strait is the Spithead.
The Isle of Wight is roughly 150 square miles in area. The town of Newport is the capital. Plenty of beaches such as Sandown, Shanklin, Yarmouth. The south west corner, facing the English Channel and the Atlantic is the Needles, a formation of rocks with a protective lighthouse. You can get a chairlift down to the beach. The town of Cowes is probably the centre for yachting in the UK, prestigious yachting club territory. Ferries from many ports on the mainland, car and passenger plus of course the hovercraft. There used to be a rail network but these days has about 15 miles of line powered mainly by ex-London tube equipment. From Ryde Pier to Sandown. I used to get the ferry from Portsmouth/Southsea to Ryde.
I worked on the isle of wight ferries for almost 4 years .
The chair lifts are at Alum Bay. You can fill glass bottles with coloured sand. X
