Brennan Perry You could theoretically have more than $20000 on the credit meter. Maybe you have a crazy lucky night when you win 100 $1000 spins, and not get taxed. As long as a win is $1199.00 and lower, it will be put on the credit meter, and not taxed. $20000 indicates the largest winning combo that can be won. But if you hit it, the machine would lock up and require a hand pay so taxes get taken out, and SSN given to uncle Sam.

Every slot machine (in Nevada) has a note: malfunction voids all pays. When the machine shorts, you cannot pay it out. I have seen payouts of 1.8 million, 2.8 million, and knew a lady that hit 9 million. Worked in the business for 30 years. Those payouts do happen, but not when a machine has no matching symbols, like in this example.

  • @EEE-pv2eo

After working with pretty similar arcade machines for a few years, there's definitely no way this just "malfunctioned." I bet they just didn't set the payout cap so she won 8.5 million since that's what she hit. I've never seen games that "malfunction" like this when giving out the payout outside of Casinos. She had to have won somehow that gave her that much so they should at least pay her the 20,000 cap.

When a malfunction occurs & it is not the fault of the player then the payout should equate to the lower of [what the machine displayed] or [the maximum amount the machine would pay out for the amount the player bet]. That should be a law, & it would be a fair law.
& the casino should be required to take pictures of the machine at it's location when malfunction occurred prior to shutting it down & wheeling it away, or there should be a significant fine of 3x the max winnings of the machine at the max bet that should go to the state, along with giving the player the max winnings at the max bet if they fail to produce pictures for court.

Mr. Reporter failed to ask her if she consulted with that table at any point to see what the top prize was, what she had to hit to earn that and if in fact that was what she hit. When the casino says that the top prize is 20k that's not some number they're making up on the fly. The lady is lucky they gave her 80 bucks, each machine has a notice on it that a malfunction VOIDS any play.
