- Ran my bike out of fuel and then had 3 subsequent issues with the bike, fuel pump, starter relay, corrosion at the starter electrical connection. Took me a while to troubleshoot and figured this might be of benefit to someone in the same situation.
Thanks for the info. I used dielectric grease on every connector except that one.
Took my 2022 in after months it started w these isues the dealership has not yet figured it out this helps.
Thank you for the video! I had the same problem with my connection on my fuel pump and you were the only resource I found to lead me to the solution. appreciate ya!
I’m glad i could be of help
My 2016 is turning over but will not start. How do you check the connection to the fuel pump?
Hey bud..did this bike made you a mechanic or by trade you are??nice video thanks
Thanks mate🤟
just washed my bike yesterday. i went to ride it today and it was just clicking rapidly. checked battery and it’s at 12.6. thinking those connectors could be my issue
If its clicking when you hit the starter button that probably means your relay is ok. I would start by checking the connection at the starter motor. It Could be the same issue i had with corrosion electrically isolating the connector at the starter motor.
Started my yz450 18 today no issues. Then Switched the spark plug to iridium. Also found out the battery was on low. Got it charged. And now the bike won't start. It cranks, however its like the starter clutch is just spinning.
before all this happened. Last week I was riding and I lost the oil plug. Since I was riding on the road I just topped it up. You reckon some of that oil i lost blocked anything in the starter?
I would start by removing the starter from the bike and hooking up 12v power to it and make sure it actually spins the little gear.
@@antonio0072007really appreciate the quick reply sir! You're awesome!
Might I ask, any easy way to remove it? Or just as you've shown on thd video? Cheers!
You have to remove the exhaust to make room to get to the starter, it’s not too bad of a job.
@@antonio0072007 Just realised there is no fuse on the left of the relay
What if it idles, but dies as soon as I give it gas?
I haven’t experienced that issue but i would start by checking the valve clearance and throttle position sensor
