I like how the game often gives you random choices to attack people in dialogue, for no other reason that it makes for a good comedic punch in the moment. Despite the fact that there is no actual reason to do so, and it will almost certainly cause you to fail whatever quest you're doing.
Because Obsidian knows how to make a proper role playing game, if you wanna turn the courier into a violent psychopath you can do that, unlike Bethesda who forces you into a character role
something disgusting i was forced to witness was after i talked to vulpes inculta in nipton, i went to the mojave outpost and talked to sgt. kilborn. what haunts me is that you have an option to attack him and yell “AVE CAESAR!”. its such a small thing but i got so much second hand embarrassment just at the prospect of picking that option. just typing it is giving me heart palpitations.

They probably should have placed him 40 meters away in order to give him a chance of even doing damage along with some goons aiding him.
I haven't gotten through the whole video, but I'm willing to bet that the option to send that girl the boomer guy has a crush on to her death is on here. That option was especially f**ked up.

I remember when I did am NCR run, I had Veronica to skip the majority of BoS, only to realize I had to kill then at the end, so naturally I went on a tear and killed everyone while Veronica helplessly watched. And at the end she literally looked at me and called me a heartless bastard while crying. It broke my heart when I shot her head off with an anti material rifle.
Something so brutal about what the Courier says to Comm Officer Lenk at 24:19 . Her response kinda just reinforces the fact that she's just broken and doesn't have the nerve to fight.
Fallout New Vegas, a game that allows you to kill everything in the game and also shows you the repercussions of your actions. Also you can commit the most terrible things and have the choice to do so, which is the important philosophy of the game. You have choices, pick one and live with it. Having the option to being an evil bastard (and I mean fucking EVIL) speaks even more volumes if the player chooses a different approach. And I say different approach because almost every decision you make is valid because of the excellent painstakingly world building a group of passionate writers committed themselves to. All so people can experience deeper meanings of the human psyche and philosophy of human nature and it’s deep morbidity. Fallout 4: “Essential NPC has fallen unconscious.” :(
Typical Bethesda, because YES they did handle the recording of the game dialogue still, and they’re useless studios and actors often ended up recording the wrong dialogue for the wrong characters.
People's viewpoint on my Courier "Yeah, he was a decent soul. He helped everyone around him! He did everything peacefully!... except that one time he shot a war memorial and called a man and his deceased brother a little bitch."
Same thing with mine but with "And he also blew up that rocket with all those ghoul cultists...and he also helped the Powder Gangers take over Goodsprings...and he also killed a boy and framed his dad for murder.
Out of all these interactions, the one mocking 10 of Spades (16:29) and ED-E (44:14) are the most impactful. The rest range between "that's neat," "haha, good one," or "didn't know that was an option." Also, there are other interactions not shown in this video, such as speaking with an NCR soldier and have the dialog option of [pull out the pin of his belt-mounted grenade] (or something to that effect), or doing the Run Goodsprings Run quest, which involves killing the town that had just patched you up at the start of the game, or the quest Beyond the Beef, where the player has multiple options to screw around.
Idk, making fun of 10 is a haha good one for me, how is harmlessly poking fun at his speech impediment more impactful than convincing a dude to shoot himself, or a woman to accidentally shoot her own mom

Any time I've played as an evil dude, I usually did it as a kill-everything psychopath. I never considered playing as a sociopathic asshole. In all my several hundreds of hours in the game, I haven't seen a lot of these.
You know, I was thinking of actually playing the most evil courier possible. But all of these evil options are too mean to me. I could never choose any of them.

I remember when I did am NCR run, I had Veronica to skip the majority of BoS, only to realize I had to kill then at the end, so naturally I went on a tear and killed everyone while Veronica helplessly watched. And at the end she literally looked at me and called me a heartless bastard while crying. It broke my heart when I shot her head off with an anti material rifle.

Fallout New Vegas, a game that allows you to kill everything in the game and also shows you the repercussions of your actions. Also you can commit the most terrible things and have the choice to do so, which is the important philosophy of the game. You have choices, pick one and live with it. Having the option to being an evil bastard (and I mean fucking EVIL) speaks even more volumes if the player chooses a different approach.
And I say different approach because almost every decision you make is valid because of the excellent painstakingly world building a group of passionate writers committed themselves to. All so people can experience deeper meanings of the human psyche and philosophy of human nature and it’s deep morbidity.

Out of all these interactions, the one mocking 10 of Spades (16:29) and ED-E (44:14) are the most impactful. The rest range between "that's neat," "haha, good one," or "didn't know that was an option."
Also, there are other interactions not shown in this video, such as speaking with an NCR soldier and have the dialog option of [pull out the pin of his belt-mounted grenade] (or something to that effect), or doing the Run Goodsprings Run quest, which involves killing the town that had just patched you up at the start of the game, or the quest Beyond the Beef, where the player has multiple options to screw around.
The one at 4:57 is the most impactful one to me. Even with all his faults, Houses pure terror and the way he says it sends a chill down my spine.

I mean, the self-destruct authorization terminal right beside the actual self-destruct terminal shows how much the BoS cares for survival
To be fair, if youre going to have a self destruct mechanism in your base it really doesnt matter where you put it. Its not like getting the keycards is necessarily easy too.
Any time I've played as an evil dude, I usually did it as a kill-everything psychopath. I never considered playing as a sociopathic asshole. In all my several hundreds of hours in the game, I haven't seen a lot of these.
It's a testament to great RPG design in how much of a psycho you can be in this game. The Grecks part was my favourite lol
