- North Texas pastor Robert Morris resigned from Gateway Church after Cindy Clemishire accused him of sexually assaulting her for years, starting when she was 12 years old.
Clemishire says Morris began sexually assaulting her in 1982 while he and his wife were staying with her family in Oklahoma. She says it continued until 1987, when he was a traveling evangelical preacher. Morris admitted to “inappropriate sexual behavior” with a “young lady,” however church leaders say they didn’t have all the details.
Morris founded the evangelical church in 2000, with over 100,000 members and 10 campuses in North Texas.

He was 20+ and she was 12. The abuse went on for years. It is not inappropriate sexual relationship. It was and is child molestation. He is a child molester.
Yes, he is!
My thing is anytime people are chasing after a leader for that many years to try to get them removed from power it says more about that person than it does about the leader. Remind me of the whole international House of prayer time the people that was involved with removing my vehicle I know had allegations against them for years for the very same thing they tried to get my vehicle removed from and my understanding it that they turn on my vehicle because they was about to get exposed.
I don't think it's quite the same thing in this situation but a lot of the time the people who go chasing to remove a patch or the heart is a lot of times they got stuff in their closet and they're trying to steer the blame over towards somebody else. Also I found most of the people on social media and long before social media on the website that are the most critical of pastors in general a lot of them are guilty of the very same thing they bash preachers and leaders for doing.
And it's a crime..
Wood chippers 🙏

Her parents are also to blame. Instead of allowing the church to "handle it internally", meaning no consequences for the molester, they should have gone directly to the police.
In the 80s? Nothing would have happened…also…cults teach their members NEVER to go to civil authorities
people who are supposed to protect children are themselves sexual predators and they preach in the church, and are let go free for their sexual crimes
We shouldn't blame her parents. The only one to blame is him and the elders who enabled this to continue. They are ALL mandated reporters. He should be in jail.
@@carriemccurley-th8gnThe parents were very close friends with him. It must have been agonizing for them as Christians especially. They trusted the church and believed he would never preach again. They didn't even get that minimal justice. They knew if they went to the police his life would be completely ruined. I can understand their struggle. (I think it would be like getting someone fired as opposed to being criminally charged? But the idiots rehired him)
@@laurykristensen6239 I have seen this first hand in the church. Parents who are strong believers and want to give time for grace and mercy for the abuser to be "restored" rather than going to the law first. They are well-meaning, but unfortunately, the abusers usually go on to prey on more victims. I'm sure they regret that now, but it's easy to play Monday morning quarterback if you've never been through this.

What’s the most irritating is the way that it stated by him to make light of the situation. He engaged in inappropriate behavior with a young lady. No dude, you molested a kid. How different it would have sounded if he had been on the pulpit confessing it as it actually is than the white washed version of it.

He didn't shut her up and hide it. Listen carefully to what has transpired since the occurrence.
The sad part about this, he told his members he went after "girls" who didn't have strong father figures or were vulnerable. He taught them how to do it by saying how he did it. So, he had to be lying when he said it was only one woman (a 12-year-old girl). It had to be more young girls he violated or abused because he said he went after "girls" not one girl.
Exactly! I believe there are more out there from his own words!

We are called to forgive those who sin against us, we are never given permission to forgive CRIMES committed against innocent children. That’s for the law to handle. May justice prevail.

Nope, according to your dogma, even what Morris did is forgivable. You can't make up your own stuff and act like that's the Christian way. What you wrote makes sense, but don't give Christianity credit for that. Any rational society would never forgive this guy. And that's OK. 👍
Most of these people are worshipers of Remphan not of Yahuwah
According to the Bible even crimes are supposed to be forgiven. Now just because you forgive someone it doesn't mean you have to support their livelihood. As Christians we should pray for all involved and pray that nothing like this ever happens again.
How shocking. An evangelist abuses a young girl, and his worshippers continue to worship him
Who is paying for Gateway’s legal team? My tithes were not meant to support immoral behavior. This is on the elders who allowed Robert Morris to return to the pulpit, ignored Cindy’s accusations and swept it under the rug.

Like the typical televangelist, it's always about the money. Since they have no real job, they have unlimited time to mess with and destroy others.
Where are the Christian pastors who can honestly say these words:
I have coveted no man’s silver, or gold, or apparel. Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me. I have shewed you all things, how that so laboring YOU OUGHT to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive. - Paul the apostle to the church leaders, Acts 20:33ff.
Notice that it is the leaders (elders) who were to do the supporting. Prosperity teachers, including this parasite, endlessly expect others to "support" them.

@@HisPresence2024 yes, because the leadership is part of the problem. They’re hiding the truth, or buried their head in the sand. They’re very selective in their wording. I am leary of any church that allows an outgoing pastor to “appoint” his successor. They should form a pastor search committee, find a good interim pastor than can guide the church through that process (normally about a year), and then trust the process.
The outgoing scandalous pastor will always appoint from his or her family or if there is no family members, he or she will assign a crony so that he or she can still maintain control of the church h especially the finances.

I’ve known some folks who say religious abuse needs to be handled by the church. They are wrong. Mark12:17- “Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”
If someone commits a heinous crime against a child, you do not stop at simply “fixing the issue” within the church. You are commanded by God to bring a dangerous criminal to justice, and make sure they serve their full sentence under the law. Too many “believers” forget that part of Jesus’ teachings when they make excuses for the monsters in their clergy.
Is that why the church keeps lobbying to make it harder to bring them to justice?

Since when do Pastor's appoint their successor? Whether it be his son or not, shouldn't that be up to the people to call a pastor? A church is not ran by a monarchy.
When they own church. Get all the money
@roselee4445 that's not a church. That's a business. My husband has pastored 4 different churches and we didn't own any of them, and we certainly didn't get all the money.
Let’s not forget that it was Cindy’s dad that chose not to go to the authorities to have Robert arrested, but allow the pastor and the elders of the church judge the matter (1 Corinthians 6:1-2).
Let’s also not forget that on October of 89, after the church’s pastor and elders had “judged” Robert, completed the restoration process and release him back into ministry, that now PASTOR Robert, for SEVEN months (something Cindy and her dad must’ve know) and his wife went to Cindy (now three months shy of her 20th birthday) and her dad’s home to ask for forgiveness. By ALL accounts Cindy and her dad forgave PASTOR Robert. Everything is possible, but it’s hard to believe that Cindy’s dad would grant Robert forgiveness if he was so much (according to Cindy) against him being back in ministry as a pastor. Of course he is now dead and has no say into Cindy’s allegations, now in 2024.
So my question is, if she does not dispute that as an almost 20 year old “young lady” she and her dad forgave pastor Robert, what exactly, now at 54, is she after trying to crucify and destroy pastor Robert’s ministry and life because, supposedly, 16 years after “forgiving” him he would not give her fifty thousand dollars to help with the treatment for the damage that Robert supposedly inflicted on her?
She has continually brought it to their attention since she was 16. We are told to forgive those who sin against us - we are not told we are allowed to forgive a crime and pedophilic activity, that’s for the law to handle.
Furthermore more Robert is no longer above reproach and should have never gone back to ministry because now he brings reproach upon the name of the Lord.
The character of this man is being exposed, he should have never been platformed to this degree, but not our will but God's will be done.
Your thinking is warped and part of the problem. I’ll pray for you.
In 2005, she wrote asking for reimbursement of $50,000.00 for counseling and therapy. He responded with an offer of $25,000.00, a veiled threat, and NDA. She rejected it. This has God's hand in it, exposing sin and crime, for which he has not been held accountable, whitewashed and sanitizing his version, which is a lie. Matthew 18:6.
@@shelleybuerer4502
Could you elaborate please…
Let He or She who has no sin cast the first stone. Morris knows in his heart wether or not he has truly repented. God knows all things, imparts righteousness and mercy. Let's pray for the victim and for Robert.
Nearly 70% of child sex offenders have between 1 and 9 victims…at least 20% have 10 to 40 victims. An average serial child molester may have as many as 400 victims in his lifetime. Mr. Morris did not repent. He got caught, lied about it and threatened Cindy of she spoke out. "For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There’s no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death." 2 Corinthians 7:10
Remember that most times the "abuser" was once also the sexually abused child themselves. Just as Robert Morris unfortunately and sadly was. So now all we have here is one sexually abused victim trying to destroy another sexually abused victim as children. Churches need to learn how to vet their pastors better.

She was a child. She wasn't a young lady. She wasn't a young woman. She was a little girl. She was a child. A kid. Where's the investigation? Where's the outrage? There are more girls and / or victims. Where is law enforcement now. His reputation has been questionable for some time. Why has it been covered up? Where was the investigation then? Where's the legal officials now? This here will be one of many reasons ppl will walk away, have walked away, and will continue to leave Christianity. It is and will be the hypocrisy. Watch his videos he is pretty clear in his intentions.
Matthew 18:6
@gigglesribera2379 Hopefully others will come forward, this behavior usually has multiple victims. In his sermons he speaks of "girls" he sought after. I think the statute of limitations is open in cases of serial r@pe. Perhaps her lawyers advised that she go public for this reason? Hoping for justice. 🙏
Her father should have pressed charges THEN. Why didn't he?
@tomkat1883 Your response in blaming the families of victim is gaslighting.
I was abused by girls aging 6-30 so please understand this is a big problem.
How is he not in jail yet🤔🤔🤔 u dont get to step down.... U get took down
A lot of snakes in this church...
People in comments actually praying for this creep.
I'm praying for this woman. She should sue for slander.
Slander for what?
@357CLOUDY The church hired a lawfirm for an internal investigation. This, I'm sure is for their own protection but may also help bring some justice for Cindy. They will see she informed certain elders about Morris, but it was ignored. Her lawyer is working to have statute of limitations changed as well. (It's been done in some States). If she hadn't gone to the media nothing would be happening at all. She was out of options after repeatedly trying to get resolution.
@@laurykristensen6239 "She was out of options after repeatedly trying to get resolution." So, she should have outed him in 2005 after the $50K rejection. Why now? Why wait 19 more years? Does that make a lot of sense? NOPE. This is no longer about justice. It is about $$$.
Another coward makes sexual charges 35 years after the alleged incident. Evidently it couldn't have been so bad if nothing was reported then. Im not defending the pastor, but these unproven allegations should be ignored.
Maybe you haven't noted the fact that the Church has acknowledged it but said they did not know the person Morris referred to all those years ago as "young lady" was actually 12 years old. It was reported. He confessed to it but lied in the confession. This is the issue and the obvious abuse of power all these years to silence the victim. He is the coward. The woman is brave.
Leave the cult bro
@@user-qs2dc8iy4oYes, she reported numerous times to the church with no acknowledgement. She has struggled for years with this. Her moral obligation was to protect others, and she tried to without causing him public humiliation. She ran out of options and any sympathy for him at this point.

Why is all this coming out right now? Why did the IT guy wait so long to speak out? Retaliation? Why did the dad let him off so lightly? Was he paid to shut up? Why did she set a price to be quiet? Then say it's not about the money?
🎶🎶 Money money money money.....Money! 🎶🎶
What he did was wrong. No doubt. But what is different now? Why didn't she get justice for 35 years?
They worked on her back then to ‘forgive’ pastor using all their religion and authority to deny justice to victim!
The only justice the family, (led by her late father) requested 35 years ago was that the church remove him from leadership. Cindy kept trying to bring this up with the church over the years to no avail. (I'm thinking the original records didn't record all facts, like her age) This was to be in lieu of criminal charges. She didn't even get the minimal justice the family sought. Whichever church officials she contacted ignored her. Only once she went public did they take a serious look at things.
IMO
Her parents need to be charged. Cindy has repeatley wanted money, she quoted a scripture on her interview which i find disturbing she hasnt found God, she threatend he pay her or else. She was 12 and it went on for 5 years she was 17? Sound a little sus, she question her parents and he sought councel what was his results from counceling. I dont think he should be charged. He was forgiven by all at that time but she wants money now sounds weird to me. She needs to find God and forgiveness, isnt that what the buble says? Why does she need money
"Why does she need money". 2020 divorce and trying to keep paying her mortgage on her $800K+ home. As a Realtor, trying to make money today must be quite difficult. Average Americans cannot afford mortgages anymore. Thank Bidenflation for that.
Oh my word you want money why she don't tell the public she wants money to keep quite oh my word what do you do in a situation like this bringing the gospel of jesus he already died for us what more you'll want he coming again you'll better repent and stay repented before he comes
ANYONE can call themselves a pastor.
Forgiveness in Christ does NOT mean freedom from proper judgement. Admitting to / or getting caught in the act (four years) of the FELONY of child molestation in no way dismisses the need for civil punishment. "Retiring" from the pulpit is NOT civil justice. Apologizing is not civil justice. At a minimum, RM and all his family should lose all $$$ claims to GATEWAY, KINGS COLLEGE, future PUBLISHING, real and personal properties. Their empire has been built on a lie and they should be stopped from the continuation of ill gotten gain. Congregation members have a responsibility to withhold their money from the church until RM and his family are truly separated from ALL association with Gateway and their side hustles. $$$ is the true god that RM bends a knee to.
The entire leadership needs to resign for covering up this crime, but they won’t because it’s a lucrative family business
Her father cover-ed it up first by not reporting anything. Think about that. The church is not law enforcement.
@@tomkat1883 sounds like the excuse the Catholic Church and Baptist convention used for years as abuse of victimswas covered up; pretty sure Jesus would have a different take than “it’s not our job to protect kids” good luck
It’s like her parents knew why is she blaming just THE CHURCH HER PARENTS NEVER CALLED THE POLICE SO IM CONFUSED
These types will never call the police.
Too much dirty laundry to call the police.
@@tomkat1883 I have found out in many cases the police themselves are involved.
WHY IS THIS LADY COMING OUT WITH THIS NOW? HE STOPPED PAYING HER BLACKMAIL MONEY???
He never paid her. He threatened her with a lawsuit if she spoke out. Please read the reports before you make false claims.
She needs money now. She is a Realtor and divorced in 2020. How well do you think being a Realtor pays these days when nobody can afford a mortgage?
I hope there aren’t others. Praying for everyone involved. I also have been abused by people who claimed to serve and love God as a child. I hope Cindy can forgive and not poison herself with this horrible event. I’m so sry this happened to you. ❤
Nothing like waiting 35 years to speak the truth...
She was trying to deal with him privately through the church as her father originally did. She only waited to go public because of years without any acknowledgement from him or his church
@@John_Hoover Leave the cult bro
sssssshhhhhhhh I didn't really need the money then, but now I do!!!
@@Billpeterson4785 Ya, totally “cultish” to wonder why someone would wait over a third of a century to make this known…
This is dumb, he repented of his sin back in the 80’s when this first came out and he stepped down and went through restoration and has been faithful in ministry for 35 years. ALL have sinned and fallen short of Gods glory.
He needs to be in jail and a registered sex offended.
His "restoration" was based on a lie. Had they known she was only 12 he would never be preaching anywhere. He used the situation and continued the lie telling the congregation he was immoral with a "young lady". He also said he had multiple affairs. He deceived everyone. He didn't repent of his actual crime. Her dad initially informed the church so he would never preach again. They would have accepted that but he returned to ministry in a very big way. Had they gone to the police his whole life would be ruined and he definitely would never preach.
Molestation has jail time
@@RaptureReadyforJesus-qv2ql statue of limitations has run out
@@RaptureReadyforJesus-qv2ql Too late....statute of limitations expired already. It was 2 years, now it is 30 years. Too late either way. This is why it is not about justice anymore, just $$$$$. Trump hater Boz T. wants his cut as her attorney as well.
He needs to be in jail. Pedophiles should be charged and dismissed. If you know what i mean.
That could have happened if Cindy's father involved the police in 1987. But he didn't. He failed her. Too much dirty laundry to hide.
He is one of two that I always thought spoke about sex way too much in church.
I have the highest respect for my brother in Christ Robert Morris. He is a natural when it comes to being a pastor, his personality illuminates his love for God & humanity. I stand with Robert on this account. All people are human & make mistakes. It's beguiling as to why an individual would with hold making a dispute on this claim for ? 40 years. I pray that the truth prevails in this matter.
You are decieved
Well Denis. He's a child molestor
That lady looked like a liar but since he resigned so quickly he was obviously guilty and she was telling the truth.
So, I also would be curious to know what sort of secret sexual abuses she has also done in her life as the fire keeps on spreading.
@@Marjorie-xt1nn I wonder what the divorce in 2020 was about? Was it cheating? By him or her? Her ex is 13 years older than her. So, in 2020 she was 50 and he was 63. If cheating was the reason for the divorce, I suspect being 50, not 63 would be more likely. He still runs his Realty office, and she has moved on twice to other realty offices since 2020. This also makes me believe that it was her that wrecked the marriage. No proof, just speculation.
House Bill 3809 now permits victims to file their civil sexual abuse lawsuit 30 years after their 18th birthday. The act became effective on September. 1, 2019. This means that victims have until they reach 48 years old to file their lawsuit. Victims now have much more time to file their lawsuits and hold their alleged abusers accountable.
Robert doesn't need people to give him money he has written several top sellers.
gateway pulled ALL his books from their bookstore. I guess they think ppl will forget who robt morrison is and keep coming to the church to pay their tithes so the rest of the staff doesn't have to get a real job.
12 is not a lady shes a child
GOD IS EXPOSING
@sherrybryson2880. Yes! God is patient, but He is also just. Morris never took any actual responsibility for what he did and justice was never served. He deserves to pay for what he got away with. Lying to the congregation for years , even using a falsified story to gain sympathy and more followers. (he had many sermons about his past with a "young lady" and multiple affairs) People defend him saying it's been so many years ago. Not in God's time it hasn't!
Sorry but being someone who's been sexually abused by I was 10 growing up she's not ever forgiven and GOD will deal with her. Gateway church is a different church not the church that is actually is at fault.
He needs to be in prison
My question is why didn't the parents go to the police when they found out? He wouldn't be in the pulpit today had they filed charges. But then again during that time, her allegation may not have taken seriously and he would've got a slap on the wrist.
To that point, She has clearly been of age for many many years? Why didn't she do something about it before why wait till she could possibly get a big payout and ruin his ministry. If it wasn't about $ and a payout helping others be safe from him, why wait for many years to speak out?
@@MsOddSheep Besides the money for her and her attorneys, this is the ultimate reason why this is happening now besides, what they want to do is remove the Law against the Statute of Limitations over to the Federal Government, you can guess how far and sick this will get out of hand in taking the country down further. Everybody will be suing everybody, making wild and false accusations against so and so claiming something happened to them many years ago when it never did. There is good reason for why the law of limitations was put there in the first place to the states to handle.
They are going to create a wrong precedent that many will soon regret. That is the Left's so-called "social justice". "Rob from the rich and give to the poor", ultimately making everybody poor since the Feds will also be putting their hands in it and destroying the reputations of many good people. There isn't any true justice in the Left's Socialist cause called "Social Justice." There are some pretty scary things happening today in this Country.

Another pastor. Say hell, mary , all is forgiven. No accountability, predator.
People who live in glass houses should not throw stones 😢 l am sad for all who are participants and I pray the Lord Jesus will heal all of us from this trauma! I love Pastor Morris! I was abused many years ago starting at 3 yrs old. It took many years for me to forgive and to move forward! This situation was brought to light with all parties when Cindy was 17…place all of this in Gods hands and deal with your own heart to be upright with God and before God!
He should be in prison
We need laws to make churches accountable for how they deal with their members. Transparency! Accountability! OVERSIGHT CONCERNING FINANCES!
Anyone thinking the majority of pastors are holy at this point are beyond delusional.
Thinking ANYONE speaks for the sky gods is delusional
True!
We are tired to death hearing a 1,000 times every day about RM and knows the story. Please stop it now. 😮😮 Thank you very much.
I AM SADDEND, I LOVED THE PREACHING OF PASTOR ROBERT, I GOT SOME OF HIS BOOKS. WHAT MADE THIS WOMAN COME OUT WITH THIS STORY AFTER ALL THESE YEARS?
She told many other " pastors" prior to this, but was turned away.
Many of these American church leaders have a lot of explaining to Jesus.
But Jesus already knows their heart.
Because the Pastor did not tell the full truth and therefore further victimized the child into adulthood all these years while he pretended like it was hardly anything wrong. It was actually and IS a crime to sexually assault a 12 year old. That fact does not change even if time passed. Something is wrong with your thinking if you cannot see what is wrong with this. The Pastor is deceptive and lied. He committed a crime, which should have been treated as such. It is coming out to expose him now because he allowed the lie to continue. They should change the statute of limitations retroactively and throw him in prison. BTW Though shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart and love His Word and ways too (obedience). It sounds like you have gone past having respect for a man who you do not really know and thinking he is God. He isn't. Check the Bible and check your heart.
You. Got played
It takes years to tell about being molested. It is embarrassing and the shame is horrific. The predator always makes the innocent one feel like it is their fault. And if you say anything and then shamed or not believed, you will shut down. A lot of the fault lies on the parents.
Let’s us Pray for him
Shame on the Board of Gateway for allowing him to resign and walk away with a pension. You will all answer to God for that.
I’m still waiting to hear from her parents
Her attorney probably told them to not speak up until she gets her windfall. Also, Toby (her father) would need to explain why he did not contact the police in 1987.
