    Amazing that the red looked like it was applied first. I would have appreciated seeing the fired piece.

    does the soap smell bad when fired? my ceramics teacher wont allow us to do this because she thinks it will smell and bring the firefighters...i guess our classroom is not that well ventilated

    can this be done with regular glazes or underglaze? I'm going to try this for one of my projects

    • @BisqueImports
      @BisqueImports  Před 8 lety +2

      +Gallifreyan-elf Absolutely! The video sample was created using underglaze paints, but
      this technique can also be used with other glazes. Also - this same
      technique can be used with acrylic paints as well!

    Do you apply the bubble glaze before the bisque firing or after? Thanks.

    • @BisqueImports
      @BisqueImports  Před 7 lety

      Hi Pedro, you apply the bubble glaze after the bisque firing just as you would with most glazes or underglazes. Clay that was not at least fired to Cone 04 first would just absorb the soap, so there would not be much of an effect.

    • @pedrolambrusco8190
      @pedrolambrusco8190 Před 7 lety

      Thanks! But doesn't the soap act as a resist?

  • @amyrp9115

    Can you use this technique on other types of forms? Or only on flat things?

    • @BisqueImports

      +amy rice You can use this technique on any bisque shape!

  • @gargoylegirlfriend5418

    Do you have to fire the ceramic piece after you do this or?

    • @BisqueImports
      @BisqueImports  Před 8 lety

      If you want it to be food safe, yes.

    • @gargoylegirlfriend5418

      +BisqueImports what if you're painting on glass?

    • @BisqueImports
      @BisqueImports  Před 8 lety

      We've yet to try this technique on glass, but your best bet would be to
      substitute the underglaze paints with a glass enamel paint like
      Glassline. Because the glass is a less porous surface, it may help to
      spritz the glass surface a bit with hairspray before bubble painting, as
      this will help the paint to adhere to the surface. Give this technique a
      try (we will be doing the same!), and we'd love to know your results!

    Don't you need to wax the bottom rim at least?

  • @Spinquilter
    @Spinquilter Před 8 lety

    What is the name of the glaze you are using with the bubbles -- Is it Mayco?

    • @BisqueImports
      @BisqueImports  Před 8 lety

      +Spinquilter Hi, the bubbled glaze is actually a combination of Duncan Concepts, dish soap or hand soap, and water. For this project, we used 3 pumps of hand soap, an equal amount of water, and 1 tbsp. Concepts. I imagine it would work with the concepts equivalent in other brands, but I have not tested it myself.

    • @BisqueImports
      @BisqueImports  Před 8 lety

      +Spinquilter The bubbles are created using underglaze (we used Duncan Concepts) mixed with dish soap or hand soap and water.

    can you do this on greenware as well?

    • @BisqueImports
      @BisqueImports  Před 8 lety

      +Kath Terauds Hi Kath, we are not sure this would create the desired effect. For best results, we suggest using this technique on ceramic bisque! Thanks.
