I saw Frank at the Universal Amphitheater in 1982. Twelfth row center before there were big screens. Daughter Nancy opened followed by Charlie Calas' very funny shtick. Old Blue Eyes came out and was larger than life. Made fun of Dean Martin (cute) and Rona Barrett (a little tough). It was all 100% in character and wonderful. He explained how many of the band members had been with him for more than 20 years. He gave 100% for the whole performance. I recall thinking while I watched that it might be more of a historical event than a musical concert. Now, 36 years later, I realize I was right. Thank you, Big Guy, for sharing your amazing ride with us.

Right before I listened to the older Frank here, I listened to an early 60s Frank. I gotta say, in his older years his voice becomes smoother yet till retains that sharp or crisp sound. What he is lacking in his older years is the dynamoism (made up word) or dynamic aggressive hint to his singing. If the Great Sinatra could have added his elderly smoothness to his earlier boldness....would make the perfect Sinatra....I kid. God Rest Frank Sinatra and bless his family.

Truth is, he went on too long and in the autumn of his career some of the magic in that voice had faded. But some remained: this is still an interpretation of the song that completely eclipses the competition. Astaire's original up-tempo version skims over the subtle pathos of the lyric. Sinatra's version is, as ever, definitive. Minisight2000 ("I dont think hes a good singer at all") needs some new ears. Sinatra was not a "good" singer, but the yardstick against which to judge all others.

Lear how to spell. That's such a ridiculous comment. This site isn't about grammar. It's about expressing oneself. Give that contributor a break. You are just trying to appear clever.Whereas it actually makes you look the opposite. You do realise that Shakespeare couldn't spell and his Folios are replete with grammatical variations. I suppose you would've stopped the Bard from writing because he couldn't spell. Also, since YOU are being a pedant;i'm afraid your use of commas is incorrect.
