If I had Fender money, and a Fender Princeton was on the shopping list too, then I’d get the Harley Benton, unless I was rich. Otherwise a cheaper guitar and a good amp would keep me happy. But for the wealthier amongst us, of course the Fender is just beautiful as usual, but like most, I am not remotely wealthy, and very glad the HB is an option, as I hate tremolos, but love body contours on a guitar, so have always preferred Teles to strats, but this could well be the ideal combination.
Rich I think you would make any guitar sound good. You are accomplished. I do feel that there is a marked difference in the quality of the tone between the Fender and the HB. HB sounds good, and I am an HB fan, I have 8 of them, but the Fender has a quality to it that is hard to describe, but definitely way better than the HB. I also like the darker neck on the Fender.
I mean.. There is a close to 10x price difference here.
Also, the sounds, outside of talking about "better" are vastly different, we have classic Jazzmaster configuration with p90s style pickups and mini humbuckers for the Fender.
There is no denying that the Fender is the better instrument, but to me, what it shows is that today, a sub 200$ guitar can sound fantastic too !
@@Brqinstorm I agree with everything you just said. The fact that all electric guitar bodies and necks are made by CNC machines these days that are accurate to within a thousandth of an inch brings to the forefront of just how possible it is to create a marvelous guitar in an environment of highly skilled low wage workers especially in select mfrs. in China which seem to be streaming ahead of the rest.
A 5 head CNC monster can churn out 5 bodies at a time from blanks of wood in 10 minutes ready to be sanded and sent off to the paint department.
As I mentioned I have 8 Harley Benton Guitars, and although a few of them need a nut adjustment, they are really good guitars, and when you throw in the price point they are flat out incredible.

Rich, I was a big fan of Fender guitars, but unfortunately Fender is not what it used to be, it's not worth the money, I have a Sire telecaster T7, the guitar is phenomenal, HB guitars are getting better every day, I have several HB guitars at home, they are great at an affordable price, I am currently thinking of buying a JA 60CC, to put a nashville tone on the guitar, HB JA 60CC guitar is made in Indonesia, and they are much better than Chinese guitars.
Well there's just so much good stuff out there now. When you by a fender now it's for the name and legacy. Legacy brands like Fender and Gibson are getting a run for their money with all the budget brands.
Japanese Fenders are still killer though imo.
