I'm back... and almost certainly going to be in trouble soon!

- Fly an RC plane or a drone and you're considered to be a criminal these days. Well I guess I might as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb, as they say.
Here's an update on the situation here and what my plans for the future are.

Thats how one sided unfair remote id is, pick on a tiny group of citizens and demand only their cameras will be tracked and not just by federal agencies but by intire general public, thats my 2cents worth, like anybody cares, thanks bluce for my chance to holler
I’m with you here in Australia where the rules are similarly idiotic, and safe non-compliance is the only way
A couple of weeks ago, northern Perth suburbs, we had a total ban on all model aircraft.
The fire bombers were flying very low over the house going to Lake Joondalup for water. 😊
Sometimes there is a good reason for controlling.
@@chuckmaddison2924 In this situation, I completely agree for the purpose of the temporary "control". Most people wouldn't even fuss about holding off flying to make sure those low flying aircraft can do their thing putting out fires, saving forests and peoples homes uninterrupted. The global over regulation that is happening is not comparable to your example. Bruce can fly safely at the moment but is severely regulated and controlled for no reason whatsoever even though he poses no risk to people, other aircraft or property.
World is broken.
@morphd82 Some people did put their drones up, which pissed the emergency services off, so they put it on the news not to fly.
The bombers were so low the windows and ceiling got a good shake.
@@chuckmaddison2924 There will always be people who are going to no matter what the rules. You will probably find that those who were putting drones up would have done so in any case. The vast majority don't need the petty rules to recognise dangers.
Now THIS is the xjet that we all know and love. The man that doesnt back down in the face of adversity. This is inspiring and confidence-raising and gives me hope. BLAZE THE WAY Bruce!
Keep up the good fight, Bruce.
Non-compliance is something I've been practising (safely) when flying my RC planes.
Same. Living rural , way out in the wop wops helps.
Been racing rc things 30 years. Still have them all. Frid. In the mountains
@@Jonno-5Likewise. My farm, my valley, my life.
Bruce, thank you for all your efforts. This hobby is better for having you.
Looking good Bruce...... Great to see you back with such an exemplary fighting spirit!
Im in the UK......... Spending most of my free time now riding my bike rather than flying.
Sick to the back teeth of constantly looking over my shoulder each time i fly feeling like a criminal.
Ive always flown by the two rules you speak of plus another i feel is important.
Dont endanger people
Dont endanger property
And respect people's reasonable right to privacy.
I fly sub 250 and do so safely.
But these stupid regulations and over reach definitely robs me of the joy i once had.....
Wait until they come for your bike.
@@minigpracing3068licence and registration please.
I was getting REALLY worried. I'm so glad your still here
Hi Bruce! The world needs people like you, in general most are real stupid or just don't use their brains. Why focus on these small questions, there's so many big ones that's needs to be solved. Keep on with the good work 🙂
As a champion of freedom for drone and RC pilots, the hobby needs you Bruce. Good to have you back. Fly the drone/RC plane, enjoy the hobby and really irritate the council and CAA.
Jerry
Bruce. I am glad ya picked yourself up.
"Good on ya"
Keep up the good fight.
I'm jealous because Bruce is outside with just a T-shirt 😂
I occasionally have birds flying into my house. They need to regulate those little fluffy bastards 😂
I agree with your position. When regulators make regulations which are overly restrictive the only choice we have is to ignore the regulators while still flying safely.
I had every faith in you dude I knew you'd be back ❤ 👍🏼😎👍🏼🏴
Keep it up Bruce! Non-compliance, in a safe and responsible manner, is sadly where we come at. I've been flying RC planes since I was a kid. Building my own and learning about basic aerodynamics by trial and error. I did not start with drones before 2018. It's definitively a good and healthy activity for both young and old minds.
All rc modelling, but aero especially is such a powerfull stem tool, and has only been, iirc, ever been directly responsible for 2 fatalities, whist providing thousands of people a fantastic way to have fun, whilst also real education of things that are useful to society. Pilots, designers, engineers, etc. This global tyranny needs stomping out, before we're checking each others chains.......
Bruce. You're a lovely Guy and you take the time, despite your health problems, to protect 'our' interests. Thanks so much. I wish you good health and best wishes to you and yours. xxxx
Great to see you bruce. You look great in this video.
"I'm just heading where the hobby is headed" Nailed it, Bruce. The whole hobby is becoming non-compliant with a few exceptions. I'm ahead of the curve I guess.
I'm convinced that what they're really afraid of is cameras, specifically where the operator can't go in person.
hit the nail on the head. I've often found myself wondering who the regulation is for 250g is still plenty of weight to do some damage if public safety was your primary concern, and there is technically no real physical restriction on where you can fly with remoteID and i highly doubt the range would be good enough for any sort of plane to be able to react to. Outside of a weird snitching system for karens i can't think of any other use for it, and we all know drone delivery isn't going to happen anytime soon unless we have a serious brake through with battery tech. To me it seems like this regulation was meant more so for camera drones, like DJI which they then decided should apply to everything that could potentially be in the air with very little after thought.
THE MAIN MAN OF ANY RC MODEL FLYING AND THE REASON I FLY SAFE ON MY OWN. LOVE YOU BRUCE 😍 KEEP STRONG WE ARE ALL BEHIND YOU ❤❤❤❤
Good to see your health is back to a better level.
Glad to see you again. Looking much better and happier than last time. Keep this sparred. Happy safe flying.
Congrats on your Comeback. Welcome to the dark side of the hobby, We would have missed your videos. Ever since the FAA and CAA got involved in this Hobby we knew that the days were numbered. I had made my mind up that I was never going to register. But I will never ly in a dangerous way. Thanks for the video and info on your comeback.
I am an RC flyer in the UK and I weep for these regulations. I spent my working career as a Copper and I know how difficult it is to enforce the laws we have at present; let alone the crap legislation they keep introducing to ruin the hobby! Bad laws are the norm at the moment.
Not just hard to enforce. A lot of people will probably not even know they are breaking the rules, no one expects flying a toy to be illegal unless they're following this sort of stuff.
@@Qwarzz That, and there is often no logic behind the rules at all. Like at some spots you'd be allowed to throw a ball or a frisbee, but not fly a 20g Mobula 6, that won't hit nearly as hard.
@@rc-fannl7364I'm also pretty sure frisbees have caused way more injuries to passerbys than drones. Drones after all are controlled why dics will often home on people by themselves :)
@@Qwarzz Indeed, people are frisbee magnets, mostly the head and the shins have the biggest "attraction" for these flying menaces. But no one would even dare suggest to have these registered, or fitted with remote ID. The first person to suggest that would become laughing stock. But heaven forbid someone flies a foam plane or tiny whoop...
Great to see you back Bruce. Looking so much better in mind and body!
Glad you are feeling better! Just sitting here working on my APD. Planning on checking my cows with it tomorrow FPV. In the middle of nowhere. Hope the cows don’t report me.
Having flown model craft of all types from the age of 12, and now being the ripe old age of 86, I think I have some knowledge of safety without thousands of regulations. I carry on as usual, and take a lot of no notice😁
Nice to have you back. The hobby is just better (and safer) when you participate Bruce. I was thinking about you just a couple days ago. I was flying my quad about 100 feet above my property. I was thinking in March I must put a $100 remote ID module on my quad because it's over 250 grams. Right at that moment, three paramotors were operating right across the road above the state land. It made me chuckle that those manned aircraft will not be required to have RID but my little toy will. I'm still shaking my head. No logic here in the USA either 4🦊sake.
Good to see you again Bruce! Ya rebel!!
All the very best from Ireland.
Great stuff Bruce, I too fly whenever I feel compelled to do so, providing it’s safe in terms of property and people. We are taking up the reigns of safety because the regulators clearly aren’t interested in real safety. It’s nice to see you in good spirits mate. 😊
You are an inspiration, Bruce. Great to see you back in the saddle and if you could send some of that lovely weather to the UK, I would really appreciate it.
Keep up the good work and great to have you in our corner..
Great to see you back Bruce, look forward to seeing your jet engine projects! as person with long term disability life can be awful sometimes stay well and take care
Thought that you had passed away without letting us know....nice to see you upright.. I have been doing what you are now preaching for years... fly safely and competently .. never been challenged yet.
GREAT news!!!!!
Thanks Bruce for NOT "abandoning" us!!!!
You are the head od the hobbie! We can NOT lose you.
With love, Machado
Hi Bruce. I am so glad you are back, feeling better and exercising. Happy flying !
It's great to see you back, Bruce! 💪✊
At this stage, safe & responsible non-compliance seems to be the way forward. I haven't flown for many years, but "I'll be back!" 😆
Glad to see you back and with a positive attitude, no pun intended.
Happy dayz, youve made an englishman very happy. Good too see you more upbeat
Keep up the good work, Bruce!!!
Nice to see you again Bruce. 👍👍👍👍
Glad to see you're back and want to sincerely thank you for all you do.
Great to see you back Bruce. Non-compliance has always been the way for FPV and has been practiced by most of us for years now. Who out there only flies with 25mW, always has a spotter, and never flies BVLOS because it's naughty? Remote ID and blah blah blah is just more of the same. Fly in a sensible place away from Karens and just ignore their rules.
He's back! Yeah! Really glad you've come through the last few weeks Bruce and have a bounce in your step again. Look forward to your new videos! 🎉
Careful mate, by flying above the drag racing, you will spread the air pollution with the drone's propellers!! Keep it safe mate! Love the shoutout to Rotorgeeks, Dave and the crew are awesome!😉
I knew you'd see sense Bruce. Fly safely and enjoy the hobby that you personally have brought many people to.
I'm so happy to see this video Bruce! Not only have you decided they can't keep you down but today is the day you stand side by side with Botgrinder on noncompliance. Fuck the FAA and anyone else who tries to tell us we can't fly!
Hello Bruce, nice to see you back on the channel. Good to hear you are exercising and feeling better, also really liked the last few shots you took at the end. We have to stick it to them anyway we can.
Glad your feeling better Bruce, and doubly glad you didn't let them take the hobby from you. Keep flying and stay safe.
When flying, I am equipped with eyes for detecting objects, and trained thumbs for avoidance, so that is compliance! Following your example for attitude to rules that make no sense. Big thank you for leading the way!
It's great to see you back, Bruce! I hope everything goes your way! 😊
But, damn... I can't travel for one weekend without the internet turning upside down! 😬
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
And happy holidays!
We love you Xjet! Thank you for all you do for us and the hobby, we need you!!! Much love always!
Does anyone else remember RCModelReviews ZMR250 build tutorials? Man times have changed since those exciting days.
Good to see your head again. Don’t forget to also let down Johns tires.
Glad you are back. I find that you speak the truth and that people don't like when you show them the errors they make. You are an inspiration to all of us that love and enjoy the hobby. I hope you enjoy every flight you get.
Good on ya Mate!I’m with you 100 percent . I’m about to start my 85th year in 2 weeks time and will follow your example .
Great to hear Bruce, keep flying like the rest of us!🎉
move over bot grinder we got a new badass in town. keep it up Bruce
lovely to see you mate
Good to hear your up for the challenge sir.
I figured that your are just as important to this hobbie as Botgrinder, so I'm now signed up on Patreon for you too.
Have a great day, enjoy your Summer as I start my Winter up here in Western Canada.
Welcome to the "unregistered flyers club" Bruce! Just don't be a problem or risk other people's safety and in general people won't bother you, just like in the old times.
Nice one Bruce, glad you're back and keep up the great work in showung how the regulators are oppressing our hobby without good valid reason! 👍
Good job becoming active again! Pre Co-V I was super active, cycling thousands of miles per year. Then during the Co-pocalypse I became very inactive. The last couple months I've been hitting the gym about 3 days a week and I too am feeling so much better. Keep it up!
I live in the UK. I have done a lot of aeromodelling over the years. Now I'm retired living in a particularly flat part of the country, and I will be building a thermal soarer for the summer. The UK regulators can 'do one' as far as I'm concerned and I won't be joining any clubs, paying any money to anyone, or taking any stupid courses. As Mel Gibson famously said "FREEDOM". 😊
I’m glad you’re back, along with your rebel spirit.
50meter rolls of solid weed mat makes for perfect runways..Can be installed on any flat piece of ground..ANYWHERE.
Really glad to see you again, it’s been bothering me wondering if we would see you again. literally made my day. Love the last 15 seconds of your talk.
Hey, in a lot of countries, the drone rules don't apply indoors and... underground! You've unlocked the puzzle to Bruce!
Keep going nice to see you back. From Brian w.germany
Glad to see you back and up for a fight Bruce! Idiotic rules are made to be broken. Here in the UK (as you mention) we are going to be in a similar situation to fliers in the USA when CAA have their way and introduce remote ID and further flying restrictions. I have replied to their "consultation" (which is no more than a tick-box exercise so they can say they have sought viewed and "listened") and expressed my frank views.
Glad to see you smiling again ! ❤ (Still haven' t got an answer from your district 😂). Fly my friend, fly !!
You're an absolute trooper Bruce.
We love you like crazy for what you do for the hobby, even if we can't always be bothered to speak up*. (Unfortunately).
But I know for damn sure, I wouldn't want to live in a world without heroes. Greetings from 2.5hrs away 🙂
👍
"Here I am! I'm back!" It gave me gousebumps!!!!
One of the best things that I've heard on youtube this Year!
Love fom Germany!
I love that you are taking a stand and just doing what you love! Keep making great content!❤
Hi, Bruce, I want to thank you for all of your videos. I have learned a lot from your advice. I live in Southern California in the US. I am lucky to find a club only 20 miles from my home. It is a FRIA site so some of our county's FAA rules don't apply to our club.
I especially enjoyed your design of the Outlaw 250. I built a few of them and they certainly were fun. Because I wasn't worried about being sub-250, I took your idea and modified it significantly. I stretched the wingspan to 30 inches, the chord to 7 inches, and eliminated the elevated tail and elevator assembly. In place of the suspended rear tailplane, the elevator is in line with the lower skin of the front wing. Also, the area behind the front wing is solid instead of being open all the way to the elevator. I don't have a spotter all the time, so I made the plane a tractor configuration. With all of these changes, I was worried how it would perform. I made a chuck glider and the results were quite unexpected. I put a single landing gear wheel in front and threw it into the air. Instead of stalling and lifting the nose, it flew perfectly! The reason that was surprising is that the cg in this setup is at 4 inches from the leading edge of the front wing. It might be due to the fact that I incorporated a "true" KFM airfoil on the front wing instead of just adding a single thickness of foamboard to the wing. I built a test plane and gave it to a friend for evaluation, and its performance is amazing! Thank you for all of your wisdom and commentary, I always enjoy reading what you have to say.
Great to hear of your success and I wish you much more in the days/years to come. Thanks for the kind words too!
If you can't find a wide open space in NZ....?....Try finding one here in the UK, our overcrowded, stuffed little Island, full of the uninvited....and Fun Police...🙄😳🇬🇧
You're a legend in your field..........we are all thankful and grateful for your advice and knowledge in this hobby. Glad to have ya back mate. From Australia 🇦🇺
Welcome back Bruce. So happy here in Sebastian Florida..
Happy you're back and in better spirits and health Sir Bruce ! Do Not go softly into the dark night...Kick, Scratch and Bite Every inch of the way ! You da Man !
Welcome back to amateur "civil aviation". Great attitude, with safety as the priority while enjoying flying. Such a great example that follows centuries of pragmatic aviation.
Stay healthy, stay safe, have fun! ♥😎👍
Keep doing as much as you can for as long as you can, and I'll keep clicking on it! I'm in the process now of thinning out the model collection that I've been amassing over the years. There just isn't enough time left in the hobby for me to build them all, so somebody should be enjoying them while they can.
This is great news and good to hear well done Bruce.
The more non-compliance will actually help to change the current ridiculous rules.
A channel about your exercise routines will be a success also! think about it! hehe. Good luck with this new approach, i hope you don´t get in troubles! best wishes BRUCE!
This is great, Bruce is finally living the breaking bad story arc! Glad to hear you sounding more chipper.
In the time I've lived in this house in a remote part of northern Finland, I have seen 2 aircraft from our property. The 1st was an Otter flying off the lake across the road from us, the other was an RAF R135 seen just yesterday. We are about 40km north from the regional airport, all flights to and from the airport fly southerly routes. The same rules apply to me as to someone living in Helsinki.
This is an absolute delight to see Bruce :). The only comment I will make is to quote something a friend said recently "Well, following these changes my Legal flights will continue to be Legal' :D
Good for you mate😊
I've patreoned you dude ,don't give up ,your the voice of us all !❤
Well now I am looking forward to seeing bits of Tokoroa that I have not already seen.... Good on you Bruce. And excellent news on your continued good health.
Heck yeah Bruce, welcome back! So glad you are back in the fight. Never stop the RC!
Thank you for your great videos and standing up for the cause. As a pilot of aircraft big and small, there is nobody I'd rather share the airspace with.
Just had to chime in…totally brilliant end run around the airfield restriction! Go and have a good time filming! You’ve encouraged me to keep flying ‘til they come for me. For a guy w/Parkinson’s you look amazingly fit - keep on keeping on!
Bruce “safe but non compliance” Simpson. Keep it up!
Good to see you back up and running Bruce. Agree 100%. None of this is about safety. It's about making the job of airspace management easy for the authorities with the VTOL and drone delivery operations envisaged for the future. The hobby of RC models has been brushed aside and regarded as a much lower priority by governments around the world. So here we are in 2023. We have rules designed for a different world to the one we live in. They might be called safety rules if the skies were full of flying things, but the reality is, they are not.
Glad you are feeling better, good on you for unlocking the shackles.
Great video, and welcome back. Not so sure about the blazing a trail part, since many of us reached the same conclusion and have been flying 'under the radar' for years now. 😇
Bruce Glad you have found a way to Circumvent the ISSUE 👍👍👍 new you wouldn't stay down for long
Good for you, Bruce. Keep being passionate and stay active. You're my granddad's age, and he has Parkinson as well. Senior softball to not being able to get off the couch. Whatever you're doing, keep it up. I have MS, and this hobby has helped me a lot. They didn't want me in my local parks but I continued to fly there anyways. I fly alone and away from people. The park rangers now just drive by and even wave sometimes. No more harassing
We ALL LOVE YOU, Bruce. ALL of us!!
So happy you're back Bruce. All the best my man, stay safe
Not to many people actually do respect the hobby and I appreciate that you do! This have me goose bumps lol
The BBC had a problem flying below the radar whem filming in caves. The drone software whould not work below ground level!! The had to get a "secret code" to unlock the software. Keep up the good work
