Reason people say you get same workout on an ebike is you climb the mountain more times.
Or just go for a longer ride.
I thought the same as you years ago, now I have two ebikes 😂😂

I honestly can’t be assed riding that much for a training day 😂
Im more then happy feeling destroyed after 12ks 400m of climbing 😅 - for training/fitness days)
However for fun rides I’d still prefer the nimbleness of my bike, this is something I’m learning more and more overtime tbh

I ordered a merida e160, the main reason behind it is i am pushing 50 and my knees dont like the push up hills as much as they did when i was yonger (misbegotten youth has caught up with me). If i keeps me on a bike for longer than i am all for it.

I can see the appeal of ebikes and would probably buy one if I won the lottery for huge rides like HVAP. But right now, i can comfortably ride 20km within 2h so i dont feel the need for one. I'm stoked that they allow more people to ride that couldn't otherwise. Also cool that some of my friends own one because not many people can/want to ride 20km with just a few brief stops.
