i do like sword & shield’s style more & outside of the flippin tree the areas look like they put more time into them. a lot of the plains i’ve seen in SV look really polygon-y & when u look out in the distance it looks like it’s still in beta

honestly when it comes to graphics the Pokemon textures of Scarlet and Violet looks way better since the pokemon don't look like plastic anymore, but other than that, Sword and Shield imo is the better game before DLC, after? Scarlet and Violet's DLC is a major improvement to story that both DLCs lacked Sword and Shield and this is coming from a random guy on the Internet who loved gen 8

@@TheBypasserlol well considering that this is the first time Pokemon has gone open world, it was bound to have more bugs and performance issues than it’s predecessors, same thing happened and still happens with Legend of Zelda BOTW and TOTK, and both lags on occation because of grass, Legends of Arceus didn’t have any issues with performance because it was a zone based game, the Switch has shown time and time again that it cannot handle open world games as well. It was clearly designed for games that wasn’t open world
@lugismansion2400 okay lets ignore the bugs and performance stuff. The open world is UGLY. Like i myself dont care much about graphics, but their is a difference between indie open world games and this. It just looks so muddy and such.
Also, just because it is their first open world, it doesn't mean that you can excuse them for making the most dog water running game riddled with constant flickering, rendering issues, low framerate of animations feet away from you and camera getting drunk.
And the worst part is, the dlc just makes these way worse somehow
@@TheBypasserlol the same thing can be said for BOTW with it being Legend of Zelda’s first open world, and it still has essentially the same issues as Scarlet and Violet because the Switch cannot HANDLE them, maybe if Scarlet and Violet was released on a new more powerful Nintendo console that could handle it then maybe the performance would not be an issue but sometimes it’s not the game that is at fault, it’s the console itself

In the Sun and Moon game lillie leaves Alola because She wants to be a trainer in Kanto but also because apparently Lusamine was Poisoned and it needed to be Extracted by Bill. In pokemon Ultra Sun and Moon Lillie stays in Alola as a trainer and can be used as a partner in The battle tree + RR Episode. Gladion leaves For Kanto but can be seen twice. Once during a Cut scene Between Lusamine and Mohn and if you "defend your title" Gladion will come to fight you with a Kanto/Alola team.
The tree was the only bad thing, everything else was good in sw/sh

The trees weren't even bad - it's just kids that are too young to have grown up with older games that bitch about graphics. Back in my day, we played Pokémon in black and white on a 3 inch screen; the games have only gotten better with time, graphically.

The N64 was literally ground breaking at the time - Nintendo marketed it towards game developers who loved the tech. At that time, we didn't even have Gameboy Color. Pokémon has been made by a small company (Gamefreak is still relatively small, with the Pokémon Company and Nintendo of America being the far larger parent companies) for decades, and only the most recent few generations have even been in 3D - Sword/Shield were the first console titles ever; they were a huge step forward for the series and introduced a ton of features the games could've never had on handheld. But y'all wanna complain about trees lmao

My problem is that most of the remakes are just the original game made in 3D. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing but you can’t do that with gen 6 cause those games are already 3D. I think they should do gen 5 remakes and then when it comes around to making something new for gen 6 they should make Pokémon Z. Not only would that be a good way to redo gen 6 but also a good way to finally give fans the game they thought was gonna come out a decade ago
It’s a game that would benefit the most from a remake, the story in the anime XYZ was really good, so if they took elements from that with Zygarde, made the gym battles harder, completed some unfinished routes, added pokemon showcases and better incorporated megas into the plot it would be a really game

One of my most unpopulair opinions is that I didn't mind the long cutscenes in pokemon Sun And Moon. I have seen so many people hating on it or wishing there was a "skip cutscene" button, but honestly I love games with lots of (hidden) lore and I wouldn't want to miss out on any of it.
You can not miss out on it by just not skipping it
Hot take: I hate it when people say we need new types and then say something like the digital type, the space type, the nuclear type, even when those are pretty much existing types (Electric, Psychiv, and Poison), like if you're going to think of a new type be more creative, also you need to think of a type that won't lead to a pokemon have a specific design. Let's take the ground type for example, this type, as far as I know, is pretty diverse with the designs it uses, like dugtrio and mudsdale, dugtrio is based off of a mole, and mudsdale is based off a horse, they have different designs with the only common denominator being that they are brown to show that they are ground types. This is the case with all Pokémon types, except maybe water and steel, they are diverse and mostly have one minor common denominator. If we were to get if we were to get a space type or a digital type the vast majority of the Pokémon that have those typings would be aliens or machines, it would get boring, also for digital types it wouldn't make that much sense, using a man made machine in a pokemon battle battle seems unfair, "But what about the paradox Pokemon?" I hear you asking, those pokemon are man made but it's a handful of them and it's not an entire typing.
TLDR: So basically what I'm trying to say is that all of these new types are really specific and you can almost predict what a Pokémon's design or concept will be, like seriously we don't need anymore typing. And this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to my argument there's so many more layers of this I can explore and talk about. But that would take way too long. In conclusion...

The only fan type that I can really see working is the sound type, partially because Pokémon themselves partially already considers it it’s own type themselves. There are tons of sound based moves and Pokémon in the game and there are a handful of abilities and items that have interactions based on sound moves.
I honestly think there are a few types that can be removed from the game like rock or ground, they are pretty much the same (I know the whole ‘rock is completely solid while ground is more permeable substances like clay and mud’ thing but they completely contradict this on many different occasions) and the line between the two is a complete mess. They should just combine the two or make some new type that replaces both of them.
Also, I don’t think we should judge Pokémon’s type by just the color scheme. While Pokémon’s typing does influence the color to some extent, limiting each type to certain colors really limits creativity and makes Pokémon feel a lot more divided and industrial.

In 2019 it would have been great, meaning this gen would have been adding to it. In 2022 (let's be honest, 2023 really, it hardly seen last year) it's basically a generation behind and lacking. It's fun yeah, I love it, there is so much missing from it, it's technically flawed and a mess, they need to get rid of this new bad habit of thinking people are actually okay with not giving home support at release (a service we, or many at least, pay for separately and expect to be able to use the advertised functions) because just no.

While everyone is quick to point to the trees, i'm not going by this kind of judging. Switch Pokemon graphics peaked in Lets Go and hasnt been as great ever since, lets be real.
However, SwSh looks way more alive and colorful than SV. I recently revisited the game and was shocked by how vibrant the world was. By how cut and clean routes looked. By how beautiful the mines were. Stuff like that.
SV might have 'better trees' but it looks so dry and dead next to SwSh. I also feel like it looks less clear/clean next to SwSh.
It's nothing against either of the games, but i'd advise yall to boot up your old save file of SwSh and check out some of the stuff like routes for yourselves.
And then play Lets Go because again, Switch pokemon peaked with this game.
I just looked up two roughly equal pictures of landscape and you couldn't be more wrong imo.
Scarlet violet not only has more life with trees and mounains, but is also more vibrant in color, isn't as flat- both color and map wise and on top of that has a much better looking sky.
Swsh looks like paper half the time.

Pokemon fans are some of the most idiotic and childish, a damn tree being used to judge the whole damn game. By that logic, I can think of a hundred things in Scarlet/Violet that are comparatively worse than that tree. Ain't nobody talks about that though, for some reason, even though the games just don't look nearly as good as Gen 8. And all the camera clipping was excruciating.
The gen 9 gym leaders are my favorite gym leaders yet, despite the weird difference between them and old gym leaders.

While it follows the I just ran off before being painted look, it's definitely better than iron hands. Only two parts of Iron Hands changes and theyre barely noticeable, at least Iron Jugulis was noticeable with its black body turning metallic. Iron hands is the only shiny future mon I actually dislike.
Also, I kinda like the future forms being silver, it makes them feel like prototypes of that variant.

I see what you’re saying but poor environment details pull me out of the game. Immense detail isn’t needed if that’s the overall style, look at brilliant Diamond for example, the trees had minimal detail because it worked well with the style choice, but in Scarlett and Legends Arceus they purposely went with a more realistic style so falling short on environment details has a bigger impact on immersion.

Actually Gamecube's Pokemon Coliseum was the first 3-D Pokemon game, not X and Y. It was the first main series game, but not the first game. I wish they bring back Mega Evolutions though as unlikely as it is.

Sword and Shield has the best UI, customization, and extremely good town. It’s really fun to just go into a town and be able to enter nearly every single building.
Edit: also, the gyms were so hype. They went hard as f for the themes and design.

Pokémon community just is over critical and under appreciative of the content they consume. I got a switch for my fiancé and started them on Pokémon BDSP as their first Pokémon game so they could become accustom to the linear gameplay before switching to open world and I watched them give the same looks of enjoyment/frustration/and accomplishment I had as a kid playing the games it was surreal and really fun to watch they finished the game and couldn’t stop talking about how fun it was about how they named their rival something ridiculous and funny, kept nicknaming their Pokémon stuff like punchyrock and turdtwig and then asked me for another Pokémon game to play out of my collection I’m glad I got to share those moments with them with the plus of having them be able to play it on the tv and the go.
*And to clarify I started my journey playing a old copy of yellow my cousin lent me with the first ones I bought being leaf green and emerald as a kid. I loved diamond and pearl and I love BDSP it was a faithful remake of my childhood memories with updated graphics that felt like a natural evolution to the chibi style in the originals. People just didn’t like it because they wanted a reimagining not a remake.
My unpopular opinion (according to my friends) is that Corviknight made a better taxi driver then Squawkabilly and the dlc ones
That second one was actually really true, scarlet and violet graphics make sw/sh look like they have 4k resolution how bad they are.
Sun and moon should come to switch, but with updated graphics and everything, not like the mess they made of the sinnoh remakes
Pokemon has had a rough transition to 3D
Probably the best 3D Pokemon game is ORAS, because it was already a good game, with good upgrades, like HeartGold and SoulSilver. I can't get myself to go through XY, Ultra Sun or Moon, or Sword and Shield again. And if Scarlet and Violet didn't have a 1 hour tutorial section, then I would say it's the most replayable Pokemon game. Also with level scaling, Pokemon ROM hacks (Crystal Clear) have already done that. For all trainers.
Thankfully someone agrees that the tutorial in SV is too long.
I replayed the game 3 times as of now, and the tutorial is painful.

Honestly I think they should save the completely open world style for the Legends Games, and kind of do what sword and shield did with having the original top down style in some areas, have the fixed view in some areas, and have things like the Wild area (safari zone possibility)

Listen, I loved SWSH for it’s character and graphic design but SCVI is just way better in terms of world design. The term SWSH walked to SCVI could run comes to mind.
S/Vs story was amazing imo
I do love the outlines on the Pokémon and general aesthetic of the characters of Sword & Shield. I just think a lot of the world was devoid of character and there were a lot of jarring moments of obvious laziness.

Linear corridor simulator the game was so good guys. I especially love that the main story is short so they can try to force you to pay for the DLC faster to get it to the length of an actual Pokémon game.

Well, lucky for me since I just found this short little clip. I just now started playing Pokémon sword for the first time right now in March at this time and I was able to find Pokémon sword and to buy it and lucky for me. I just had to wait some time to be able to catch up on money to be able to buy the game so I did I took the time and able to get the game since the game’s been out everywhere. This game would deserve more applause and more better at esteem so it’s good thing. They’re just now showing this game. More appreciation. Hey, don’t give me wrong I haven’t even beat this game yet The only Pokémon game I have been playing with Pokémon Y and x For a very long time now the only games I can still play is Dragon Ball Z as temporary and especially normal games like bingo pinball others games trivia just to keep me busy time after time so those are my times I’ve been doing right now

We need a light type. We already have dark types so what’s stopping them?
we really dont need light types, since psychic and fairy types both represent light (as in the kind of waves that produce visible light) and light magic respectively. besides, the dark type is called the evil type in japanese, but it was translated into dark because 1, theyre just edgy animals, and 2, theyre actually just mean and cruel, (tho most are just protective), not actual darkness/evil.
@@helio0ss Fair, but it would also be cool to have Pokémon based on things like Ra from Egyptian mythology or a light/dark Pokémon being based on a solar eclipse. I can see why they probably won’t be added, and Idek if we ever will get a new type. Mayb one to nerf fairy, but that’s all I can think of
Well… not sure if it qualifies as an unpopular opinion, considering it’s just a personal one of mine, but… going from tenrec to aye-aye with Shroodle and Grafaiai doesn’t make much sense to me. I mean, one lemur species to another I can understand, but what we got… not so much.
Also, now that we’ve got dolphin and flamingo Pokémon, I’d love to see some based on kinkajous and olingos. And why not more lemurs and tenrecs for a region based on Madagascar?

We don't need megas to come back, unless it's for pokemon who deserve to get it, instead of the favourites getting it and a few stragglers who are used to be like "Oh, but these less liked pokemon got Megas"
I think an X and Y remake would be good and (i know it probably wont happen but) lets go johto would be a good idea
I also agree the sw/sh art style was better it had more of a “pokemon” feel to it as well. The cities also looked 100x better with way more detail

Imo we do need megas to return. I believe them to be far superior to Z-Moves, Dynamax or Terrastilisation in many ways, plus the cool Lore regarding mega stones and the ultimate weapon (plus the universe being split into 2 timelines, one where the weapon was fired and some stones become mega stones and the universe where it wasn't fired and the only mega evolution to ever take place was rayquaza cause rayquaza didn't use a mega stone to evolve to stop primal Groudon and kyogre) and the fact mega evolutions look cooler and are more unique than giant pokemon and glowy crystal pokemon. Z moves have pretty cool animations I guess but can't come close to mega evolutions.
