- Chris Franjola and I kept talking and we got into why Barbara Corcoran’s marriage works and the celebrity marriages that don’t. Then John McDermott, a freelance journalist for Esquire, The Guardian and many other publications is here. John shares how he was given the assignment to do a piece on Jay Shetty, one of the most successful celebrity spiritual gurus out there today. He explains what he discovered about Jay Shetty and what did not add up. What is so interesting is how these stories get squashed in Hollywood, why it does matter if your origin story is a lie, and so much more. This is a Super juicy one, Enjoy!

"Uncovering the higher truth of Jay Shetty" article: www.theguardia...
Thank you all for supporting my work on the Shetty investigation. Can't tell you how much I appreciate it.
So glad you reported/covered this! So over the Charlatans!!!
You did a great job! I want to find and read your other articles.
This was fascinating. I tried to get my daughter's to be investigate reporters but neither of them were interested and I'm too old to change careers... So I love following people like you. Bravo!
Thank U for following through and putting the story out there!
We need more all reporters to be like you. It's just always the cover up
John McDermott is an excellent example as to why we need to continue to suppor print journalism and the unwavering integrity of our journalists. Support your local and national newspapers and favorite print magazines and journals. Great interview Heather!
Amen. Support journalism.
How refreshing. A journalist actually investigating the truth and not regurgitating some BS narrative.
💯
Great show
This journalist is brilliant! I am thoroughly enjoying listening to him.
love it too
Love this guy. He is the one who should be a life coach
Amazing
I love when Chris Franjola is on the show ❤
My husband and i have been sleeping separately for over a year now because he likes to watch tv till midnight but it keeps me awake. Weve been married 14 years and about half our arguments were over the tv, so i made the decision to move into my daughter's old room. Its the best decision we ever made.
The beginning of the end
Maybe for you.
honestly the couples I know who made the longest sleep mostly in separate bedrooms as well. I clean houses and have a couple clients who sleep separately plus anecdotal experience and my own parents.
Heather! We need more people like you... willing to call out the bullshit.
I agree!!!
Married 37yrs. Separate bedrooms and bathrooms for the last 16yrs. It works for us. I love having my own room/space.
It's a really interesting conversation because peope can be compatible as a couple but not sleeping at the same time! Im only 25 and thinking about getting engaged but he has a snoring problem so it helps to hear this
I had an airbnb guest who said that for the past 20 years of her marriage she and her husband would cease all communications from Monday to Thursday and retreat to separate wings never having to see or hear the other. I prefer your method.
@@patsynossiter5794it’s odd people defend this as a happy marriage lmao
Same here , married 48 years
@@patsynossiter5794 that sounds like they didn’t like each other. My ex-boyfriend and I lived together for four years. For the last three years of our relationship, we slept in separate bedrooms. Once he moved out of my bedroom, I got a much better night’s sleep! If I had gone on the last three years being sleep deprived, I wouldn’t have wanted to see or talk to him Monday through Thursday either. Lol.
This whole show is so Heather, giggles, and then great information. Top quality !
Awe thank you
Heather's reaction to Jay Shetty being an Eminem wannabe-priceless!
@@fusi56 YES ☠🔫🤣🤣🤣
This guest was a delight. Great podcast, very juicy. Chris is a beloved fav too, obvs.
TOTALLY agree!!
Chris is the best.
I love investigative reporters. This is the type of info I love to follow. I was very impressed with his depth of research and follow-up. Please have him back with the follow-up. Due to our current political atmosphere, too many people no longer care about truth. Misinformation will be the demise of our democracy. ❤❤❤❤❤
Totally agree. I hope she continues to have other investigative reporters on as guests🍿🍿🍿
Loved the info on Jay Shetty. Interesting guest!
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@JuicyScoop he is sexy smart!! What else can he come back and talk about? 😂
@@BethFedyes Heather hire him, best duet ever
Fantastic interview! Heather did a great job of looping the story back to her audience while still allowing him room to share his story. And great I sight into an interesting topic!
Heathers been extra radiant lately! She’s always has amazing hair 🎉🎉🎉
I did follow Shetty for a while but was put off with the whole celebrity status. Something didn't quite add up. So glad you had this guy on as you could tell how authentic he was and how gutted he was with the whole Esquire thing. We need more people like him in this world, we really do. Great interview 🙌 ❤
Jay has helped a lot of people..

I’ve been with my bf 2 years and we have a 2 bedroom apartment and sleep separately 90% of the time. We have an amazing, happy relationship, partly attributed to the fact that he’s not fucking with my sleep 😂
Same here 4yrs sleeping in separate bedrooms.
I love the two of you together. You compliment each other and are both so entertaining!
"25% on a hundred dollars, that's like $20 or something" what 😂😂

The easiest math problem 😂
To be fair he said like $150
$25
I love Chris Franjola ❤= smart & handsome 😊
and funny!!
Fantastic interview, bring him back.
This guy is super knowledgeable and you can tell he’s trustworthy. I totally believe everything he’s saying he found about Jay.
This was soooo good. What a great interview! Bring him back for more stories.
Heather and Chris, as an over 50 listener/watcher you nail it every time! Love your takes on life!🎉😂🎉. Excellent interview after…U R killing it Heather!
Heather out did herself, this is best interview she’s ever done!
YES. She reveals a different sort of depth and conscience in this episode.
Denise Richards should be the evil UBER driver in that movie ! 😂
And she should wear her upside down jacket 🤣
Omg lol great idea
I was so into astrology signs for basic knowledge of certain personality traits for many years. When my (Taurus) daughter was pregnant with her son, whose due date was supposed to be late April (Taurus), I was thrilled. Another Taurus…yay! Lo and behold her doctor decided she needed to be induced April 9 (Aries) and I was devastated!! My ex-husband was an Aries and that marriage ended badly, so I didn’t want my grandson to be an Aries. Lol
Heather, I thought this was great! I loved all your questions. Good job!
This show was brilliant, I love someone who has ALL the details and expertise. This was right up there with the detective you have one sometimes.
Very informative. We need more investigators like John. Thank you for having him on.
Oh please! I’ve been married 46 years separate bedrooms for 10+. because of snoring, moaning, groaning it’s fine!
Yes I think it’s more common than people think. Anyone who has a significant other who snores or is a noisy sleeper. Usually the other one tends to be a light sleeper & there is no way anyone is sleeping through that. So they do usually sleep in separate rooms. I don’t think it should be looked at as a bad thing for your marriage. Everyone needs to do what works for them.
Yaasssss I love this!! 2 people just talking !!!!!
This hands down is one of your best episodes ever. This feels almost Peabody worth, sooo good.
One yipee
Heather, love the show. Love how your business/podcast has grown and evolved since you started!! I’ve followed your show for a while now through your ups and downs and I love you even more now ❤ -btw I’m a 53yo professional woman from the South-js
PHENOMENAL SHOW! Heather, you're a marvel x
He does make a good point in the archetype of who and what makes a celebrity has changed exponentially, even in the last decade- much less decadessss.
Yes, if u can be bought and paid for than they let u be a celebrity nowadays. No talent necessary
Gratitude, honour & respect for this amazing journalist!!
This was a great interview, great questions Heather!
I love John's voice. It's so soothing.
Amazing conversation with Chris and wonderful interview with John! I was glued to my phone. I appreciate the deep dive. Can’t wait to see what he brings to an updated article. 👍🏻
two greats in one pod cast! absolutely loved john!
Heather, keep doing these stories. It stuff like this that made the #MeToo movement come to light. Spectacular interview.
I love you and Chris together, the best combo of all your guests. More of you two please 🙏
Fascinating! Thank you for having this true journalist on! How refreshing to have a journalist follow the truth instead of toe the line. Thank you! I read the article and it was excellent!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great convo with John! Loved hearing his process to write the article
Love all your shows, Heather! Love Chris and you together as well. This show was crazy good. Wow
He was on my other favorite podcast, so cool to see him on Juicy Scoop!! 😁
Just love you and Chris! ❤
The thing that gets me is when I have to pay $250 for a PARTIAL highlight and then have to leave a 25% tip, which I always do even if they did a shitty job. Before the pandemic it used to cost me $150 and they would wash and blow dry my hair. Now for some reason you have to pay an extra $65 for them to blow dry it, it’s really hard to find a good stylist or anyone who knows how to do highlights here in South Florida. As soon as you find one person that’s good they are gone in six months. So I just got my hair done. It cost me $300 for about 10 highlights and I left the salon with wet hair because I wasn’t paying an extra $65 to have them blow dry it for me .
Yes, it's crazy. Where I live in the Bay Area a full highlight average is 400 to 600 dollars. And of course extra if your hair is long.
I recommend asking your hairdresser for a cost breakdown if you're curious. I asked mine as I was always curious about industries where tipping was recommended/expected. Some of what my hairdresser told me was industries like hers don't have any health insurance or retirement etc. so most are paying for that out of pocket; there are business taxes (thousands of $); salon rent, color supplies, shear sharpening for shears that are $200-$2k each etc. - and that's just for a renter. Salon owners are paying a lot in water bills, utilities etc. She also said there aren't many moments in her day where she can be off her game; hairstylists can lose clients by having one off day. It's also very hard on the body so she and people at her level work 3-4 days max to keep their bodies functioning and be able to continue their craft, so the amount of hours one can work and the level of work they are doing warrants a higher hourly wage. Hope this info was useful in some way!
That’s horrible..do your own hair or have your friend help.
@@kellycate it was helpful and I get it. But it still doesn’t make sense to me that the same stylist that was charging atleast $100 more for the same job she did pre pandemic and she’s doing less work than she did before when she was making less.. at least they used to blow dry your hair before but now they charge you. A lot.
💯
This was such an interesting interview! Thank you
Good to see there are still good journalists who check their information and report truths!
my mom is a Taurus and my dad is an Aquarius too! 40 yrs of marriage and I can assure you I've never seen them fight and I hope to be like them. all my friends grew up loving them and being comfortable in our home. still one of the best marriages I know.
Such a good combination. Know a few and they are great couples.
@@mirandam5746 so I guess her marriage it's just ba. can't blame the signs 😅
Ok this happened to me; I was in Australia for a few months & went to a psychic. She said “they want to know how the cakes are going?” And I’m confused bc cakes? I don’t know a baker. So I call my sister back in Texas and tell her. She got really quite & said “Caroline, our mutual friend so & so, asked me to make their grooms cake for their wedding and I’ve been baking cakes & trying different recipes to practice.” I had no idea they asked her as I’d been traveling for months. My sister is a good cook & baker, but only ever made cakes for family get togethers.
Anyway - it was so random & not a normal subject to bring up. And I have to say, my late husband loved my sisters cooking & he would be interested in this. 🤷🏻♀️
it started with separate closets, separate sinks.... I don't see separate bedrooms like a problem a man cave and a room I can sit quietly and read. I love it. as long as we sleep together. and not all the time, sometimes I sleep in the couch if I'm waking up earlier or can't sleep and wanna watch tv so an extra room might be nice. But people are very judgemental! a friend once gave me crap because I don't shower with my husband like she dies with hers. I like my water hot and to myself thank you!
Ugh I hate a "co shower" it's the worst freezing & takes twice as long!
I’m in the “separate houses” category.😂 I’m single.
@@judymurray191 also good!

Fascinating interview! Really interesting story
My aunt and uncle were married in their 50's (first marriage for both), they both own separate condo's on their own private catwalk. They do sleep in the same room and eat together but during the day they do their own thing. He paints in his gallery and plays music and my aunt reads and binges Netflix. They are 75 now.
Not enough people are talking about the Shetty-quack. Glad you helped expose!!! And, Chris is always the fave.
Great show. Heather actually let the guy talk (for the most part) and her questions and reflections were thoughtful. An excellent conversation
Thank you Heather this was another great interview! Very very informative and I have respect for this journalist
I am the happiness king I’ve spend over 10,000 hours studying happiness before i stumbled on Jay Shetty and I literally have not gained anything from his teachings. There are so many women who have changed my life but because he is a man and obsessed with advertising himself we have all seen his face- because he wanted us to
I loved this guest. Super interesting and juicy🍿🍿🍿
@@katjaxxx7353 I’m assuming you didn’t watch the whole episode. I was talking about the investigative journalist.
Both of my parents were newspaper journalists in the 60s so I especially enjoyed this episode! Great interview, Heather!
You, too are an excellent investegative journalist in your own right! ❤❤
loved the episode. Laughs with Chris and learning from the interview!
Loved this episode!! Both guys were such a delight. Go Mc Dermott, we need more journalist like him 🙌🏽
Sleeping in the same bed has been a struggle for my 30 year marriage. First it was babies and night shifts and extra work so we needed to be getting proper sleep and he still is a major snorer. As we’ve aged he isn’t able to sleep unless in a recliner. We have our time to spend together whenever that mood strikes but sleep is so important. I wish I was more comfortable and open with the separate bed / room idea 30 years ago because I allowed a social norm to cause me angst when I didn’t need to.
We are tiny living now and we have separate sleeping arrangements but he’s at most 32 feet away from me… lol
This Jay Shetty development is so crazy to me! I used to watch some of his celebrity interviews and genuinely liked them. Then another podcast I watch (H3) randomly started a lighthearted beef with Jay and John was also on that podcast! Love seeing him here too! What a crossover and a mindblower at the same time! Lol thanks again to Juicy Scoop for always bringing interesting and wide ranging guests! I loved Dr. Nadine’s book which I bought after that ep ❤
My partner and I have been together for 24 years and have had separate bedrooms and bathrooms for the last 20 years . We wouldn’t have it any other way.
My grandparents were married for over 65 yrs and had separate bedrooms. My boyfriend and I slept in separate bedrooms for four years. I got much better sleep once he moved out of my bedroom. 👍
Who cleans the bathroom ???

Separate Bedrooms!
I think separate bedrooms is a good idea. Who doesnt want their own space. You can be married and have multiple shared spaces but everyone needs their space to regroup. It doesnt have to be separate bedrooms but having your own space is wonderful.
😅 I am so annoyed with life coaches who take clients from actual psychologists, LMFTs, psychiatrists, or other properly trained and credentialed people who went to school for years and then did internships. Throw the book at em! Its not in their scope of practice because life coaches have no scope of practice!
There are a lot of great life coaches. You might not want to say untruths and judge. There are good and not so good in all professions. My friends therapists fell asleep..$200 for someone who just sits and listens..
Life coaches are such a scam. It's all a money grab!
No one takes anybody from anybody…people choose who they want to work with for there mental health..jeez
1999 Movie (Road Rage) with Yasmine Bleeth. She calls a how am I driving # and the guy gets fired. He finds out who made the complain on him, he gets psycho and goes after her and her family.

H3 podcast has been on to this story as a meme for a while now! Happy to see this journalist being so open
I loved this journalist!!!! Heather you should hire him to do stories on your show. I would love to hear him recap, the Chrisley court case or Epstein
It's astrology not astronomy and I'm an astrologer and compatibility has nothing to with a persons Sun Sign it is based on a person's personal chart (date, time and place of birth. Then, we look at the Sun, Moon and rising. We look at aspects and house placements. It's like an onion it gets very deep and mathematical so a good Astrologer will look at everything. We can literally fall in love with anyone.
Too many people are ruining this art/science by making readings about $ and not having the courage and integrity of being honest about what you see and know.
It all sounds stupid.
@@KennerToy-iv8ti the best one in this episode is Megan Kelly being with MGK 😂.
❤ Heather & her goofs amuse me, not irritate me.
Yes, it's unfortunate that people don't know enough about Astrology to offer an educated opinion. It is actually a wonderful tool for self discovery and not at all based on your Sun sign. Thank you for this post.
Exactly! We need to see the whole chart, what's their big 3, the houses, aspects, bounds and ruler ship, etc... So many people misunderstand what Astrology is and how it works so frustrating! But there are a lot of people playing Astrologers online who will just tell people superficial, pop astrology bullshit to make them feel better and you scam them out of $. We definitely need to help educate people about Authentic Astrology 🌌✨💜

The late Queen and Prince Philip always had separate bedrooms and were successfully married for 70+, it’s a common practice with aristocrats and other very wealthy Europeans with huge residences. It seems like a good practice for many, especially if you have the means to make it happen. And, John was a great guest, so refreshing to hear from someone that does real journalism.
