- A quick flight from Wycombe Air Park over to Elstree in the updated JustFlight Piper Warrior II in Microsoft Flight Simulator - primarily to look at the aircraft, and to see how well it flies now.
We're NOT following correct procedures in this video, before anybody jumps on me about it - just functionally trying things out in the cockpit, exploring the functionality, and having some fun.

My first aircraft I fell in love with in MSFS 2020! Went everywhere in that thing!
It's fantastic.
you have just reminded me of my very first Cherokee 140 flight at the start of my PPL - 51 years ago - this month
all that was missing was my TMPFISCH checks before Take off🙂
I'll get there - I was just talking to a friend about mnemonics the other day :) Seriously though - as soon as I get far enough along with the Cessna 152 training sessions I'll move on to some low wing flights and some proper procedures. I may even have a video about the various mnemonics.
Just a few comments... the Warrior is not the "baby" of the family, this distinction going to the Cherokee 140, same engine but different wing. The wing of the Warrior is a piece of art, generating an incredible amount of lift and being responsible for the Warrior's reputation of being a floater. The 140 drops out of the sky, the Warrior floats and floats and floats... It is also not necessary to use flaps on takeoff, unless the runway is really short. I don't believe I ever did. The Archer's interest is more power, but the Warrior is much more fun to fly! This said, I had no GPS, no autopilot, flew mostly by following AM radio stations on the ADF. Oh, and paper charts of course! This was at the end of the ´70s... 😎
I also remember those good times in the Warrior yes indeed.
I meant the baby of the family that JustFlight have built :) I read an interesting article a while back about the design of the wing - I believe a book tells the story somewhere - with notes from the test pilots at the time. It was fascinating to read about the rationale behind the root extensions, the tapered tips, and so on.
Just flight are the worst so this is meaningless.
Awsome review I loved flying these when they previously not bugged. Glad to see just flight is still supporting these aircraft. One small thing I’d like to see in your future flights is calling your flaps up and down sometimes you miss it I think it would help with the realism aspect of your videos and appreciate all the new efforts your making towards educating yourself and the folks who watch like me.
I'll try to remember to call everything out :)
It's cool to be able to fly these again ...
Jon, I noticed that the ADF did eventually point to the NDB. I think 433 is the frequency that the ADF receiver is expecting. Honestly in the US I have never seen a decimal in an NDB frequency. Also just a reminder that every 30 minutes, you should put the fuel pump on and switch fuel tanks.
Yeah - it serves me right really for not looking properly at the pilot operating handbook (although saying that, the documentation you get with the plane doesn't go into *that* much detail about operation of all the hardware).
My first plane from Just Flight ❤ Also the Arrows Three, with its turbo. very nice still. Cool video 🎉 Slainte 👍
Love the tablet changes! Thanks for the vid! I’ve been hoping that they would update these 😊
You're welcome :)
This is my local and where i do my PPL,EGTR haha, awesome video!
20:32 I appreciate that you took time to geek out on Harry Potter for a minute. 😁
another great video! Thank you so much.
You're welcome :)
I got an email from JustFlight the other day about updates to the PA-28 also. I guess I will have to install the update and give it a spin again. Love these planes. Great to fly.
The really are great :)
Re your elephant woods - On the way up the M74 from Carlisle to Glasgow there's a forested area on the right side shaped like a huge cock and balls. Apparently the land owner had a big sense of humour and cut down the woods accordingly. It's in Biggar and the woods have been called Treenis. Maybe worth a flyover in future episodes.
Hahahaha
Awesome vid. about the ADF, you have to setup a shortcut in control options for ADF frequency fractions, and just blindly press it for the amount of tenths you need. you can tell if it works because a decimal point appears at the end of the number. Thanks for the great content.
Thanks for the info!
I like how you test planes out. I have the bundle which I purchased in the Marketplace so I guess I'll have to wait for the update. Osobo said this process should be speeded up since the last update. I noticed your simbrief worked. In the BAe146, I can't get it to work since I bought a new computer. Once I get the update here, I'll see if simbrief will load. Also, Justflight has an altitude hold (love that) if you press the area to the right of the autopilot. It's not in the real plane but a nice touch for simmers.
Somebody else just told me about the altitude hold :)
Nice flight. Thank you.
You're welcome :)
I'm currently training in this plane in IRL, will be picking this up in MSFS, thanks.
It would be great if JF could add the glass cockpit build. My son will be learning on this IRL later this year, but the planes have all been upgraded to G1000s. The GNS 530 is great, but it’s no G1000.
FYI, there is an altitude hold simulated, by clicking the small white button above the test indicator. I also believe there is a Vs mode, see release notes.
Great to know! I'm not sure how I feel about hidden click-spots like that - giving aircraft features they probably didn't have. It's like some of the other aircraft where clicking on specific screw heads causes things to happen :)
@@jonbeckett I'm not sure how I feel about it either, but overall the avionics are vastly improved over where things were a year ago, so no complaints on my part.
Alnwick Castle in Northumbria for all stuff Harry Potter too. Fantastic castle and area to visit. Alnwick Gardens so good for kids.
Yes - we've been to Alnwick :) Ran around the lawns like idiots pretending to be on broomsticks :)
I think I did see the ADF needle move shortly after you put the frequency in.
I should be more patient :)
Actually I just saw on the Justflight page that the ADF does have support for fractional frequencies.
That's good :)
The stutter has been much worse since SU12. Great video..I love these birds
I'm not so sure - I think they've changed the way aircraft are loaded in. If you remove static aircraft, it doesn't happen.
@@jonbeckett thanks I’ll take a look at that
I got the game played it once but now I’m flying as a student pilot in this plane it makes me want to redownload msfs to fly in it
I'm very excited by this update. JustFlight keep proving to be a fantastic developer and a worthy investment in the long run. Thank you for a great review video!
You're welcome :)
+1 for the ice cream vans 🍨👍
I think all airfields should have them :)
Yes a very good small aircraft for VFR flying!
Personally i have a problem with the GNS530, any of the flightplan created on the World map from the menu doesn't load/is displayed on it!
Don't know if it comes from a bug of the addon or other ...
Anyway +1 👍🏻 for the video!
I think it can depend on the aircraft - if they have implemented that or not. Or if you have the working title mod installed or not.
@@jonbeckett I checked in the content manager and I have 2 files that concern GNS 430/530, and both are up to date. The addon is also up to date.
Maybe yes they haven't implemented this feature (how convenient in itself!).
Have a nice day!
I’ve noticed how hard it is to trim now. Were you able to figure it out? They put a trim adjustment slider but I couldn’t see it doing anything. Before the update it was my favorite ga plane. Now not so sure. Thoughts?
I had no problem with it - once in level flight at a stable speed it was easy to trim. The realism updates that have happened recently have changed the game :)
I bought this plane because it's the plane I trained in and fly most often IRL. Can't help but feel like the controls are too sluggish.
is there no autopilot in any of the Just flight Piper's?
What are your rudder settings for the piper warrior bc when I put it into max power on takeoff it would swerl from left to right aggressive and I had to input max rudder to 'stablize it' when it barely helped
Yep - you have to stamp on the rudder, depending on how aggressively you open the throttle. It's caused (in the real world) by a number of factors.
@@jonbeckett so I have to try to match my rudder foot pressure to the throttle? I don’t know if this would work because every time I tried it would go aggressively left and right
IMO the warrior is the best out of the Cherokee series. Also the airplane I got my license on... so I am partial to it.
Biased :)
Just got my ppl in the warrior. Great aircraft 👍🏻
Why did they replece the egt gauge with the starter's alerter?
Not sure - I'll have a look next time I'm in the sim.
Doesn’t she have a hidden alt hold mode hidden under the yoke or is that the other just flight pipers?
There is - I didn't know about it either :)
What are your graphic settings?
Is there still a tendency to roll left without a co-pilot or have they fixed it?
Not noticed it rolling.
Since this update, I’m having issues with the rudder. As soon as I start moving on the ground, I have to hold pretty much full left rudder in order to keep it straight. Once in the air, it’s worse. Any thoughts?
Not had that issue. Make sure you don't have any other axis mapped in your control profiles that might interact with it.
@@jonbeckett it’s the only plane I have that does it and it started doing it after I updated:(
I have the same problem with this plane, as well as it being virtually impossible to trim. First plane I have regretted purchasing from justflight.
Updated since...? I have received no notification from simmarket about an update until now...
They were updated today. I haven't seen any updates for them for at least 18 months.
Other stores as is normally the case will be delayed a bit after the devs own. The updates are on Just Flight’s own site for people who bought it there.
@@jonbeckett oh good heavens that means I have to wait for the msn store then no upate in me warrior yet as of today
@@mikecoffee100 Same here, I only bought this aircraft a week or two ago. I was confused if I already have the updated model but I don't have the extra goodies on the tablet so I guess I have an older version.
@@paulthurston2883 We want goodies toooo
I am somewhere in the middle with my opinion on this aircraft. Nice enough to fly as a GA aircraft in the sim I just find it a little boring personally. The 30 pounds I paid for this sometime back is not excessive but seeing what other developers are offering these days in a similar price range I feel Justflight is somewhat lagging behind. Good to see them issuing these updates though and still consider them a decent company to buy from.
I kind of agree. It's been handily beaten by the Black Square aircraft in terms of systems modelling - but if you're not worried about that, it's still great fun.
@@jonbeckett Forgot to say and has to be said Just flight did nail the sounds though.
Hello guy, do you know if this aircraft is equiped with an autopilot ? NAV/HDG/ALT/VS ?
It has a basic autopilot that can do heading hold - it's at the bottom left of the cockpit.
@@jonbeckett the auto pilot can Also maintain altitude ?
@@jeas5484 No - you need to trim the aircraft out. It's accurate to the real thing.
Thanks my friend
I've had no pilot figures in any of the PA-28's, internally or externally, since the previous update last year. Does anybody else have the same issue, or better still a solution?
This update fixes that.
@@jonbeckett - It didn't for me, unfortunately.
@@otterspocket2826 That's odd - I'm sitting in the Turbo Arrow right now, and it's working perfectly - the tablet controls if you can see the co-pilot from inside, and you can see the pilot and co-pilot from the outside too.
On my Just Flight Piper Arrow when I flip the NAV / GPS toggle it freaks out and rapidly toggles between NAV and GPS and I have to fiddle with it for a while before I can settle it down. Anyone else encounter this anomaly? This also happens when press the NAV / GPS button on the GPS unit as well.
Not happening here. Have you updated it ? Do you have a control mapped to it that's conflicting with your choice ?
@@jonbeckett could be conflicting key map. I'll look into that. Thanks!
Unfortunately nothing mapped from keyboard, mouse, or joystick for GPS/NAV select. Maybe I'll make a video of the anomaly and post it so folks can see what is going on and perhaps assist. Very strange issue.
I don't get the comment about the needles not moving after start? Thats what they look like in the real airplane. Oil Pressure shouldn't change too much. Temp will take time to come up.
That's all I was referring to - the temp not budging - I subsequently ran the engine at high RPM for a while, and of course the oil temp started to move :)
oh oh please may I have the route info please I want to see the Harry Potter studios . Since you are getting more into it with I beleive is Pooley ( sorry if typo ) I have a Notam ( not sure if they have Notams in the UK ) for you they will not allow the usage of these old radios in the UK :) Yes the climb rate is abit high but the aircraft very much flies like the real thing since I have a few hours in a Warrior . :) well me dad did but I did most of the flying and he did all the math work and communications. ( Notam ) Notice to all airmen ( USA) but apprently they now say Notice to all air missions or something like that.
Remember I emptied the aircraft and pulled half the fuel out - which explains the climb rate :)
@@jonbeckett ohhh clever :)
Strange, for me the flaps don't work at all
First! :D
Numpty :)
Did you say pretty much study level? Now I know you got these for free and can't be trusted. Sorry but the just flight aircraft are shockingly bad, don't lie.
I bought them. Study level is a subjective term :)
@@jonbeckett I got mine for free and I still don't like it, haha. I bought the A2A though. Worth every penny, a masterpiece so maybe I'm just spoiled by it.
Still no update in the marketplace. Not good enough when you've paid good money for something.
The marketplace has had a several week delay since MSFS launched.
@@jonbeckett I might think twice before making any more purchases through marketplace.
