A couple of years ago I started praying a prayer before I go into the gym. The prayer is that "God would allow me to serve Him with longevity not held back by bodily injury accidents, sickness or disease" because I know it's The Lord that keeps us but we have a duty to take care of this body He gave us.

I feel for people who struggle with weight because I struggle with mine. It is painful and humiliating, and that shame and humiliation is a driving force for staying in the cycle of overeating. Gluttony is clearly a sin, and I have always acknowledged that in my Christian life, and it can be seen as the "acceptable" sin in America. I just want to note that the only way I've had success is when I have hope and I believe things can get better. If I feel ugly, ashamed, humiliated, and worthless then I have no strength within me to overcome; I just want to escape the world. Another thing I want to note is that gluttony is often a response to trauma or loneliness, so the person struggling with gluttony needs support addressing more than just the eating habits.

Her leg/hip muscles felt completely drawed up, but we live in the country & have a garden.. just bending every day, picking up sticks, etc. The body heals itself by the 2nd month of being serious about it she had full mobility!
I'm always stiff the 1st month after winter (since my lovely 40s hit) you just have to do it!!
I don't care if you are picking up a/1 loaded down laundry basket and putting it down picking it right back up just to get the motion of bending picking up... your body will stretch out!!

The reason people are becoming intolerant to day dairy is because we've been drinking milk from the wrong cow. Most dairy farms raise Holstein cows (the white and black ones) and that milk isn't good for human consumption. That's why the government started regulating milk and forcing it to be pasteurized. We've switched over to Raw Jersey cow milk and won't ever look back. Everyone I know that can't handle dairy, when they drink raw Jersey cow milk, have no issues at all. Look into it. Again, it's all profit driven and government regulated.

My goal was not to lose weight but I started replacing my drinking time (when I would normally drink..after work/weekends) with going to the gym or running (started w/swimming then walking).
Then the weight started falling off as the weeks went on, and my energy, mood, stress levels ALL improved naturally. Then the exercise became a habit before I even noticed. I don’t talk about it openly at AA because other people take it personally but I try to tell them to replace their addiction with a healthy habit.

Some sins are more visible than others. I am 72 and my body fat has been under 10% for years. In my late 20’s and 30’s I ran 10ks, marathons an triathlons and did resistance training. I have never struggled with weight issues. Now I have CIDP and cannot ride my bike 200 mi a week like I did 2 years ago and am still under 10% but have to struggle with sin as much as those who are overweight.
1Ti 4:8 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
Don’t be so fast to judge a book by it’s cover.
Also, you cannot predict what you will look like by the time you are my age. I thought that I would be a runner into my 70s but it did not work out that way.
By the way thank God we WILL get another body.

    • @STak-ju7gx
      @STak-ju7gx Před 6 měsíci

It's good you're sharing your own experience, but I'll just put it out there, not everyone is overweight because of gluttony. Just because someone is overweight doesn't mean they are living in some kind of sin that is manifesting in their weight.
Everyone should take care of themselves to the best of their ability and God knows each one. But I feel this testimony might give ammunition to the group of people who engage in endless churchyard judgements to start judging people for sinning just by looking at them and their weight.
More times than not, Christian workers actually get sick and overweight from a misguided approach to handling the body and veiwing self care as vanity. Many are chronically sleep deprived, are not exercising, and lack knowledge when it comes to good nutrition because they might actually consider focusing on things like this as vanity. People hate to see the truth which is obesity is complex. If a person is struggling with weight and still has sleep deprivation, the weight will likely go nowhere even with diet and exercise.
Also, America has a very insidious weight problem, and Americans refuse to acknowledge it due to extreme individualism, which will rather blame every and all things on personal responsibility that acknowledge the existence of a systemic issue. The stories of people coming here, not changing anything, and ballooning in the scale are endless. The stories of people going on vacation elsewhere, not changing much of what they do and yet dropping pounds, are also endless, but many Americans still refuse to acknowledge that even with what is supposed to be healthy food, there is a problem with how it is produced and what is in it that is causing many to increasingly gain weight and making it harder to maintain a normal weight that people elsewhere. Hardly anyone else in other countries are as obsessed with weight as Americans are, yet they still have the most problems and associated depression with it. I'm not crapping on America btw, I love it here, but this is just pointing out a fact. There is something off with the food supply, and people should not use annoying tictoc positivity caricatures to deflect from a real and present problem. There is something systematically wrong and perhaps it's time to look into why those who banned certian things from products and food supply fare better than those who did not.

I've heard in some Christian circles that grounding is more of a new age practice dealing with the earths energy. Has anyone else heard this view?

Hello there ex pagan and yes grounding and its terminology is a “new age/old age “ practice. I do often however believe Jesus and Christian’s has their own form of meditation and “centering” within the Holy Spirit and the word. You can go out and pray in nature as Jesus did and speak with the Holy Spirit. I guess mostly we have to remember there is nothing new under the sun. The devil will always mimick what God has already done. So just need to be sure in ourselves about how we engage with the Holy Spirit and is it biblical.

Mocking people for any reason or under any pretense is simply not on. Fat people (pastors included) struggle hugely with all kinds of complexes and pains. Your taunting is not helpful or edifying at all. You can say many of these important things in a way that is kind and loving. I don’t think our Lord Jesus would hurt people with his words, as you have done here. It could have been a great podcast

The gym isn't always a good thing, but eating healthier and not indulging in nasty habits is a must when it comes to taking care of your temple... For those who workout I would test you to workout at home or privately if possible and if not possible, try and go to a gym with zero mirrors. That will help to keep self idolatry out of your heart. I’ve never heard anyone say KJV is the worst translation ever.
I exclusively use KJV, because the other translations don’t measure up. Not only that but Strong’s concordance accounts for the words in the KJV.

At 1st I tried to read the 1968 KJV but couldn't understand the thee's & thou's. After reading 7 other English versions & going back to KJV, I realized how different it reads to Bible's printed after 1968. While I was finally able to understand what I read, it also showed me the edits made to the Word of God by the hand of man. Even the chapter headings show who the Suffering Servant is & it's NOT Jesus. Between the KJV & The Hebrew Bible (by Robert Alter), my heart is settled & I have forgiven the writer's of other Bibles in order to see the Word as it was originally intended. Or at least "close enough".

Yet I was 50 lbs overweight eating pizza and drinking liquor, even eating less calories then now. People will eat major caloric deficits and be packing on weight.

And you mention the whole hustle culture foolishness which celebrates money over health. And I can testify that a lack of sleep will make you drink lots of Coca Cola which I admit that I love.....but haven't touched any soda at all for the last 3 months. Afterwards, he had 10,000+ freckles on his back, when prior to that date ZERO freckles!! And the freckles are still there today 😂

Pastor Kennedy dropped a major bar in response to being a "fat pastor". Our eyes and heart are deceitful, and we don't see everything. Men especially are guilty of this since we struggle with pornography more than woman. If we could only see how deep the darkness we wouldn't be so quick to judge. Because we are both seeing these two issues with our eyes but from a human perspective not Godly.

When I went to Liberia where food is scarce for many in that country. That was true in Europe as well. I wonder with all the fast food companies opening up stores overseas if is that still true in Europe.

I have the healthiest diet I can imagine. Grass fed meats, veggies, fermented foods etc. Our microbiome can be easily influenced by stress and sometimes stress that is put on us from the outside world. I thought this message was short sided. A lot of humans are being thrown into a more difficult world and without proper upbringing it can be near impossible to navigate this fallen landscape. It is clear that there are some depths of compassion for others that can only be reached through experiencing suffering oneself.

Most people that struggle with weight know all of these things. I have obsessed about weight for years. Hundreds of videos, countless "life change" lifestyles, diets. No matter how many times we circulate this material, people never seem to understand what is actually going on. How can someone go from eating clean, working out obsessively to suddenly everything changes, again, over and over. No matter how motivated you are, no matter how hard you try, your brain can literally take over and think whatever it wants for the sake of survival. No matter how motivated you are. You are trapped in a biologically driven body in that sense. No one seems to want to find an answer for this. Most people know what to do to be healthy and most people desperately want that. I'm slightly overweight, was a college football player, was active my whole life. I can only imagine this struggle for someone who has never had an athletic background but instead has in shape people so grossly ignorant about what they are struggling with, tell them that it's a choice of "sin". The bible says to not judge and the words used seem to be particularly important, so if you can't listen to a pastor because he is overweight, what does that say about YOU? It sounds crazy to say, but I would feel more at peace as the overweight pastor on your show(despite me being willing to do just about anything to lose weight) than one who casts judgment because of a superiority mentality. This type of mentality doesn't just apply to weight issues. Over the years I have observed that the number one thing that pushes potential Christians away, is judgement from other Christians. Whether it is the church, or just Christians they have met. As a Christian this is sad and I think it is far more dangerous and important than the topic of Gluttony. You took a step back in the video by allowing the pastor to speak, but I wonder how much of that is to save followers or how much of it you will actually reflect on. Not sure, but I think this topic needs a video from you.

This is 4 weeks after the video was posted. So no 1 might see this but... Read verse 18 which they just so happen to ignore and skip. Confirming that no sin affects your temple other than sexual immorality. Not working out has nothing to do with your temple. Your earthly body is not your temple, your temple is strictly spiritual, it has to do with the Holy Spirit. And the reason why sexual immorality affects it, is because when a man enters a woman there's a spiritual connection that happens and it spiritually harms your temple when its immoral sex or is a blessing when its moral sex. So everything they just said should be corrected in love.

This guest sound like talking common things in the Asia or Africa. Sunblock is not that common, for example in the Philippines, we do cover ourselves with long sleeves or jackets when we need to go outside for a while under the sun. You will see people using umbrella on a nice bright sunny day, especially at noon. Most of the time, we don't like to walk or go outside when the temperature is too hot (or it is very sunny). There was one foreigner saw a basketball court empty in the middle of the day, and asked why people were not outside and using the court. And Filipinos said that it's too hot outside right that moment and they will come out later in afternoon or before the sun set (when the sun is not too harsh on your skin anymore). Usually, 10am-3pm when the temperature is high. You'll see people more in early morning or most especially, in later afternoon to dusk.

But at least that one sin if acknowledged that they are not okay with how they treat their temple and there’s no true health issues causing this, then they are aware of the sin, it’s okay when it’s in the light and being rightfully judged.
