  • Uploaded very much from a T-Bag point of view, as we get to see none other than John Hasler both receiving an award and announcing another winner, but fans of Dodger, Bonzo and the Rest, Number 73, ALF, and of course Splash will also get a bit of a kick out of this. (In fact, this includes a super-rare short acceptance speech from ALF himself which I doubt anyone from outside the UK has ever seen.) After trawling the BFI website, I've concluded that this was originally broadcast on Friday, 18th March, 1988 - a week and a half after Turn On to T-Bag finished. Before we go any further, though, I'm afraid I'm going to go off on one...
    [Paragraph removed - thank you for your understanding, Liam.]
    Anyway, back to this clip. The snippet they show from T-Bag is series four, episode eight, which was broadcast on 23rd February 1988. I'm slightly confused as to when the cut-off for nominations fell, as Dodger, Bonzo and the Rest finished with its 1986 Christmas special, which is well over a year before these awards. It's nice to see Lisa Maxwell (yes, that one - did you recognise her?) and Michael Groth, though sadly fellow Splash presenter Nino Firetto is absent. Actress Jenny Jay makes a rare interview appearance, and Richard Waites - Hamilton Dent to you and me - shows up with 7T3 just days from being axed forever, if my calculations are correct. (I'm still looking for full episodes of that, if anyone's willing to help...) There's a lot of children's television history crammed into this very short clip!
    Many thanks to Grant for providing this recording.
    (This is a transfer from an old videotape, so please don't expect full HD quality. To the best of my knowledge, this material is not available commercially anywhere in the world, and has been uploaded for its historic interest. That said, if you are a copyright holder and object, please don't hesitate to contact me.)

    It is good to be able to confirm John Hasler's age. I thought he was a lot younger when he started. He looked young for his age.

      Yeah, I was looking for some 7T3 footage not that long ago, and he wasn't in any of the clips I could find. I really hope there are more recordings of the show out there somewhere.
      On a side note, I think Richard Waites's next role was this: czcams.com/video/LIepVmbQ8YU/video.html

    Could members of the T-Bag Fan Club over on Facebook *please* do everything that you can to make sure that Liam reads and fully understands what I've written in the description above, and encourage him to take it seriously? Many thanks.

      VideotapeFTW Do you have any other stuff like this by any chance, with the actors from T Bag as themselves?

    Don't know about you but when I think of TV stars from the late 80s, I always think of Michael J Fox, Cannon & Ball and Alf.

    I’ve been dying to know what Richard Waites sounded like for years. I’ve only ever seen him in Zzzap as Cuthbert Lilly in which he didn’t speak.

    Why did you remove a paragraph in the description?

    • @VideotapeFTW
      @VideotapeFTW  Před 7 lety

      Thank you very much indeed! The missing paragraph wasn't related to the vid at all, but related to a misunderstanding with a fellow CZcamsr, which has long since been settled without issue. You're not missing anything. :-)

      "Dodger, Bonzo and the Rest" - a family in care, starring the second-in-command from Press Gang, and featuring a cover of Our House by Madness as its theme tune. Ring any bells? :-)
